Kirkwood Mountain Resort
Ski resort
Kirkwood Mountain Resort is renowned for its high elevation and geographical location, which often results in deep, dry snowfall, providing excellent skiing conditions. The resort boasts a long skiing season, usually running from November to April, depending on snow conditions. The terrain at Kirkwood offers a diverse range of options, from beginner-friendly slopes to advanced terrain parks. It is particularly known for its challenging terrain and backcountry areas that attract advanced skiers and riders. While there are beginner runs, the resort is celebrated for its steep slopes and cornices, as well as its expansive backcountry access. Kirkwood does not offer night skiing, but its lift system efficiently serves the mountain's 2,300 skiable acres. The views at Kirkwood are spectacular, with the Sierra Nevada providing a stunning backdrop. It's a family-friendly resort, with ski and snowboard schools available for all ages. Beyond skiing and snowboarding, the resort offers other winter activities such as snowshoeing trails, but does not have ice skating, snow tubing, snowmobiling, or sledding areas within the resort boundaries.
