Winterplace Ski Resort is a popular destination for skiing and snowboarding in the southeastern region of West Virginia. Known for its reliable snowfall, the resort typically enjoys a skiing season that runs from mid-December through late March, depending on weather conditions. The terrain at Winterplace is quite beginner-friendly, with over half of the trails rated as easy, making it an excellent choice for families and those new to winter sports. The resort features 27 trails, a terrain park for those looking to practice their freestyle skills, and offers night skiing on the majority of the terrain. The lift system includes two quad chairlifts, two triple chairlifts, and four double chairlifts, efficiently transporting guests up the mountain. While the views from the resort are characterized by the rolling Appalachian Mountains, the focus here is more on the skiing experience than dramatic vistas. Winterplace is indeed family-friendly, with ski and snowboard lessons available for all ages. Besides skiing and snowboarding, the resort also boasts the largest snow tubing park in West Virginia, adding to the winter fun. However, there are no designated areas for ice skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, or sledding within the resort.
