Our tucked away forest and meadow are the perfect place to find peace and relaxation away from the busy tourist spots in the Black Hills. We have a walking trail going throughout the property and we are very close to the Mickelson Trail (1.1 miles from driveway), Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Park, Custer State Park, natural hot springs, and much more. We are family and pet friendly.

Perfect camping experience!
We had an amazing stay at site #3. The hosts were so hospitable! The land is beautiful and so peaceful. Definitely take the walking trail around the property - gorgeous. We feel grateful for the opportunity to have stayed on their property and would highly recommend this location to other families. You won’t be disappointed!

Serene and peaceful!
Absolutely wonderful! Surrounded by peaceful pines, and so much more private than an RV resort. The owner was so kind and even gave us fresh eggs! Wifi signal was great, and the site had plenty of space to relax. We will be back!

Great spot!
Very nice, quiet spot in the woods. The hosts are super welcoming - Sam hooked us up with a water fill-up and fresh eggs when we arrived. Be sure to say hi to Faye the basset hound welcoming committee. The property has a nice little walking trail that’s great for your dog. The final 1/2 mile into the site is pretty steep and bumpy, but we managed with a 29’ travel trailer with no trouble. Definitely recommend this spot!

A Sanctuary in the trees
Our family absolutely loved Site 1 at Refugee Hill. The beauty, the quiet, the scenery... all amazing! Some of the other reviews mentioned the road getting to the property. There were a couple steep inclines and tight turns, especially if you have a beast of a camper like we do. However, anyone with experience hauling should be able to get their rig in and around the place. The property was beautiful and offered a trail throughout the grounds that our dogs absolutely loved. We walked it daily and even got a basset hound companion on our last walk. I think she was the owner's dog. And I say she only based on the color of her collar. Sweet little pup with the patience of a saint putting up with our GSP puppy jumping and wanting to play with her. . This would be a great spot for a small family get together. We have kids, but some of the other campers did not. I felt like the sites were far enough apart that you wouldn't have to deal with or hear kids if you didn't want to! Our neighbors were a young couple traveling the states. Aside from our GSP trying to take one of their hiking boots, we didn't have much contact with them during our stay. We're already trying to plan a return trip with some friends to this beautiful little spot in SD!! Our kids enjoyed spending time with the owner's children. They even brought us fresh eggs that were delish!! We definitely will stay here again. It was beautiful, peaceful and provided a much needed disconnected weekend away!

We loved the property and surrounding area. We were very n such a great spot to be able to take easy drives to hot springs, mt Rushmore, Custer, and wind cave national park. They were very accommodating for anything we needed and would definitely stay again when we come back to the black hills!
