Little Poplar Campsite
Oakshire Farm is the place to be!
What an amazing place to spend a few days to relax in the peace and quiet of your own camping site surrounded by nature in abundance. The tall trees provide shade and privacy but not enough to block the amazing view of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. You can easily walk to the creek, the garden, the wash house, and the animals from your private tent area. The hosts were extremely nice and extremely helpful. They let me sample fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden and gave me a private tour of their farm where they raise pigs and chickens. The Appalachian Trail, Mount Pleasant and Panther Falls are just a short drive and well worth the time and effort to get there. You can also walk to the Ankida Winery at the very end of the road to drink some really great wines and meet some wonderful people. I will definitely return next year!

Little Poplar Campsite
Hosts were very nice and kept good privacy at the camp site. The site is small but has a picnic table(which we had to try to level out in order to have an even cooking surface as it was very unlevel when we arrived.) Dogs are frequently loud but not harmful. They cannot come into the campsite itself but close to the parking area etc. A lot of thorny brush left around at campsite hopefully will get cleared for next camper. Small fire pit at site. They provided water which was great. 2WD accessible. The area is mountainous and beautiful, fun road to get up to the site in Amherst, VA. And roughly an hour from Shenandoah National Park which is a must see! Similar distance to Polyface Farm, another must see!

Little Poplar Campsite
We camped here for one night and we loved it. The campsite is in the back of a small farm, surrounded by poplar bushes and trees. A small meadow separates the site from the farm house. There is no other campsite on the farm. This setting makes the campsite totally private. There's a clean compost toilet with a sink near the campsite. You cannot drive up to the site, but the walk is pretty short and easy. We ordered firewood and were pleasantly surprised by the generous amount of firewood placed at the campsite. A large cooler of potable water was also placed at the campsite. The friendly host offered us a tour of the farm, but we didn't have time for that as we had to hit the road in the morning. AT&T has no coverage in this area. I can't comment on other carriers. In general, whatever they say in the listing about the campsite is accurate. I recommend this place if you are looking for a private camping experience.
