Site 14 - Sage Horse Camp!
Horse camping
This property is very beautiful and nicely laid out. We were horse camping and it worked out well. Bill is welcoming and helpful. Most campsites have a beautiful view of the Straits of Juan de Fuca or otherwise known as the Salish Sea. The riding trails and roads leave directly from the camp grounds. Trails are on DNR land so were overgrown in some spots , there had been a recent windstorm so a lot of windfall. My friend and I agreed we would prefer drier trail conditions so would go later in the summer. I definitely recommend this fun and lovely campground for horse or horseless campers. We didn’t take advantage of the community cabin with a wood burning stove as the weather was quite nice. But a great feature for a cold camper. Also, beyond our own lanterns, there is no artificial light; the star gazing was awesome.

What a beautiful property, it was so peaceful and serene! Our only regret was not booking more nights! We will definitely be back!

Site 14 - Sage Horse Camp!
All the spots have at least 2 corrals and most can accommodate a living quarters horse trailer. The sites are mostly shaded and there is a large grassy meadow in the middle of the loop which has a few obstacles in it if you choose to challenge your horse. There is also a round pen and arena nearby. There were 2 port-a-potties and a central water spigot for getting horse water. The trails are accessible from the campsite. Some are logging roads wide enough for 2 horses and others are technical single track trails which were a ton of fun. We rode nearly all the trails in 2 days so a 3-4 day trip is perfect (with setup and takedown day). The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. My wife and I were the only campers there when we were there (pre-memorial day) and enjoyed it to ourselves. The trails were muddy this time of year but not bad enough to not ride. We also enjoyed the warming hut with a wood stove one night to dry our boots. Site 14 (our site) was one of the best sites in our opinion, however, one of the trailheads is essentially behind that site so if it is busy, there would be people going through your campsite area to access the trails.
