Great place to stay. We enjoyed the area and being able to have our tent on the platform.

Rural, but just inutes from Olympia
Good option for inexpensive camping very close to Olympia, WA. I had a couple of question pre-booking, and Toby got back to me with the answers almost immediately. He greeted my guest and I upon arrival, gave us a quick rundown on things, and came off as a personable guy. As some others have mentioned, the sites are somewhat close together (basically like at your average state park) and there is a well travelled local road close by. You will need a totally freestanding tent in order to pitch on the platforms. The bathroom is in a mud room of the host's house, which is a little different, but I didn't find that or the road traffic (which wasn't loud) to be a big deal. You do have to schlep your camping gear a short distance from where you park. All in all, it was a good home base for my weekend in Olympia for the South Sound Block Party. And Steamboat Island is a charming rural place. Recommended, especially for the price.

Toby’s place was great, there were a few other campers during our stay but each spot felt private enough.

Beautiful setting and easy to access flat platforms. Toby’s land is a gem and I hope to return again.

Very beautiful. I think the glampsite is the one with the view of the wetland, closer to the house/bathroom and the other sites are in the cedar forest.
