Nice respite with amenities
Nice stay, even pre-season. Powder had 2 nice big heated bathrooms and hot showers. there was a laundry room between them but i didnt use it. Site is in a tiny town with a pub just a short walk away where i got some ice for free. The host and her adorable polite kids were cleaning up the sites with their small herd of equally adorable and well behaved dogs, who didn’t intrude on our space at all. (I am traveling with a crabby 15 yo chihuahua so i was grateful for that.) The host was very welcoming, responsive, and her mobile number is posted on the door of the office, which doubles as her quilt shop.
As far as camping experiences go, its not “nature camping” per se - although there is indeed a river alongside the sites - rather, it was nestled dead center of a local community which seemed like it could be fun.. I only stayed one night on a Tuesday, and was bummed that the pub wasn't open due to staffing shortage. It would have been fun to meet some local folks.
Only 2 potential downsides
1. I imagine at full capacity the sites would feel tight. The yard neighboring the left-most row was shielded by fence fabric, but I could see in from my rooftop tent
2. It was mysteriously noisy at night due to…. no idea what. Distant trains? Definitely not people or traffic. I meant to ask before i left but forgot.
With correct expectations, I recommend!!
Pro-Tip: I had the entire camp to myself, but IMHO the nicest 2 or 3 sites would be the ones at the back & at the river.

River and Stars
The tent locations are fabulous. And besides the great locale on the river, they’re a great spot under the stars.
Plus, it’s a short walk to some cool restaurants/bars in Kaycee.
