The Meadow Grove of Hands Full Farm

The Grove (5 total) campsites are located near the historic Narrow Gauge Railroad bed on a family owned working ranch in coastal Northern California. The camp sites are nestled in a pasture and grove of mixed Eucalyptus, willow and cypress trees. The sites are perfect for tents or camper vans, or small trailers. There are no hook-ups for RVs (the access to the camp sites also prohibits long vehicles). There is access to a composting camp toilet. We are mere minutes from the quaint towns of Valley Ford, Tomales, and Dillon Beach, and a short drive from Bodega, Bodega Bay or Marshall, Pt. Reyes Station and Inverness. Whaleback Ridge Campgrounds

Welcome! We offer 3 options on our land, just 10 minutes from beautiful Calistoga, mud baths, the community pool ($8) and of course the restaurant and fun bar scene. I teach at SF State, and spend my summer vacations visiting our family land and running hipcamp, amidst various travel plans. I am proud of our little camp for being an affordable option in Calistoga with gorgeous views and peaceful nature settings. Whaleback Ridge has 2 main sites that overlook “the Whaleback”, named by my great-great grandparents who settled here 100 years ago. The top of the Whaleback is the far edge of our 34-acre property, and is accessible by trails (hiking map will be sent to you upon booking). The sites, overlooking this ridgeline through the trees, are called the Shaded Oak and the Married Manzanitas - both are very rustic and outdoorsy. The Married Manzanitas site has the additional option of staying in a cozy Tent Cabin set up with a futon bed, desk and loveseat - called the Married Manzanitas Cabin. Cabin is almost finished but ready to stay in; it has full canvas walls and finished inside, but not all wood panels have been finished on the exterior (giving it more of a tent feel for summer). Each main site is very private, and all sites share access to the "Hilltop 360 View Station" where you can find the outdoor kitchen (with appliances available to use in the shed), WiFi (most of the time), a NEWLY REBUILT shower/tub combo, and a propane grill or campstove for cooking, as well as plates, utensils, spices, etc. *Note: over the last two years, we've made many changes and upgrades. See most recent pictures towards the top, and in the Site Descriptions, for the most accurate idea of what we offer. TWO AVAILABLE SITES: 1. Shaded Oak: small RV/trailer accessible, this is a back-in site for RVs - cars have a 3- or 4-point 'turnaround' by the Keep Going sign (mind the trees). There is also one designated flat spot for tents, but easily 1-2 more flat spots, including the flat spot to park RVs, trailers, cars, etc. *For trailers, the back-in is slightly challenging; we recommend you drive to the top of the driveway (the Hilltop 360 View Station where the main house is), and turn around for easier maneuvering. This site has a table, chairs, garbage can with bags, dish soap and a 5 gallon water jug for a "handwashing" station (this is well water, not harmful to drink but not "spring" water). When Married Manzanitas is vacant, you have the option of the more private, lower shower in the Married Manzanitas site (Dan will let you know if that site is vacant; otherwise shower is available at the Hilltop 360 View station). All sites have their own compost toilet and garbage bin - for more info, see Site description or the Info Doc I will send upon booking. 2. Married Manzanitas: tent or open star camping only, with mainly walk-in access to the site (about 40 yards). Driving in with 4WD or high clearance vehicles is definitely do-able, and optional, at your own risk of scratches. You'll have a large table, chairs, flat spot for tent with a tarp available, your own compost toilet "throne" (see details in Site Description/Info Doc). This site has a dishwashing and handwashing station, as well as utensils, dishes, and a small one-burner camp stove available in drawers under the sink. *There is a private propane heated shower at this site marked by the red shade cloths, and is exclusive to Married Manzanitas campers when rented. This shower is fed by a hose - You might need to walk to the hilltop station to turn on the hose, if you use it more than once. Note: The Married Manzanitas site is the only one that doesn't accommodate a trailer or RV, since it is walk-in, 2WD vehicles with some clearance, or 4WD accessible. SHARED: Hilltop 360 View Station is across from the main yellow house at the top of the hill. When you reach the hilltop, stay left towards the Welcome sign and small yellow shed. Behind the yellow shed, you will find shared access to electricity, a sink, our newly rebuilt shower/tub combo (see pics), the other larger outdoor tub, propane grill, campstove; inside the shed you'll find the microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, utensils and dishes, and lots of games! The Shared Kitchen is outside, however many of the supplies and appliances (coffee machine, microwave, toaster, mini-fridge with freezer) are inside the shed. Use the appliances inside, then take any dishes, utensils, pots and pans, etc. to the stainless steel counter with sink. Please wash and return anything you use back to the shed (or leaving them in the drying rack is fine). There is also a treehouse deck (made from recycled redwood from our old deck) and a swing:) *Please note: much of our hipcamp is made of recycled redwood from when I rebuilt our deck, and leftovers from other big projects (like concrete fiber siding), and/or supplies from Dan and Mariah's wedding - and we're proud to be recycling these materials into new projects for the hipcamp (like the treehouse, some of the shower), so that you can enjoy the scenery and serenity of our land. OTHER GUIDELINES: *Everyone is welcome to drive or walk to the Hilltop, where the main house is; just don't knock on the door or disturb the family living there. Dan stays in the White cabin when visiting, but please contact by text. Park anywhere between the yellow shed and small white 'cabin' near the water tank. For hiking, keep walking past the white cabin to access the main hiking trail to the Whaleback Ridge (past the compost toilet, look out for the first left to access the main fire road to the Whaleback (map will be sent to you in a google doc). *You may not need the Hilltop Station if you're using the lower shower and/or self-contained in your RV, but it is there if you would like to use it. *Feel free to wash/rinse any dishes you want to use FIRST, as dust, etc. is likely to accumulate up here. *After use, please clean, dry and return anything you used to avoid a $10 cleaning fee. *Both bathtubs are available for soaking, for an extra $10 per stay (add 'Extra' at booking or contact Dan if you decide to use it later). *Other Extras available at booking (or contact Dan if you're already camping): bicycles ($10 each per stay); kayak and all gear ($15); tennis rackets/balls for court in town ($10 per day for all); 4 person tent ($10); clean sheets for the Tent Cabin bed ($10, in case you don't bring your own sheets or sleeping bags). Games are free to use - please replace as you found them. *We have an old dog! She is a husky-akida mix (her name is "Beautiful") and she will bark at first. She makes friends quickly; feel free to meet her and show you're friendly, then ignore her and/or play with her! But please don't feed her human food, and watch your food (!). If you bring pets, they should be fine! If yours is at all questionable with new dogs, please just introduce them slowly at first, and then they should get along famously. Throwing a toy or stick should work, or if available, give her a dog treat. *Dan should be around most of this summer! I stay in the white cabin when I visit, and I'm available by TEXT (through the hipcamp app). In emergencies or stuck cars, our tenant/host at the main house can usually help with his truck - after work hours - for a $15 emergency help fee if he's available, and has graciously done so before. But remember, Dan is the main point of contact by text. If you need WIFI to send a text, you can connect at the Hilltop 360 View Station. Wifi Info is on the google doc that I will send to your phone or email upon booking; I recommend downloading the doc to your phone in case you don't have service:) *For hiking, you can explore most all parts of the property NORTH of the driveway/camps. You can get to "The Whaleback" most easily by walking to the "Hilltop 360 View Station" and walking left, past the white Coral Cabin, about 25 yards then taking your FIRST left trail and following the main trails which will cover the edges of our 34 acres, about 30-45 min. hike to the top of the ridge. If you reach the small pond, you've gone too far past the FIRST left trail. The other way to access this trail is through our "Fern Gully", which is Northeast of the Shaded Oak and/or Whaleback View Cabin (past the compost toilet and then 'right,' down the wash will get you to our dried up streambed, then right again following the streambed will eventually get you to the main trail). These trails are tame enough, but at spots they do get overgrown, and it is wilderness. -rattlesnakes, ticks, and poison oak - long pants and hiking boots recommended. *Steer clear of the neighbors down the hill - the first house you see when you drive up the driveway. Please do not approach the lower house or invade their privacy. It is my cousin and I like to be as respectful of their space as possible. *When you book, a google doc with much of this information, and other tips, will be sent to you which you can download as a PDF on your phone to keep available when you lose WiFi. *This is a beautiful, serene, and peaceful spot! We invite you to come contribute to that energy.

Ettawa Springs Resort

Ettawa Springs Resort dates back to the 1920s and 30s like the fashionable resorts in the Cobb area where the rich and famous came to play. But Ettawa was oriented towards families and a more relaxed and rustic atmosphere. We are working hard to restore her to her former glory. We are excited to announce that we have a few campsites ready for use and will be adding more soon. We offer hot showers and flush toilets and some sites with running water. You can hike through our property to the Cobb Mountain Demonstration Forest or just enjoy the clean air and listen to the wind and the creek. On clear nights the stars put on an amazing show. Clear Lake is about 45 minutes away with all the fishing and water sports you could ask for. Harbin Hot Springs are 15 minutes away and they offer day passes for reasonable rates. We are located about 20 minutes outside of Middletown. Be aware that half of the road is gravel (and that's better than the asphalt half) all of it is fine for small cars, just take your time. The last 1/2 mile or so is a one lane road, so please be careful of opposing traffic and uneven surfaces. We cannot accommodate vehicles longer than 25’ on these roads. We offer California camping at its finest. Fresh air, whispering trees, amazing star fields . . . this can mean the less attractive side of nature as well. We have ticks, rattlesnakes, stinging things, poison oak, uneven trails and surfaces, and a bear on one ridge with mountain cats on the other (no sign of either in the campground). We keep the restroom stocked with tick spray and Tecnu for the poison oak, but please watch yourselves and especially children. Dogs are welcome, but should be kept on lead for their own protection and the comfort of others. We are fairly hands off in our hosting approach. Unless there's a question or problem, you likely won't see us. But we have people close by and are only a message away.

We do offer free guest wifi from our camp store (the big red building near campsites 500 & 601), but the wifi will not reach the campsites.

Finley Camp

Finley Camp is nestled along Finley Creek in West Sonoma County. Campsites are located in open flats surrounded by Coast Doug Fir, Alder, and California Bay forests. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit with cooking grate, and access to a porta potty and hand washing station. The campsites are located past the end of the county road allowing for a quiet peaceful experience. Enjoy a quiet stroll on site, the surrounding communities of Bodega, Bodega Bay, Valley Ford, and Tomales, or just enjoy a quiet day in camp. Our sites are located approximately 20 minutes from Bodega Bay. The campsites are 2.5 miles from the coast and the weather can be unpredictable. As a general rule, it is very similar to that of San Francisco. All camp sites are situated in a valley that offers protection from the coastal winds. The have both morning and evening shade. Sites #2, #6, #7, and #11 have the most space, while sites #4, #7, #8, #9 and #11 offer the most privacy. Sites 1-3, any combination of 5-7, and 12-13 are well suited for groups. Other site groupings work well depending on the number of sites being reserved. Site #8 is unique in that it has a wood deck/platform for tents. There are also NO wood fires allowed at site #8 as it is under the tree canopy. A propane firepit is provided for your use. You can bring a 5 gallon propane tank from home, or a full one is available for rent on site. We have beef available for purchase from calves raised exclusively on our ranch. This beef is 100% grass fed and finished and never given grain of any kind. We have various cuts available such as steaks, ground, roasts, ribs, or other various specialty cuts. All beef is cut and wrapped by a USDA certified butcher. It is raised in an organic manner from cows that freely roam on the pastures of the coastal hills we call home. For further information or for a price sheet, please inquire with the camp host. Well behaved dogs are welcome at Finley Camp. All dogs must be kept on leash at all times while on the property. There are no exceptions to this. Finley Camp is located on an active cattle ranch and directly adjacent to a neighboring ranch with cattle. Also be sure to check out our orchard tours. The apples ripen from Late July thru late November. We'll take you to our family orchard where you can pick apples, pears, or blueberries in season and taste yummy treats out of our family garden.

The campsites are spaced far apart from one another to ensure some privacy. It is very quiet out here at night. If there are other campers you might hear them in the distance. All campsite are located overlooking the Estero and close to the grass road to enter and exit the property. You will have access to some of our pastures for picnics and leisurely walks. When you check in we will give you directions to a few special places around the surrounding area and see if you would like some grassland finished beef, lamb, pork, eggs, or vegetables all grown or made on our ranch. We offer other care packages, ask us when you arrive (include, home made focaccia, sourdough bread, local cheeses, etc...) A liability waiver will be needed to be signed. This is primitive camping, There is water but it is not potable. so bring your own drinking water. It can get very windy out here in Spring and Summer. Come prepared. We have situated the campsites to be on the leeward side and as protected as possible. We try to leave the land better off than we found it and hope that you will share the same respect for the pristine beauty of this place. We are 10 minutes away from the quaint town of Tomale and 15 minutes from the town of Valley Ford. Dillon Beach is only 3.5 miles away. Blackberry Farm

Blackberry Farm sits on the western side of Mount Tamalpais, tucked in the Gospel Flat area of Bolinas. The family farm and residence were established during the late 1970s on the site of the historic Peter’s Dairy Ranch. The original farmhouse dates back to the late 19th century and survived the great 1906 earthquake. Today, the 7-acre farm is being restored to sustainably support fruit orchards, cottage flower and kitchen gardens, honey bees, a boisterous flock of chickens, and naughty shetland sheep. Our self-serve farmstand attached to our barn has seasonal flowers, organic eggs, heirloom fruit, and local goods from the farm. Our property is the perfect rustic getaway for backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts. You’ll be surrounded by farm/ranch life: chickens clucking, roosters crowing, bees buzzing, and sheep bleating. The property is located east of Occidental in a unique "banana belt" along the USDA 9a/9b climate zones, inside the "Green Valley" Sonoma wine appellation, on a quintessential country lane. Originally settled and farmed in the early 1900's by a family of Italian immigrants, from whom the lane is named after. Several decades later the land was subdivided. My parents purchased a 5-acre parcel in the early 1970's, and began homesteading. Fifty years later we are now three generations on the same land. One acre is our family compound, two acres are forest preserve, and the other two acres are orchard - where the camp sites have been integrated. The orchard has many different fruit trees including heritage Gravenstein apples that were originally planted by family from Italy. They are ripe between mid July to mid August. The orchard borders a forest with old growth Redwoods, Douglas Fir, Bay Laurel, Oaks, and Madrone. Some wildlife passes through the orchard, especially birds. The site offers great star gazing, sun rises, moon rises and access to a charming walk on a beautiful country lane for sunsets. Walking distance to Occidental, and a twenty minute drive to the beaches of the Sonoma Coast and the Russian River. A great location to explore and enjoy nearby small towns, wineries, dairies, hiking, bicyling, surfing, kayaking, and farmers markets... or just relax at the site, make a picnic and bask in the serenity.

In 1969, 134 acres of this fertile coastline were rescued from commercial development and purchased by the Nature Conservancy. The Slide Ranch nonprofit organization was established in 1970, becoming one of the first Park Partners in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Salmon Creek Ranch

Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! Whaleback Ridge Campgrounds

Welcome! We offer 3 options on our land, just 10 minutes from beautiful Calistoga, mud baths, the community pool ($8) and of course the restaurant and fun bar scene. I teach at SF State, and spend my summer vacations visiting our family land and running hipcamp, amidst various travel plans. I am proud of our little camp for being an affordable option in Calistoga with gorgeous views and peaceful nature settings. Whaleback Ridge has 2 main sites that overlook “the Whaleback”, named by my great-great grandparents who settled here 100 years ago. The top of the Whaleback is the far edge of our 34-acre property, and is accessible by trails (hiking map will be sent to you upon booking). The sites, overlooking this ridgeline through the trees, are called the Shaded Oak and the Married Manzanitas - both are very rustic and outdoorsy. The Married Manzanitas site has the additional option of staying in a cozy Tent Cabin set up with a futon bed, desk and loveseat - called the Married Manzanitas Cabin. Cabin is almost finished but ready to stay in; it has full canvas walls and finished inside, but not all wood panels have been finished on the exterior (giving it more of a tent feel for summer). Each main site is very private, and all sites share access to the "Hilltop 360 View Station" where you can find the outdoor kitchen (with appliances available to use in the shed), WiFi (most of the time), a NEWLY REBUILT shower/tub combo, and a propane grill or campstove for cooking, as well as plates, utensils, spices, etc. *Note: over the last two years, we've made many changes and upgrades. See most recent pictures towards the top, and in the Site Descriptions, for the most accurate idea of what we offer. TWO AVAILABLE SITES: 1. Shaded Oak: small RV/trailer accessible, this is a back-in site for RVs - cars have a 3- or 4-point 'turnaround' by the Keep Going sign (mind the trees). There is also one designated flat spot for tents, but easily 1-2 more flat spots, including the flat spot to park RVs, trailers, cars, etc. *For trailers, the back-in is slightly challenging; we recommend you drive to the top of the driveway (the Hilltop 360 View Station where the main house is), and turn around for easier maneuvering. This site has a table, chairs, garbage can with bags, dish soap and a 5 gallon water jug for a "handwashing" station (this is well water, not harmful to drink but not "spring" water). When Married Manzanitas is vacant, you have the option of the more private, lower shower in the Married Manzanitas site (Dan will let you know if that site is vacant; otherwise shower is available at the Hilltop 360 View station). All sites have their own compost toilet and garbage bin - for more info, see Site description or the Info Doc I will send upon booking. 2. Married Manzanitas: tent or open star camping only, with mainly walk-in access to the site (about 40 yards). Driving in with 4WD or high clearance vehicles is definitely do-able, and optional, at your own risk of scratches. You'll have a large table, chairs, flat spot for tent with a tarp available, your own compost toilet "throne" (see details in Site Description/Info Doc). This site has a dishwashing and handwashing station, as well as utensils, dishes, and a small one-burner camp stove available in drawers under the sink. *There is a private propane heated shower at this site marked by the red shade cloths, and is exclusive to Married Manzanitas campers when rented. This shower is fed by a hose - You might need to walk to the hilltop station to turn on the hose, if you use it more than once. Note: The Married Manzanitas site is the only one that doesn't accommodate a trailer or RV, since it is walk-in, 2WD vehicles with some clearance, or 4WD accessible. SHARED: Hilltop 360 View Station is across from the main yellow house at the top of the hill. When you reach the hilltop, stay left towards the Welcome sign and small yellow shed. Behind the yellow shed, you will find shared access to electricity, a sink, our newly rebuilt shower/tub combo (see pics), the other larger outdoor tub, propane grill, campstove; inside the shed you'll find the microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, utensils and dishes, and lots of games! The Shared Kitchen is outside, however many of the supplies and appliances (coffee machine, microwave, toaster, mini-fridge with freezer) are inside the shed. Use the appliances inside, then take any dishes, utensils, pots and pans, etc. to the stainless steel counter with sink. Please wash and return anything you use back to the shed (or leaving them in the drying rack is fine). There is also a treehouse deck (made from recycled redwood from our old deck) and a swing:) *Please note: much of our hipcamp is made of recycled redwood from when I rebuilt our deck, and leftovers from other big projects (like concrete fiber siding), and/or supplies from Dan and Mariah's wedding - and we're proud to be recycling these materials into new projects for the hipcamp (like the treehouse, some of the shower), so that you can enjoy the scenery and serenity of our land. OTHER GUIDELINES: *Everyone is welcome to drive or walk to the Hilltop, where the main house is; just don't knock on the door or disturb the family living there. Dan stays in the White cabin when visiting, but please contact by text. Park anywhere between the yellow shed and small white 'cabin' near the water tank. For hiking, keep walking past the white cabin to access the main hiking trail to the Whaleback Ridge (past the compost toilet, look out for the first left to access the main fire road to the Whaleback (map will be sent to you in a google doc). *You may not need the Hilltop Station if you're using the lower shower and/or self-contained in your RV, but it is there if you would like to use it. *Feel free to wash/rinse any dishes you want to use FIRST, as dust, etc. is likely to accumulate up here. *After use, please clean, dry and return anything you used to avoid a $10 cleaning fee. *Both bathtubs are available for soaking, for an extra $10 per stay (add 'Extra' at booking or contact Dan if you decide to use it later). *Other Extras available at booking (or contact Dan if you're already camping): bicycles ($10 each per stay); kayak and all gear ($15); tennis rackets/balls for court in town ($10 per day for all); 4 person tent ($10); clean sheets for the Tent Cabin bed ($10, in case you don't bring your own sheets or sleeping bags). Games are free to use - please replace as you found them. *We have an old dog! She is a husky-akida mix (her name is "Beautiful") and she will bark at first. She makes friends quickly; feel free to meet her and show you're friendly, then ignore her and/or play with her! But please don't feed her human food, and watch your food (!). If you bring pets, they should be fine! If yours is at all questionable with new dogs, please just introduce them slowly at first, and then they should get along famously. Throwing a toy or stick should work, or if available, give her a dog treat. *Dan should be around most of this summer! I stay in the white cabin when I visit, and I'm available by TEXT (through the hipcamp app). In emergencies or stuck cars, our tenant/host at the main house can usually help with his truck - after work hours - for a $15 emergency help fee if he's available, and has graciously done so before. But remember, Dan is the main point of contact by text. If you need WIFI to send a text, you can connect at the Hilltop 360 View Station. Wifi Info is on the google doc that I will send to your phone or email upon booking; I recommend downloading the doc to your phone in case you don't have service:) *For hiking, you can explore most all parts of the property NORTH of the driveway/camps. You can get to "The Whaleback" most easily by walking to the "Hilltop 360 View Station" and walking left, past the white Coral Cabin, about 25 yards then taking your FIRST left trail and following the main trails which will cover the edges of our 34 acres, about 30-45 min. hike to the top of the ridge. If you reach the small pond, you've gone too far past the FIRST left trail. The other way to access this trail is through our "Fern Gully", which is Northeast of the Shaded Oak and/or Whaleback View Cabin (past the compost toilet and then 'right,' down the wash will get you to our dried up streambed, then right again following the streambed will eventually get you to the main trail). These trails are tame enough, but at spots they do get overgrown, and it is wilderness. -rattlesnakes, ticks, and poison oak - long pants and hiking boots recommended. *Steer clear of the neighbors down the hill - the first house you see when you drive up the driveway. Please do not approach the lower house or invade their privacy. It is my cousin and I like to be as respectful of their space as possible. *When you book, a google doc with much of this information, and other tips, will be sent to you which you can download as a PDF on your phone to keep available when you lose WiFi. *This is a beautiful, serene, and peaceful spot! Ettawa Springs Resort

Ettawa Springs Resort dates back to the 1920s and 30s like the fashionable resorts in the Cobb area where the rich and famous came to play. But Ettawa was oriented towards families and a more relaxed and rustic atmosphere. We are working hard to restore her to her former glory. We are excited to announce that we have a few campsites ready for use and will be adding more soon. We offer hot showers and flush toilets and some sites with running water. You can hike through our property to the Cobb Mountain Demonstration Forest or just enjoy the clean air and listen to the wind and the creek. On clear nights the stars put on an amazing show. Clear Lake is about 45 minutes away with all the fishing and water sports you could ask for. Harbin Hot Springs are 15 minutes away and they offer day passes for reasonable rates. We are located about 20 minutes outside of Middletown. Be aware that half of the road is gravel (and that's better than the asphalt half) all of it is fine for small cars, just take your time. The last 1/2 mile or so is a one lane road, so please be careful of opposing traffic and uneven surfaces. We cannot accommodate vehicles longer than 25’ on these roads. We offer California camping at its finest. Fresh air, whispering trees, amazing star fields . . . this can mean the less attractive side of nature as well. We have ticks, rattlesnakes, stinging things, poison oak, uneven trails and surfaces, and a bear on one ridge with mountain cats on the other (no sign of either in the campground). We keep the restroom stocked with tick spray and Tecnu for the poison oak, but please watch yourselves and especially children. Dogs are welcome, but should be kept on lead for their own protection and the comfort of others. We are fairly hands off in our hosting approach. Unless there's a question or problem, you likely won't see us. But we have people close by and are only a message away.

Finley Camp is nestled along Finley Creek in West Sonoma County. Campsites are located in open flats surrounded by Coast Doug Fir, Alder, and California Bay forests. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit with cooking grate, and access to a porta potty and hand washing station. The campsites are located past the end of the county road allowing for a quiet peaceful experience. Enjoy a quiet stroll on site, the surrounding communities of Bodega, Bodega Bay, Valley Ford, and Tomales, or just enjoy a quiet day in camp. Our sites are located approximately 20 minutes from Bodega Bay. The campsites are 2.5 miles from the coast and the weather can be unpredictable. As a general rule, it is very similar to that of San Francisco. All camp sites are situated in a valley that offers protection from the coastal winds. The have both morning and evening shade. Sites #2, #6, #7, and #11 have the most space, while sites #4, #7, #8, #9 and #11 offer the most privacy. Sites 1-3, any combination of 5-7, and 12-13 are well suited for groups. Other site groupings work well depending on the number of sites being reserved. Site #8 is unique in that it has a wood deck/platform for tents. All beef is cut and wrapped by a USDA certified butcher. It is raised in an organic manner from cows that freely roam on the pastures of the coastal hills we call home. The Meadow Grove of Hands Full Farm

The Grove (5 total) campsites are located near the historic Narrow Gauge Railroad bed on a family owned working ranch in coastal Northern California. The camp sites are nestled in a pasture and grove of mixed Eucalyptus, willow and cypress trees. The sites are perfect for tents or camper vans, or small trailers. There are no hook-ups for RVs (the access to the camp sites also prohibits long vehicles). There is access to a composting camp toilet. The ranch itself is 300 acres of rolling hills pasture, with hilltop views of the Estero Americano valley. The Grove is home to many varieties of raptors and other birds-providing excellent bird watching. Seasonally there are blackberries to fill your containers, and some hiking. The sites are subject to some road noise, as we are right on Hwy 1. We are mere minutes from the quaint towns of Valley Ford, Tomales, and Dillon Beach, and a short drive from Bodega, Bodega Bay or Marshall, Pt. Reyes Station and Inverness. Nearby attractions include: Sonoma Coast beaches, Pt. Reyes National Seashore, coastal hiking trails, local farm-to-table eateries. Inland attractions include: redwoods, wine tasting, Russian River activities and so much more. Blackberry Farm sits on the western side of Mount Tamalpais, tucked in the Gospel Flat area of Bolinas. The family farm and residence were established during the late 1970s on the site of the historic Peter’s Dairy Ranch. The original farmhouse dates back to the late 19th century and survived the great 1906 earthquake. Today, the 7-acre farm is being restored to sustainably support fruit orchards, cottage flower and kitchen gardens, honey bees, a boisterous flock of chickens, and naughty shetland sheep. Our self-serve farmstand attached to our barn has seasonal flowers, organic eggs, heirloom fruit, and local goods from the farm. Our property is the perfect rustic getaway for backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts. You’ll be surrounded by farm/ranch life: chickens clucking, roosters crowing, bees buzzing, and sheep bleating. We also have active nighttime wildlife: coyotes howling, raccoons foraging, owls hooting, etc. Bring earplugs if nature sounds are too much for you. Finley Camp is nestled along Finley Creek in West Sonoma County. Campsites are located in open flats surrounded by Coast Doug Fir, Alder, and California Bay forests. The campsites are located past the end of the county road allowing for a quiet peaceful experience. Our sites are located approximately 20 minutes from Bodega Bay. The campsites are 2.5 miles from the coast and the weather can be unpredictable. As a general rule, it is very similar to that of San Francisco. All camp sites are situated in a valley that offers protection from the coastal winds. The have both morning and evening shade. Sites #2, #6, #7, and #11 have the most space, while sites #4, #7, #8, #9 and #11 offer the most privacy. Sites 1-3, any combination of 5-7, and 12-13 are well suited for groups. Other site groupings work well depending on the number of sites being reserved. Site #8 is unique in that it has a wood deck/platform for tents. Overview

Located in northern Sonoma Valley, Santa Rosa is the largest city and county seat of Sonoma County. A vibrant city with plenty of culture, performing arts, museums, shopping, and farm-to-table dining, highlights include the Historic Railroad Square, Charles M. Schulz Museum, and Safari West. In addition to wineries and tasting rooms, the city is home to craft breweries and distilleries, and also offers easy access to nearby wine growing regions of Sonoma, Healdsburg, and the Russian River Valley. There are also plenty of parks and nature in the region, where you can stay and play near lakes, among the redwoods, and along the coast.

Where to go

Wine Country

Just outside of Santa Rosa, the Spring Lake Campground offers a large reservoir, 10 miles of trails, mountain views, and lakeside camping. Tent cabins are also available at Safari West. Stay at a family-friendly campground near Sonoma Creek at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. Further east, camp near redwoods and a pretty stream at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. For water play and a choice of tent, RV, walk-in, and boat-in campsites, head to Lake Sonoma Recreation Area. Private options can also be found near Napa, Petaluma, Calistoga, and Guerneville.

Mendocino National Forest

North of Napa Valley, enjoy water sports at Clear Lake, California’s largest natural lake and choose from six campgrounds at Clear Lake State Park. Further north, Mendocino National Forest offers a rugged and wild outdoor experience, and more than 40 developed campgrounds. Options at the southern end of the park include Deer Valley and Middle Creek campgrounds, and several campgrounds around Lake Pillsbury.

Along the Coast

Head to the coast to enjoy rugged beauty and camping near the Pacific. At Gualala Point Regional Park, camp near the ocean and river. Further south, stay at Stillwater Cove Regional Park and Salt Point State Park near Fort Ross. Explore the beaches of Sonoma Coast State Park, and choose from four campgrounds. Hike or boat to your campsite at Point Reyes National Seashore. Just inland, stay along the Russian River at Austin Creek State Recreation Area.

Bay Area

Stay among the redwoods at Samuel P. Taylor State Park. At Mount Tamalpais State Park, choose from rustic cabins and primitive tent sites. The Marin Headlands offers four campgrounds, while groups in San Francisco can camp at the Presidio. In the East Bay, enjoy sweeping views and three campgrounds at Mount Diablo State Park, with additional camping options at Anthony Chabot Regional Park and Del Valle Regional Park.

When to go

High season in Santa Rosa runs from May to October, with the peak during the harvest season, in September and October. Numerous festivals are held over the summer, especially in June. In September, the lagoon at Spring Lake Regional Park is only open on weekends. Winter is a great time to escape the crowds. Visit in the spring for prolific wildflower displays.

Know before you go

Sonoma County transit buses serve the city and surrounding areas in Sonoma Valley, but have limited routes. Many wineries are far apart, and require a car to visit.
Most wineries charge a fee for tastings, which sometimes go towards the purchase price of a bottle. Some wineries require reservations for tastings.
Reservations are required for certain campgrounds, including at Spring Lake.
Many parts of the northern California coast are not safe for swimming and there are very few lifeguards on duty.
