Hartley's Haven Rustic Farm Stay

1 site · Lodging50 acres · Little Hartley, NSW
Step out of the city and onto this working produce farm. Accommodation is rustic and basic as opposed to four star but the air is fresh and the stars are a work of art. Come and enjoy the tranquillity. As a way of introduction, some basic housekeeping information about our cabin …. Firstly this is a working farm, so accommodation is rustic and basic as opposed to four star. Our bathroom facilities are an outside shower and composting toilet about a 20m walk from the cabin but the bonus is we have just had instant hot water installed and the shower is steaming hot. There is a hand basin outside the cabin with cold running water for drinking and washing. We will always leave a torch in the cabin for your use, for those late night adventures! For your convenience there is a refrigerator, microwave, kettle, drinkware, cutlery and plates. Linen and towels are provided and the fridge will be stocked with milk and cold water. There is no hot and cold running water inside the cabin however as I mentioned the hand basin outside will provide cold water for hand washing, teeth cleaning etc. Animals roam free on the property and the cabin overlooks our dam where the ducks and geese take their families to swim. As I mentioned earlier, this is a working farm and business and we do have a dam in close proximity to the cabin; this is NOT fully fenced, so please be aware that is it your sole responsibility to supervise your children at all times – animals are also freely wandering the grounds in the way of chooks, alpacas, sheep, goats, geese and dogs (we have 8 rescue dogs of all shapes and sizes), so please be aware that free range is just that, again supervision will be required. Adequate footwear for children would be an advantage as the walking tracks can be rutted after bad weather and working farm means dirt and animal poop (just to add to the fun) so obviously safety is the best prevention. We'd love to show you our little part of the world and welcome you to our home. We welcome lots of interaction with the animals and there is a big open fire that you can sit around and toast marshmallows and chat or a smaller one outside the cabin to take in the fresh air and the canvas of stars. Tomah Retreat

3 sites · Lodging5 acres · Mount Tomah, NSW
An adults-only bright, romantic studio beneath the main house with its own entry, a gorgeous Ergoflex queen-sized bed, a luxurious raindrop shower, and a glorious outlook over the green garden and Japanese Tori gate. Your own fireplace, bookshelf, sideboard kitchenette, toaster, hot plate, coffee machine, choice of teas - you'll never leave your beanbag. Also: Reiki Treatments, Meditation classes, visit the suspended bed in the treehouse or walk the labyrinth plus free infrared sauna. Tomah Retreat is a precious retreat on 5 lush acres in the Blue Mountains where the only thing that is farmed are vegetables with a great big dollop of love and compassion - here the animals roam free. The Tomah Retreat has been the base for the International House of Reiki and meditation classes since 2002 and continues to be so. When it's not busy with that, it is creating a healing space for individuals or couples who are looking to get away from a busy world. In other words - YOU. The Tomah Retreat is also a healing home for many animals who have come from rescue backgrounds. There are 2 more couples studios on the property, CHILL and BREATHE, which you can book to create an entire retreat for your family and/or friends. Bronwen has put together a number of unique experiences that you can enjoy when you stay at the Tomah Retreat. Bronwen will specifically cater these treatments or classes to your needs. Bookings are essential and can be made at "Tomah Retreat dot com". The gardens are shared with the guests of the other 2 studios on the property, Studio Breathe and Studio Chill. Ask Bronwen to tell you a little about the Living Labyrinth she built from 800 dwarf buxus plants - before you go and walk it. It's a great contemplative tool and will support your inner healing during your stay. Head up to the Treehouse and make yourself comfortable in the suspended ergoflex queen bed, let the breeze tussle your hair, and watch the world go by - sometimes all we need is somewhere quiet to sit and BE for a while, before heading back into the fray. The infrared sauna sits in its own building where you can look out over the garden while enjoying its wonderful health benefits. It's free to enjoy, just book your time with Bronwen when you arrive. The smallest things can be healing, like snuggling up in front of the firepit, patting a cat, reading one of our many self-help books or novels, drinking tea, just listening to the birds, or playing with a dog. We are obviously being extra careful at this time. We have taken precautions to increase cleaning and disinfection, particularly on frequently touched surfaces. We're also asking that you please practice safe hygiene and remain at home if you feel unwell.

Cabins near Bathurst guide

Overview

Motorsports enthusiasts know Bathurst for its legendary Mount Panorama Circuit, and a drive around the scenic mountain road is a must. Once you’ve taken in the views, discover Bathurst’s gold rush heritage, play a game at the golf course, or spot kangaroos at the Boundary Road Reserve. Bushwalking opportunities are plentiful in the surrounding national parks and reserves, while Chifley Dam provides plenty of ways to get on the water. Campers can check into the caravan park in town, pitch a tent by the riverside, or escape the crowds at tranquil farm camping grounds.

Where to go

Bathurst Region

The sloping hills and valleys of NSW’s Central Tablelands harbor a rich history. Get a taste of gold rush fever as you explore 19th-century gold mines at Hill End, visit Sofala and Wattle Flat, or try your hand at gold fossicking along Tambaroora Creek. Seeking an outdoor adventure? Discover the Abercrombie Caves, hike the summit of Evans Crown, or explore the 4WD trails of Winburndale Nature Reserve.

Blue Mountains

East of Bathurst, the Blue Mountains are a natural playground for hikers and mountain bikers. Must-see natural wonders include the Three Sisters, Wentworth Falls, and the Jenolan Caves, and there are endless options for bushwalking and camping. Nearby,  Capertee National Park is a hotspot for rock climbing, while the Wollemi National Park has glowworm caves, kayaking tours, and bush camping.

Orange Wine Region

Less than an hour’s drive west, the green hills of the Orange region are a patchwork of vineyards and orchards. Stop at boutique wineries to sample the region’s cool-climate wines, dine at country restaurants with a view over the vineyards, or visit the historic villages of Carcoar and Lyndhurst. The most impressive views are from above—nearby Canowindra is famous for its hot air balloon tours.

When to go

Bathurst has four distinct seasons, but the weather rarely hits extremes, and outdoor activities are possible year-round with the right gear. Summer (December through February) is busiest, and the sunny days are ideal for wine tasting or water sports around the lakes. The small town draws huge crowds for the annual Bathurst 1000 (October) and Bathurst 12 Hour (February) motor races—book well in advance if visiting at this time.

Know before you go

  • Bathurst has bus and train links to Sydney, but having your own transport is useful for exploring the national parks.
  • Bathurst has a small selection of shops where you can pick up camping gear and stock up on supplies.
  • Fire bans are common during summer and dry periods, so check local recommendations before lighting a campfire and always use designated fire pits.
  • A permit is required to camp within NSW’s national parks, and campsites must be booked in advance.
