We are on acreage (approx 7 acres) in Otford, surrounded by forest, backing onto the very southern end of the Royal National Park Sydney/Wollongong. Sleep under the stars, and to the hoot of our local owls, and yips of the gorgeous feather-tail gliders. Max of 3 camp sites booked at a time. Each camp site is within shouting distance of each other, so if looking for absolute privacy, please talk to me first. As bookings come through, I assess the number of people booked for a site, and adjust availability on the others accordingly (such as blocking the rest of the day/s to prevent over-crowding) We usually only have two unconnected groups/families at a time. Our site is the perfect place to camp in comfort and safety, when taking an overnight rest after the long backpacking trek from Bundeena. We have firewood available for our cosy camp firepits (one firepit available for each site) We buy in reclaimed hardwood to reduce the impact of logging of native forest, but also often have seasoned firewood from our own fallen trees. $20 for approx 20kg. A small bin is provided for sanitary products etc. Please leave the bushland surrounds free of solid waste. Gazebo Weatherproof /insect meshed gazebo and outdoor furniture. Absolutely no fires under the gazebo, otherwise it will melt and catch fire. Quiet Hours Quiet hours between 10pm and 7am Outdoor and Indoor Showers Warm water is heated by LPG gas bottles - please help conserve water and gas QUIET HOURS: To respect other campers who may be staying, and our amazing nocturnal wildlife, our quiet hours are 10pm to 7am, when noise is asked to be kept minimal. Such an exception would be event times like New Years Eve. We have found that camping is a great way to reset your Circadian rhythm - waking and sleeping according to the natural light & darkness , and a drink around a crackling camp fire super relaxing :) CONTACT: If you want me to send you more photographs of the camping sites/facilities , you can look up Otford Park or OtfordParkCamping on Facebook and contact me through there (can't send photos etc via HipCamp messages yet) WHAT TO EXPECT: We have horses, poultry, dogs and abundant wildlife so visiting pets must be either caged or leashed at all times. We have two waterproof dog beds available - just need to bring their blanket etc for softness As its a sanctuary for wildlife - absolutely No Hunting is permitted. Wildwoods - Private bush surrounds

6 sites · RVs, Tents330 acres · Megalong, NSW
At Wildwoods you'll find 330 acres of natural bushland and a small amount of cleared farmland/paddocks with incredible views in every direction. Endless gullies, mountains, forests, cliffs, and caves to explore on the property or on the crown land adjoining. An amazing amount of wildlife - Birds, wombats, kangaroos of all kinds (wallaby, wallaroo, eastern greys etc), goannas, echidnas, turtles, ducks just to name a few. There are also plenty of roads to ride and explore via mountain bike or foot. I have only owned this property for a couple of years so there is not much here, every camper that stays helps to improve and maintain the land for future use. The road in is a little rough, and there is only a small amount of levelled land. But it is still an amazing spot, where nature does all the hard work, and I would love to share it with people. This is the perfect place for those who want to be in total peace and quiet, surrounded by nature and wildlife. Each campsite is private, some more so than others - Read each description for details. *Please note* Megalong Road (the only access in to and out of Megalong Valley) sustained a major landslide on 5/4/24. The road is open, but there is boom gates, an escort vehicle and one small lane open only. The journey down is slow, with tight corners, but it is beautiful. Take your time and enjoy it. Don't come in a hurry.

C Colo - just beautiful

7 sites · RVs, Tents10 acres · Colo, NSW
Our property contains the first road in and out of Colo - the original road is supported by hand built dry rock walls some of which are over 3 m high. Often referred to as convict built, but more likely built by freemen who were former convicts.  The property housed the load master's residence who controlled the cargo boats that docked to collect the valley’s produce. This was then transported back down the Colo River which flows into the Hawkesbury river and leads to Broken Bay following the coastline down to Old Sydney Town. The beach diagonally across the river was landed upon by members of the First Fleet’s exploratory scouting party on the lookout for quality farm land - some of which is still in production today.  Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. This deep water allows swimming and canoeing all year round. Our property is adjacent to the only council built canoe launching facilities on the Colo River.

The best camping near Blue Mountains National Park guide

Overview

About

With its sandstone cliffs, dramatic canyons, and huge eucalyptus trees from where the blue haze for which its name rises, Blue Mountains National Park is a magnet for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. You can see the famed Three Sisters rock formation from a scenic cliff-top lookout, abseil over a waterfall, and discover the Jenolan Caves. Experienced bushwalkers and climbers can also explore the deep gorges and high rocks—all while keeping an eye out for kangaroos, wallabies, and tiger quoll. The park is under an hour’s drive from Sydney.

Caravan Camping Near Blue Mountains National Park

Road trips don’t get much more scenic than the Blue Mountains National Park. Winding mountain roads and scenic lookouts afford spectacular panoramic views of the sandstone canyons, rugged peaks, and lush forests as you drive between landmarks like the Three Sisters, Wentworth Falls, and the Jamison Valley. Just an hour’s drive from Sydney and with easy access for caravans and RVs, the national park is the ideal destination for a family getaway or a back-to-nature trip. Hit the road in your caravan and head for one of the area’s many campgrounds or Hipcamps. Most of the national park campgrounds are only suitable for tents and camper trailers, but caravanners can book a spot at the council-run bush campground at Mt Wilson or check into the tourist parks at Katoomba or Blackheath, which provide powered sites and access to amenities like a camp kitchen, laundry facilities, and a dump point.

Blue Mountains National Park Glamping

If you want outdoor adventures without having to brave the bush, Sydney’s local NP has you covered. Just an hour’s drive from the capital, the Blue Mountains National Park has scenic drives, wildlife-filled bushwalks, and thrilling views. Getting back to nature is easy, whether riding the Scenic Railway or Skyway over Katoomba Falls and the Three Sisters, following the canopy walk through the Jamison Valley, or taking a tour of Jenolan Caves. The most exciting accommodation option for weekend breakers and urban campers is glamping, and you’ll find several glampsites in and around the national park. Perhaps check into a rustic mountain-view cottage, spend a fun night sleeping in a geometric dome, or rent a quirky A-frame or vintage caravan. Most glampsites come with home comforts like ensuite bathrooms, comfy beds, and heating/air-conditioning, plus you’ll likely have electrical outlets to charge your phone and a wifi connection.

Cabin Rentals Near the Blue Mountains National Park

Just an hour’s drive from the city, the Blue Mountains National Park is Sydney’s outdoor playground, complete with magnificent mountain views and UNESCO World Heritage-listed natural wonders. Exploring the Blue Mountains is great fun through all four seasons, whether you’re hiking the Grand Canyon Track or Wentworth Falls trail, exploring Jenolan Caves, or admiring views over Jamison Valley and the Three Sisters from the Scenic World Railway, Skywalk, or Cableway. Opting for a cabin rental can be a great alternative to camping for families, small groups, or those looking to get back to nature without giving up their home comforts. Whether you rent a cosy cottage with a mountain view, check into a self-contained cabin at one of Katoomba‘s tourist parks, or opt for a rustic national park cabin in the remote Megalong Valley, you’ll have a comfy bed, ensuite bathroom, and cooking facilities.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for wildlife-spotting: Eurokah Campground is popular with campers, as well as kangaroos and cockatoos.
  • Best for views: Perrys Lookdown Campground provides views over the rugged Grose Valley and Blue Gum Forest.
  • Best for secluded wilderness: Acadia Flat Campground rewards well-experienced and intrepid campers with panoramic views and plenty of space.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Bookings are required for all campgrounds in the national park and can be made in advance online. If you have trouble booking online, call the National Parks Contact Centre.
  2. Some campsites do have offices onsite, but don’t rely on being able to make a last-minute reservation.
  3. Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance. As some campgrounds only have a handful of sites, aim to book as early as possible.

When to go

Summer is definitely the most popular time to visit the Blue Mountains, but much of the rest of the year has its own appeal. While winter is cold and only suitable for experienced and well-kitted-out campers, the spring and fall seasons have the advantage of being far less crowded with mild temperatures and crisp mornings and nights.. As the Blue Mountains are a favourite weekend getaway for Sydneysiders, try visiting on a weekday for fewer crowds.

Know before you go

  • National park campsites are often remote and have limited facilities, so come prepared.
  • Perrys Lookdown only allows campers to stay for one night.
  • While 2WD vehicles can access most campgrounds, a 4WD is recommended for some, including Murphys Glen, especially after rain.
  • Getting to Acacia Flat Campground requires a two-kilometre hike from Perrys Lookout or an eight-kilometre hike from Pierces Pass.
  • Pets are not permitted anywhere in Blue Mountains National Park.
