Weekend Trip to Tweed Valley - Doon Doon Farm

Upon my arrival, Shayne greeted me and guided us to our camp site giving a detailed run down of the property. The surrounding views are as amazing as the well maintained campsite and I recommend going g for a stroll at both sunset and sunrise. There are 3 levels of spacious campgrounds with a beautiful flowing creek winding its way around the entire property. I loved camping right beside the creek and falling asleep to the running sound of water and no cicadas. When campfires were out, the night sky was lit up so brightly with thousands of stars and the Milky Way. This property is perfect for those with dogs and I imagine kids would love taking a dip in the stream and having a swing on the many that hang around the campsite. I can’t wait to come back and as much as I’d like to keep this place quiet for my own benefit, it’s one of the best campsites I’ve been to. Thanks Shayne and Kim for your hospitality

Absolutely fantastic hosts and immaculately maintained campground. Was going to share my pics of my dog and us having a ball but I’ve lost them off my phone. I can’t speak highly enough of these hosts and the lengths they go to, to make your experience safe and enjoyable. Just a great camp all round. Safe for solo female. You hear the road up the back a tiny bit and may see the white body of a truck here and there through the trees, but honestly it was comfortable and didn’t bother us in the slightest. It rained the whole time and we nearly got flooded in, despite this, I would do it again, and it was well worth it. Will be back again after Easter chaos to pick up the stuff I left behind. Thanks guys!

Great spot next to the creek. Portaloo was very clean and well-operating. Had heaps of space to myself and even a table and swing. Mind the horses in the paddock, one got a little too curious and almost into my campsite, ears back, stomping, etc.

Was tranquil listening to the running creek right by our camp site on the lower level. Nice & shady. 3 sites spaced apart for privacy. The grounds were immaculate and the owners lovely and informative and directions were easy. No mobile reception with optus but was nice & relaxing to be offgrid.

This place is amazing! The camp sites are spread out and the property is unbelievably beautiful. Keith and Xandra are amazing hosts, nothing is too much trouble. The toilets and showers are an added bonus to camping off grid. The waterfall strangler site is a beautiful large flat site to stay on. I would highly recommend staying at the Natural Bridge Retreat.

The property is wonderful, very well maintained. The owner is very attentive and friendly, always ready to help. The hot shower in the forest is an amazing experience. The bathrooms are clean, and the grass is well taken care of. The view is stunning, and the waterfall along with the sound of the water at night made for a fantastic sleep. Weekend Trip to Frog’s Hollow Scenic Rim

OK, from the beginning. The communication before we arrived was excellent, and Jackie welcomed us upon our arrival and gave us a quick rundown of the site. The whole site was very well maintained with freshly cut grass and an awesome back drop of the hills in nearly every direction you look. There were other people camping on the site, but you would have known it, it was so quiet, just what we needed. :-) We highly recommend this site.

Malabar Farm is a working Beef and Equine property situated in walking distance (600 metres to the Hotel) from the idyllic village of Uki. Steep in farming history, was originally a part of the logging district and later operated as a dairy up until early 2001. The farm nestles in to the foothills of My. Uki and the Twin Sister Mountains. The southern boundary is 2 klm of Tweed River. 3 permanent creeks meander through the property providing an abundance of wild life and camp sites to dream of. The Lakes

Our farm features lush, green rolling hills with a river, creek and dam traversing the property. There are undulating hills with pockets of forest. The campsites are nestled in the groves of trees next to the creek. There's some great swimming spots, or you can go for a bushwalk and do a spot of fossicking on the water's edge. Some parts of our property are 4WD access only, but we also have good camping spots that can accommodate 2WDs. You need to be a self-contained camper with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. Soulhaven is set on 50 stunning acres with lovely valley views and bush walks. Enjoy a toasty campfire in the evenings where you can sit back and gaze at the stars. There are trail bikes tracks nearby and the iconic Border Ranges is just past Kyogle. This campsite is 2WD friendly and caravans are welcome. You may need to level your caravan for a good night's rest. Your pet, on a lead, is welcome to camp with you. We love animals, but one of the reasons we left suburbia was to get away from barking dogs. If your dog barks at night, or is not we’ll socialised, you’re best to leave pooch at home! Our place is family friendly and we ask that you keep music and noise to a minimum after 10pm.

Emu Creek Retreat

Welcome to Emu creek Retreat One of the best destinations for hiking, camping, bushwalking, swimming, Kayaking, fishing, mountain bike riding (bicycles only), bird watching, 4wdriving and even fossicking, since the old gold mining town "Lunatics" was not far away from us. Dogs, men's best friend, are definitely welcome. If travelling in a 2wd please contact us before booking, some of the campgrounds have to be reached by crossing the creeks, Girard camp is one of them where the office and the showers are, at times this crossing is under water and is only accessible by 4wd. Other campgrounds are available near the entry gate that don't require a creek crossing for access and toilets are available on some of them. One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Gerard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m deep waterfall, nature at it's best. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in the 90's was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

The nearby National Park is Mt Chinghee, which is part of the Shield Volcano Group of the World Heritage Site Gondwana Rainforests of Australia. We have grassed valleys and forested hills, which provide the perfect setting for bush walking, bird watching, star gazing, or just relaxing. All of our camp sites are well separated from each other. If it's total seclusion and privacy you're after, "Fig Tree" and "Ridge Top" would be perfect for you. While "The Old Hut", and "Washout" are closer to the road, they are not visable to each other. Our newest addition., "The Reserve" is tucked away on the banks of a special shady grassed area with lots of room to spread out. Guests staying with us must have their own toilet/shower facilities and take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. The sites are accessible for 4WD only. Get back to nature and explore. Many native animals have been spotted on the property wallabies, possums, echidnas, goannas, bandicoots, dingos, and koalas as well as a large variety of birds. Also a variety of frogs i.e.. Red/orange eyed tree frog, desert tree frog, white lipped tree frog, striped and spotted marsh frogs, striped rocket frog and stoney creek frogs. ( see how many different calls you can hear) This beautiful 200acre property in Camp Creek is part of the original "selection" by William Dimmock in 1895. It was a dairy farm, and at one stage the family grew market garden crops on a plateau high up the mountain, using a flyingfox to bring the crops down. Originally the property took in "Screw Gully" from Glenapp up to Tartar Creek Rd. In the 60's Jim Dimmick (grandson to William) sold out and the land was sub-divided. The property now supports up to 40 head of breeding cattle and 2 retired horses. Scenic Rim hosts local wineries; restaurants and coffee shops, and Mt Tamborine, all within an hour drive. Glendaryn Campgrounds

Glendaryn, our property, is located 30 kms west of Kyogle and 2 hours from the Gold Coast. Featuring 35 acres consisting mainly of creek flats on the banks of Iron Pot Creek, a permanent creek which runs from nearby Toonumbar dam, this place is perfect to pitch a tent. The dam is only 2 km away and has a boat ramp. Iron Pot provides scenic camping spots with fishing (bass and cat fish), swimming, hiking, kayaking and there are bush roads nearby suitable for horse riding. This campsite welcomes self-contained campers with your own camping toilet/shower. Fresh drinking water is available at the shed as well as a firepit area however wood is not provided. Bring your horse and put up a yard or safe yards are available. Dogs are welcome as long as they are controlled and don’t chase our horses and the local wild life. There are a variety of camping sites near the creek and also one on the hill overlooking the flats. The property is situated at the base of MT Lion and on Lynches creek which flows from the rainforest. There are great hiking tracks with beautiful views of the Border Rangers and surrounds. There is also an abundance of wildlife, Koala's are often about if you look up for them usually early morning or late afternoon. You will also come across our beautiful Simmental cattle on the hike they are very quite. There is also Fern gully picnic spot on the hike which is a great spot to relax or do some morning yoga at the small waterfall . Children will also find fairy homes. .Fern Gully is a very tranquil place. If you would like to meet the horse's, just message me to come and meet them,They are Arabians and love attention. There is 1 km of creek to explore with great fishing spots you can catch Perch ,Cat fish Mullet ,and Carp. The creek is good to kayak. One of our favourite things to do is fossicking you can find Quartz, Citrine and Jasper. The Village of Wiangaree is just 4klm from the camp grounds they have great coffee and hot food and also do Friday night meals. And in walking distance of 200 meters is Ferndale Pantry which sells sourdough, eggs, chutneys, cakes and more. We are also a 10klm drive to to the Border Rangers National Park. The Campgrounds are beautifully shaded and are situated on the creek. There are 5 spacious dispersed sites which can have 12 people. ,Each site can have 2 vehicles which include caravan/trailers ect. There are fire pits available and fire wood is available for $20 a wheelbarrow full just ask on arrival. Rubbish must be taken with you when you leave. There is no toilet, you must bring your own toilet and take home all waste. And no potable water. Enjoy your stay at the beautiful Scrub. Check in from 1pm till 8pm and checkout at midday. Top of the World

Look for the big red letterbox with the blue flag on the right. This spot is for people that think that they are the only ones left in the world. Once at the top, it's yours to live in peace and quiet. 56 acres of undulating hills covered with native bush land, with 10 cleared sites for you to set up camp. If you like an adventure then this mountain is for you. 2 sites called "Top of the world tent site 1 and tent site 2" are accessible by 4WD only (tent camping is advised) There is a step 19 degree road up to the penthouse summit thats at 1000ft. However if it is dry you can tow a camping trailer but only if you have a winch. If it rains the only way down is backwards tethered to trees via your winch. It's an adventure. Campers are welcome to have a campfire, there is plenty of timber on the ground that you can collect or bring your own. As long as there is no fire ban. There are some great bush walks you can enjoy, including down to the creek (about a 40 min walk). The creek is picturesque with lemon trees and peach trees along the edge while in season. There are 2 sites down at the creek called Firefly's and platypus and these are for off road self contained 4x4 campers and those with a tent. The creek is pristine and crystal clear unless it's raining. These 2 sites are absolutely private if you book them both. If you don't mind sharing the creek with another camper then you only need to book 1 site. There is also a 10 month of the year 30 metre high waterfall (depending on rain fall this waterfall can vary from massive water to slow water) and another seasonal waterfall. Don't forget the dam for swimming with the spa tub and fresh mountain spring water constantly flowing into it from an inch and a half poly pipe constantly overflowing into the dam. The water in the creek is safe to drink with no filter needed. The creek is running and crystal clear and very private. If you are in a 2 wheel drive RV/ Motorhome you can book the "Paw Paw hill site" or "a dam good view" There is one site that is all grass accessible in the dry weather. Plenty of drinking water is also available at all sites either via a tap or the creek running water. All campers MUST HAVE their own portable toilet. If no portable toilet you can purchase one from many camping stores at a reasonable price before coming. Doing number 2 in the bush is totally unacceptable. Because this is a leave no trace camp site we do ask you to take all trash with you when you leave as well. There is no council rubbish collection in this area. We respect our beautiful paradise and we know you will appreciate it also. If you make a fire please leave it so I can mow around it once you leave. E.G Please remove all sticks.

Tuntable Bush Camp

A modest set-up in the hills with choice of a provided caravan, your own small campervan, or tent. Gas hot shower shack with adjacent compost toilet provided in the paddock with a view. Neighbours have pigs and cows, and we have loads of wallabies and birds. There is access to 2 lovely forested walks down to a little creek where you'll find a shady picnic spot to rest and wet your feet. Feel free to pick from the circular communal veggie garden adjacent to the shower. 1.2km down the road is a great shady swimming hole on the large Tuntable Creek, also a great picnic spot and area to explore. There is also a dam here which dogs can swim in close to camping.
