If you know wine, then you may be familiar with Mudgee, a charming town located just under four hours by car from Sydney. Popular activities in town include wine tasting, hot air balloon rides, and checking out the night sky at the Mudgee Observatory, just outside of town. Mudgee also makes a good base for visiting the UNESCO-recognized Wollemi National Park, part of the largest wilderness areas in New South Wales. While Mudgee proper is very much a developed town (and has been since the 19th century), there are loads of glamping options not far from town, most of which are private farm stays that offer a mix of tent and caravan camping sites along with bell tents. You may need to bring your own bedding to some, but quite a few glampsites offer proper beds with bedding and outdoor showers and toilet facilities.
