Explore the Sunshine Coast Hinterlands from this hillside village.
Surrounded by the lush rainforest-clad hills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterlands, the small village of Flaxton is an idyllic starting point for hikers and nature lovers. Work up an appetite with a hike to nearby Baxter Falls, then snag a table at Flaxton Gardens for afternoon tea. Next, head to Kondalilla Falls National Park, just south of town, to explore the trails and cool off at the waterholes. A little further, Mapleton Falls National Park and Maleny National Park both have great day hikes and bike trails. Campers have options in the hinterlands, and although there are no campgrounds in Flaxton itself, you’ll find farm stays, glampsites, and bush camps dotted around the neighbouring towns. Backpackers tackling the long-distance Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk, which runs right past Flaxton, can pitch their tent at the hike-in campsite just outside the village.
