Hold it Flats is a 120 acre property that borders the beautiful O'Connell River that has water all year round. Take a walk around the property to check out some of the creatures that have been built out of scrap metal and bush bars that have been built all around the property. There is nice shady, green grass and flat camping sites right beside the river with hot showers and flushing toilets. There is plenty of room and some great tracks for the kids and the big kids to ride their push bikes on. The swimming hole is about 2 meters deep and has big shady trees on the edge. There is also enough room for kids to bring their kayaks and have a paddle along the river. All campsites can be provided with their own fire pit. You just pick your spot and we will bring a portable fire pit to you. Fire wood can be purchased at the property. All rubbish must be taken when you, there are no rubbish bins provided.

We have fire pits to keep you warm on the cool winter nights as you sit around and share your travel stories. Sit back in tranquility as you watch the platypus, turtles and wild life gather in and around the billabong as the sun sets. It's a great way to finish the day. We also offer indoor accommodation for those who prefer all the mod cons. There are toilets and hot showers for campers, and access to the laundry. We have potable water hookups at most camp sites and we also offer four powered sites. You can use one of the two camp kitchens to cook your meals and use the picnic table for meals. When you pay to stay here - you are helping us pay for the care of our injured and orphaned wildlife as all proceeds we make from our little hipcamp help us rescue, rehabilitate and release our native wildlife. We are located on a bush block across the road from the beach giving you access to great fishing and crabbing, or a simple walk on the beach. There is a takeaway shop and tavern a short drive away. We have a small 1 acre open space area for self contained campers to set up and enjoy the area hence why we have a limit of x4 campsites to ensure you have your own space. We tend to leave you to do your thing, however we are available if you need anything. With a communal fire pit and plenty of wood to burn. Enjoy your tranquil escape to Midge Point. We are a member of the Wildlife Land Trust and listed as a Wildlife Sanctuary. This helps us become a release site for our local native wildlife and furthers our efforts with Wildlife Care and Rehabilitation. Please note: You must be self contained to stay here as there are no amenities. Grey water can be placed on the trees. Dogs are allowed however will need to be kept on leads at all times to ensure they do not chase the wildlife. We do have wildlife in care behind fences and in cages :- however we ask that you please do not touch as the animals are being prepared to be released back into the wild. We also have x2 very demanding Pygmy Goats that like to welcome you to the morning by singing you the songs of their people.

Dalrymple Heights Rainforest Stay

If you want to get away from it all and relax beside a beautiful crystal clear spring-fed creek with a rainforest backdrop while clouds float by, then this is a place for you. We have one creek site with or without power, you will have the place to yourselves with the exception of us in the main residence up the hill. We are not a commercial campground and are in process of restoring the property back to its glory and bring back the native animals after being effected by bushfires in 2018. There are BBQ and fire pit areas setup for your use at the site and firewood is readily available at fee. The property is located 800m above sea level 11km up Dalrymple Road in Eungella. The property entrance is concealed and on the left side were wheelie bins are located and opposite a traffic mirror. From the front gate which is on your left and has a Land for Wildlife sign is a locked gate. Eungella National Park is boarding the back of the property where the cloud rainforest and creek are located. Nights can be cold and rain sometimes unpredictable. We have a 150 acre property, 50 acres of which is rainforest with a magical creek winding through it. Rainforest walks have been marked or you can just follow the creek and discover secluded swimming holes with small waterfalls. There are leaches in the rainforest and we recommend that you bring insect repellent and adequate hiking gear. You will love the bird watching, sighting the native animals with many rare species around. Forest bathing is a must with areas setup to sit and relax. During November firefly´s drift through the property at dusk. Rosellas, King Parrots and Finch's are popular on the property and Cockatoos make a regular visit. After a good rain, a frog fest starts and can be heard all night. There are chickens free ranging and Kookaburras have a good laugh at them most days. Access to the property is by booking only, we recommend, 4WD and AWD during the wet season but 2WD is ok during the dry times. High clearance caravans up to 7m or medium size campers are ok, we have a long gravel entry road into the property with inclines and tight bends as shown in photos. A tractor is available on site if needed in wet conditions. Campers are preferred to have own amenities and all waste has to be collected and taken off the property. Use of the amenity block is available at the main residence and on request. Washing machine and dryer are available for a fee. Please contact us if you need further information. This is a dog (10kg and less) and horse friendly property. We have many ground feeding birds and wallabies and request that animals not wonder unattended. If your pet is well trained and can be restrained from casing wildlife please ask for confirmation to bring them along. Please note that we have parasite ticks on the property and recommend that you give your pet a tick treatment prior to arriving. We have no mobile phone coverage on the camp site, limited coverage if you drive up the hill at the highest point. Internet is available at the main residence at a fee per stay.
