    Rosalie was a great host. Good directions and a friendly welcome. The site was perfect. Even though SA and Kangaroo Island is in drought, the site was picturesque and peaceful. Very quiet and at night very dark!! The campsite is on a working farm and the sheep loved to visit. The site is well located, only 20mins to Kingscote and many of the NE attractions.

    We lived camping at Stephen's. Its a lovely location with beautiful Bay of Shoals and Emu Bay close by and only a short drive to Kingston. The land itself is accessible with views, plenty of space and wildlife. Communication was great and Stephen welcoming. Highly recommend.

    I stayed in hbc1 site. It is nestled between the dunes and a grove of trees so protected from the wind. It is only small but big enough for my roof top tent / car combo and just enough space to turn around and get back out. It is primative as described but it was a great little spot to spend the night after my tour. The pit toilet is a fair distance (I'd drive) away but I had my own so it was not a problem.

    We loved camping at Nat & Stu’s; it’s completely private except for the abundant wildlife, the large covered verandah area is a great plus, as is the flush toilet and rain tank water. Vivionne Bay is 10 minutes down the road where there is a great little cafe / general store, and it’s perfectly situated for everything the South Coast has to offer. It’s about 45 minutes to Kingscote, which is the biggest / best serviced township on the island.

    Well equipped bush camp with 100 acres of regenerating bushland all to ourselves. Loved looking at all the different plants growing abundantly. Great having a long verandah and bathroom to wash up as well as rainwater. A great relaxing stay.

    My partner and I loved camping at Beth & Andrews land! There was plenty of room so we had lots of space to ourselves and then really appreciated the small walk to the beach which we basically had to ourselves the whole time! The jetty and pub were also a short walk away and there were Markets on near the Community Centre so we treated ourselves to some whiting tortillas from there! Absolutely loved our stay and had a fantastic time. Would return again for sure! Thankyou for having us Beth & Andrew 😊

    Loved spending a couple of nights at this camp site. Wonderful 5-minute walk to the Beach, and plenty of space for the kids to run around. Great hosts who welcomed us, and assisted with any questions. One thing to note is there are a lot of prickles in the paddock. It is the country so it is to be expected. We put down our C-Mat and had no worries!

Welcome to Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, a privately-owned conservancy focused on providing habitat for native animals to live in the wild. Since 1997 the Sanctuary has worked to conserve and protect the natural resources within its boundaries, especially the native Australian flora and fauna. We have a BEACH camp site available that offer spectacular ocean views of the wild south coast. Campers will have access to a pit toilet during their stay. There is a 2 night maximum stay. You will find plenty of sightseeing opportunities and interesting places to visit within easy reach of Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Although much of the western end of Kangaroo Island was severely impacted by the January 2020 bushfires, the uniquely Australian story of rebirth and regeneration after fire is compelling. Much of the western end of Kangaroo Island is covered in parks and reserves and it is often referred to as the natural end of the Island. You will find large areas of pristine natural bushland, numerous native wildlife, spectacular, rugged coastal cliffs and beautiful seascapes and beaches. Throughout the wilderness areas you will also discover old buildings and ruins which have been preserved because of their historical role in the development of the island. And if that is not enough to hold your interest, you can swim in the bay, fish from a sandy beach, dive some ship wrecks, surf some big waves, go sand boarding or go bush walking, Whatever your interest, you will find plenty of things to do on your next holiday at the Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. FLINDERS CHASE NATIONAL PARK The Flinders Chase National Park covers much of the western end of Kangaroo Island. The park has a diverse range of wildlife including Platypus, Kangaroos, Koalas and Cape Barren Geese. Flinders Chase offers stunning coastal landscapes, vast areas of wilderness and a variety of recreational opportunities. There is a network of walking trails throughout the park providing you with numerous bushwalking opportunities. REMARKABLE ROCKS Remarkable Rocks is an impressive cluster of sculpted granite boulders perched on a huge rounded granite dome that drops steeply away to the surging seas some 70 metres below. ADMIRALS ARCH Admirals Arch is a spectacular archway formed by the relentless waves pounding the cliffs and cutting a path through the cliffs.     Welcome to your dream destination!! We have two different locations available in Kangaroo Island with some options of sites in each. Below you can see details for our Farm stays or Emu Bay Hideaway camp spots. Check below to see what sites are currently open. Emu Bay Hideaway has 30 hectares of peace, mainly vegetated with Kangaroo Island Narrow-leaved Mallee (Eucalyptus cneorifolia, a nationally-protected ecological community). Kangaroos and wallabies are in abundance. It has a wonderful feeling of remoteness and seclusion yet is so close to iconic Emu Bay. Those with 4WD may choose sites overlooking Shoal Bay towards Kingscote. Alternatively, you may set up camp anywhere on the property. There is even one under-cover position with a concrete floor for those concerned about the weather. There are no amenities so guests need to be 100% self-sufficient (including BYO drinking water and toilet) and leave no trace. It is a wild block and only five minutes from the iconic Emu Bay, where the white sandy beach runs for 4kms, most of which is backed by 10 to 20-meter-high dunes. It is one of the best beaches on the island with crystal-clear water. Check with me before lighting a campfire - this depends on the season and risk. Dogs are permitted if well controlled (register visiting dogs with local council). IMPORTANT: I have very limited access to the Internet, only periodically every few days, if that, therefore, I may take some time to respond to inquiries.     Welcome to Marron Bush Escape, located in Gosse, in the Western River area (western end, near Flinders Chase National Park) of beautiful Kangaroo Island! This is a beautiful, remote, rural 250 acre private property, it is home to a number of sheep, features dams that have Marron and boasts the best that nature has to offer. Rest assured, you will not see any neighbours on this property; just picturesque landscapes everywhere you look! It is approximately a 1.5 hour drive from Penneshaw, where you get off the ferry. We offer powered and unpowered camp sites, as well as a bush, cabin. Camp fires (small) are allowed when fire restrictions allow. There is a fire pit that can be used when there is no fire ban, with barbecue plate and camp ovens for old-style bush cooking or cooking up your fresh organic Kangaroo Island Marron. There is a drop toilet at the back and external lights and an external kitchen sink with hot and cold water. There is one drop dunny and limited rain water (you are welcome to bring your own drinking water if you need extra). For your convenience, there are recycling and rubbish bins at corner of Snug and Colman’s Rd for all waste disposal. On half of our property we have sheep and lambs in the paddocks. Bring your camera, and you just might be lucky enough to see little lambs playing and even being born. We may also be shearing and invite you to see how this is done. The other half of the property is untouched natural scrub with grass and trees 12 foot tall. There are koalas, eagles, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and lots of other native animals and a creek with small waterfalls. In winter time the ground can be boggy, so a 4WD is desirable and will allow you to explore further. From the cabin, make your way down past the dams and go through the shiny gate at the bottom of the hill (please close the gate behind you). Here, you'll discover 125 acres of untouched Kangaroo Island wilderness with walking trails to explore. Keep an eye out for koalas, kangaroos, wedge-tail eagles, wallabies, large grass trees etc We also have two small lakes that you can have a picnic by or drop some Marron nets in for a fresh feed. There are weighing scales provided at the shed so you can pay for them. This is on an honesty system- so please do the right thing, as we have already been burnt from the fires. You must contact me if you wish to fish for marron prior to catching any. There are no shops or restaurants close by (stock up before arriving!) and you will need to travel down dirt roads but you will really have the opportunity to get off the grid, get back to nature and make memories in the stunning, untouched, Kangaroo Island wilderness! Local attractions include: Kelly Hill Caves Flinders Chase National Park Stokes Bay Cape Borda Lighthouse Middle River Western River

    Where to go

    North Coast

    A road trip along the north coast of Kangaroo Island will take you past soaring sea cliffs, sandy coves, and scenic vineyards. Stop to swim or fish along the white-sand beaches of Emu Bay, explore the rock pools of Stokes Bay, or hit the surf and check out the famous sunsets at Snellings Beach. There’s also great bird-watching around Western River and Pelican Lagoon.

    South Coast

    Outdoor adventures and wildlife-watching opportunities await along the south coast. Go sandboarding at the Little Sahara sand dunes, enjoy swimming and kayaking along the Harriet River, and spot sea lions at Seal Bay Conservation Park. Nearby, Murray Lagoon is known for its bird-filled wetlands, while Vivonne Bay and D’Estrees Bay are home to some of the island’s best surf beaches.

    West End

    Despite being ravaged by wildfires in 2019-20, the western coast is still the highlight of Kangaroo Island and home to some of its most scenic camping spots. Explore Flinders Chase National Park on a 4WD tour or hike the five-day Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail, admiring famous viewpoints such as Admirals Arch and Remarkable Rocks along the way. 

    Dudley Peninsula

    If you’re cruising to the island from the mainland, your first stop will be the ferry terminal at Penneshaw. Famous for its colonies of Little Penguins, which can be viewed on a night tour, the port town is also the gateway to the Dudley Peninsula. The eastern tip of the island is the spot to escape the crowds—head to one of the bushland camping areas along the Chapman River or snag a glampsite looking out over Hog Bay.
