Semaphore Farm is a 400-acre property with convict history, bordering the Po historic site. It is a private timber reserve and a working forest farm. We have a combination of native eucalypt forest and plantation, and we grow hay and our own beef.
We have many walking and bike trails through 150 acres of forest and pasture accessible to campers.
The campsite has spring water on tap, a hot shower, toilet, rustic camp kitchen, wood stove, gas BBQ, level sites, and a campfire when permitted. Tent sites are flexible so you can choose your own space within a 2-hectare area, while Level pad sites are limited.
The Port Arthur Historic Site and a safe swimming beach are within walking distance and Safety Cove and Remarkable Cave are only a 5-minute drive away. Longer walks, including the Three Capes tracks, are easily accessible.
Launch your boat nearby to access good fishing or fish for squid off the Port Arthur jetty.
There is plenty of wildlife to see at night and birds during the day. You might even see our resident Wedgetail Eagle!

When you arrive with a big trailer enter through the WOODEN GATES and stay on the flat. Walk up and visit the farmhouse.

Fickle Break Farm is a 28-acre coastal property on the doorstep of a world-class surf break, only 30 mins from Hobart. You can walk out the door with your surfboard, bike, or running shoes and jump in the ocean or onto several beautiful coastal walking and riding trails.
We are 10 minutes away from Lauderdale shops and 10 mins to the best surf beaches in Hobart on the South Arm Peninsula.
Pitch your tent or park your set up on our beautiful grassy hilltop campsite overlooking the South Arm Peninsula and Mt Wellington in the distance. You'll enjoy good access to Mays Point surf break and the Clarence Coastal Trail just a few mins away with walking tracks to Cremorne and Lauderdale along the coast.
The camping area has a communal fire pit, access to fresh water and power in our large shed if needed, and a table tennis table. We are on tank water, so please be mindful of this. And please drive slowly and be mindful of treading lightly on the land.
We also offer a 5m lotus belle stargazer tent, situated at the very top of the property, nestled amongst the native trees and with water views, it has a luxurious queen-sized bed with beautiful linens and is a short walk away from the walking tracks to the beach.
All guests have access to our well-maintained composting toilet with water views and a beautiful hot outdoor shower that is open to the sky.
Next door is a large sheep property, and on our land we have friendly chooks, peacocks, Guinea pigs, miniature goats, horses and a border collie. Guests and children are welcome to pat, feed and cuddle the chooks, Guinea pigs, horses and the miniature goats!
Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly with other dogs and people, and can be trusted not to escape to the next-door sheep property (beware as farmers can be ruthless with dogs!). They will need to be supervised and restrained (tied up or placed in our closed-in yard at night so they don’t disturb wallabies and other wildlife).
We love meeting new people and are passionate about our beautiful property so we can’t wait to share it with you!

Our trio of Suri Alpacas are a wonderful blend of goofy and graceful. They will come and say hello and Thunder gives cute 'eskimo kisses'
Penelope Jane (PJ) and Duncan are our gorgeous mini donkeys, they are endless fun watching them play and wrestle. They both love a good scratch and cuddles and plenty of human company.
Our 3 mini goats Huckleberry, Dudley and Elfie are cheeky little chappies and what they lack in size, they make up for in character. They all like a good head scratch and pat
Wildlife Encounters:
We also share our 100 acre hobby farm with an array of Tasmanian native wildlife including wallabies, pademelons, possums, echidnas, bandicoots, wombats, quolls and even Tassie Devils. Wedge tail eagles and hawks soar the dams, native hens (turbo chooks!) rush around the paddocks and if you are lucky you may spot a tawny frogmouth sitting on the fence watching for his prey at night.
Nature enthusiasts and photographers will find plenty of opportunities to observe and capture the unique flora and fauna of Tasmania.

The Duck Hole at Farnese Olivo

Farnese Olivo is a family hobby farm set on 5 acres overlooking the Coal River Valley in Acton Park, just 15 minutes from Hobart CBD.
The Duck Hole is a historic farm dam offering a quiet rural experience.
COMPLIMENTARY INCLUSIONS:

The property was established in the early 1980s on the site of one of Hobarts oldest farms (the original house built in 1826 still stands as a beautiful family home 2 doors up on our street).
The old dairy still stands as visitor accomodation opposite the front of our property offering a glimpse of farm life from the past 200 years.
A tradition we maintain today with having a sustainable orchard with just over 100 trees. Seasonal Fresh produce is available to purchase.
We are home to two friendly hand reared sheep (they love cuddles and food!), Ducks (Wild and Pet) and Chickens.
Overlooking the historic dam there is a shared fire pit with firewood supplied complimentary.
We ask that on days of total fire ban, this is respected.
We can only accept self-contained campers, so you will need to have your own camp toilet. There is a dump point within 6km, located in Cambridge Park for those with their own toilet.
Public toilet and showers are located close by at Seven Mile Beach and Roches Beach (both about 5 mins drive)
Some minor leveling may be required. The sheep pen and duck hole sites are pretty much flat.
As we have farm animals, you will get to hear our sheep and ducks enjoying their environment. However, it is very quiet of an evening/night.
We love meeting new people and are passionate about our property we can’t wait to share it with you and your family!
Check in MUST be between 12pm and 8pm due to safety.

The Bunkhouse at Camp Infinite

Located an hours drive North West of Hobart near the quaint little town of Ouse (pronounced - ooze) and set on the pristine Derwent River. Like so many of the towns on the Derwent River, this region is very popular with bushwalkers, fishing enthusiasts, and mountain bike riders.
Overlooking the "pot-belly" of the Derwent River, This place is a fishing and kayaking heaven . Have a swim in summer, kayak or go for an adventure on your mountain bike. There are two kayaks and two SUPs you are welcome to use. And there is a boat ramp just a few kms down the road to launch your boat.
The Bunkhouse is a beautifully built structure, with large windows and plenty of space. It's two storey, with the upper open-plan level accommodating 8 people in single bunk beds. A further two guests can sleep on the large sofa bed downstairs.
The bunkhouse is fully self-contained with a kitchenette, toilet and shower.Clean sheets and blankets . Wi- Fi and streamed TV movie channels Please note - this is not the ritz! It's a simple bunkhouse, providing shelter to sleep, in a great location. If you wish to make use of the firepit, you'll need to BYO wood, this firepit is not often used. Instead, we'd recommend bringing a small portable bbq with you to set up by the river!

THIS IS A WORKING FARM WITH MANY FREE ROAMING ANIMALS!
Check in after 9am you get a whole day BEFORE you camp for the night and check out by 3pm this way you get another day here and plenty of daylight to get to your next place.
This place has river flats surrounded by wilderness and is the first private property on the river, so therefor the LAST property at the end of the road before the road goes into Forestry tracks. Many would consider this place to be very remote.....to us it is close to the City only 50 minutes away over the Mountain gravel roads. If you want to travel on mostly sealed roads go through Fingal and PAST Mathinna. Check maps before you leave as NO reception out here.
It is 40 acres and we have MANY MANY free roaming animals, milking goats, ducks, chickens, cows, 3 BIG dogs and a pet pig who loves a belly rub. (The dogs will get out of the way of cars so just drive ahead and the dogs will move out of your way they have big barks but they are friendly) PLEASE NOTE: If you have any issues with dogs let us know in ADVANCE and we can lock them in their yard for your stay.
EVERYONE is told upon arrival to honk/toot your horn if you have any issues or need help and one of us will come and help if you let us know! Otherwise we leave people in peace to camp as they wish and where they want.
The property has a big guest house that is currently empty, this is where the flushing toilet is for you to use whilst camping if you like.
This Rustic country house is also available for hire/rent, there is hot water via a woodfire (takes up to 5 hours to heat up water $50 per wheelbarrow load of wood) with Big triangle bath and a shower for use if you book the house, (3 single beds and a few new double bed air mattresses are available for your less rugged campers who want to come but need that extra comfort or to be close to a toilet at $40 per person per night.) You are welcome to come camping anytime with a range of needs catered to. Sorry no wheelchair ramps, a single step into the house and one step into the toilet too.
Pick whatever spot you like to camp upon, by the river, the rocky island in the river, in the bush, just on the paddock grass anywhere. The big house is for you to use the toilet, kitchen sink and feel free to have a cold shower if you want. You can wander on the property connect with us and if you like you can help feed the animals. We are very happy to host people who love nature and enjoy organic farm life. There is NO wifi or mobile phone reception ZERO, so you can finally enjoy total tranquility.

2 options available:
Comfortable lodging (rustic but stylish converted horse barn) with a double bed in the loft, clean sheets provided, living and kitchen area. Magnificent ocean views from the lounge or when lying in bed next to the window upstairs.
There is also a Camp site available for just one group at a time in a relatively flat area.
The camp area and barn are in a peaceful location in a pasture paddock on 4 acres with lots of birdlife and walks nearby. It's a 10 minute walk through the property and along the picturesque cliff top coastline to the neck beach or just five minutes walk down to the sea cave. The main house where we live part time is on the property, but you still have your own space and privacy.
Dogs are subject to pre-approval but must be kept under control if our horses or dogs are on the property. The property boundary is fenced so there is plenty of exercise space. Horses may be in rhe paddock in winter and spring. We will advise you when booking if they are. .
And please don’t expect Airbnb standards if you chose to stay in the barn. This is a fun affordable upgrade/escape from camping without the glamour and high fees of glamping.

Launceston and North
Launceston is the gateway to northern Tasmania, where you can hop between colonial towns, sample Tassie wines in the Tamar Valley, or catch coastal views and diverse wildlife at the Narawntapu and Mt. William national parks.

The glacial lakes and wildflower-carpeted moorlands of Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park are northern highlights, watched over by the much-photographed Cradle Mountain. Ambitious hikers can tackle the popular 65-kilometre Overland Track.
