WILDLIFE: All manner of birdlife, wombats, possums, wallabies, kangaroos, foxes, deer, water rats, platypus and trout. We are happy to point you toward the best places to see deer feeding and wallowing, fox cubs playing and platypus swimming. FARM: This is a functioning farm; there are cows and calves most of the year. Our cows are very friendly and curious, and whilst we endeavour to keep them away from the campsite, sometimes they can't help themselves! EXPLORING: Our property joins onto State Forest, which can be explored at guests own risk, once you set foot off our property, Hipcamp no longer insures against injury etc. Within our property, we have bush tracks, animal trails and a trickling stream running through a beautiful, shallow gorge, where many adventures have been had! WATER PLAY: Our sites make the most of the creek flowing through the property; Creek Ford and Shady Shallows have the best water access and are especially great for kids. Please be mindful of children around water, an adult must be present at all times. CAMPFIRES: Who doesn't love a good campfire?! We have numerous fire pits at the campsites that are there to be used. No chainsaws are to be used on the property, as per Hipcamps insurance policy. There is plenty of wood around that you are welcome to collect yourselves, otherwise, we can supply loads of wood for $50 (enough for a campfire over a long weekend). SETTING UP CAMP: Please be mindful of where you choose to set up your camp. While we endeavour to keep the sites as safe as possible, some hazards include; trees and limbs falling, snakes and thistles. TRACK CONDITION The track to the campsite is bumpy and needs to be driven slowly, we have had a 22ft caravan towed by a 100 series set up here with no troubles. FIREARMS: as per Hipcamps insurance policy, no firearms are to be used on the property. We understand that State Forest attracts hunting, which we are all for, however, we ask you to respect our wishes and keep all firearms legally stored while you are on our property. Do speak to us for some local knowledge about great hunting spots! WHAT'S AROUND? BENAMBRA is a small, remote farming community 15 minutes from the property. There you will find a post office and general store, a small playground, public toilets and a great pub open for beautiful meals and cold beers Tues-Sun nights! OMEO is about 30 minutes from the property, where there is a state-of-the-art pump track, brand new mountain bike trails, two pubs, a bakery, plenty of cafes/eateries, Foodworks, hardware supplies and a camping and fishing shop. We are offering our paddock for easy, convenient camping. We are located half way ( 20mins drive ) between Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance. Our local pub and general store are only a 6 minute drive away. Our place offers an access gate onto the famous 'East GippslandRail Trail'. The paddock itself is roughly 4 acres. We are happy to have horses stay as well as dogs so long as temporary fencing is provided by equine owners. Check out the famous 90mile beach, and even the locally owned buisness 'venture out' that hires stand up paddle boards/bikes and more for your convenience located in lakes entrance. Although we do not offer toilets and showers, there are toilets and showers only 6minutes drive down the road at the local Johnsonville boat ramp, and also a dumping point at Nicholson boat ramp (10minutes drive). We have lots of amazing fishing spots on offer in our area, some are as little as (5mins) away. Boat ramp located only (6mins drive) at Johnsonville. We welcome boats to stay also but do recommend flushing your boats at one of the local car washes, due to us not offering the facilities to complete your boat care. We are also only 15minutes from the Metung hot springs. Or head the other way to Paynesville and Raymond Island to see the Koalas and kangaroos and have a dining experience with a water view (only 35mins drive). We have our beautiful local swim spot at Tambo Bay (14-minute drive) from our camping paddock, that's perfect for a wind down on a summer's day. Or if you just want to relax and wind down, you might just enjoy admiring the birds around you and the frogs singing from dusk till dawn in the dam located within the camping paddock. Pets are welcome, we ask that you take all rubbish with you on departure.

Generators are allowed but only for limited time to charge essential equipment. Only a 5 minute walk to the NOWA NOWA GENERAL STORE/Post Office. You can get local fishing information from the friendly staff, stock up on fuel, groceries, wine/beer, fishing tackle, bait, fire wood and more without having to drive! MINGLING WATERS CARAVAN PARK/Cafe is the place to go for top quality coffee, brekky, and their famous carrot cake and burgers, only a 5 minute walk (currently temporarily closed) Opposite Mingling Waters is another 'must visit' while in Nowa Nowa. THE DEPOT, HOME OF TEXTILES. Local honey and home made jams and biscuits. Espresso coffee and turmeric latte. Handcrafted textiles, jewellery and more (check Facebook for opening hours) We are within easy reach of the EAST GIPPSLAND RAIL TRAIL which is popular for both bike riders and walkers. There are plenty of other great bushwalking tracks nearby as well. The location is ideal for people who enjoy the outdoors, lake fishing, boating, bird watching, walking and cycling. It's just a short drive to the beautiful seaside town of LAKES ENTRANCE where they have shops, cafes, restaurants, great fresh seafood and lovely beaches. BRUTHEN is only a 20 minute drive. BRUTHEN HOTEL, Cafes, Antique shops, Galleries andthe BULL-ANT BREWERY are musts to check out! The BUCHAN CAVES RESERVE is another short drive. Picnic spots, camping ground, walking tracks and a variety of flora and fauna, including koalas, over forty species of birds, kangaroos and currawongs. While in Buchan check out the famous BUCHAN PUB for a meal and a beer. 25 minute drive East and you are in ORBOST, a small East Gippsland town surrounded by national parks, forests and beaches. Recharge at the town's cafes and bakeries, then visit galleries and see the historical Slab Hut, an original 1872 pioneer hut relocated from the upper Snowy River and now home to the tourist information centre. Wildlife around the beach and lakes includes kangaroos, pelicans and dolphins so bring your camera!

These campsites are right on the Snowy River with flat grass to setup on. This spot is an excellent fishing spot for Bream, if fishing is your thing this is a very good place to camp. The riverbank here has rocks on it and small black crabs can be found for bait. An absolutely beautiful place to wake up in and relax, it is where the river wraps around the second island directly in front and the entrance to Lake Corringle. Lots of room to spread out and set up - not crowded at all. 4x4 and all-wheel drive access only. Guests are required to be fully self-sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Campfires are permitted when there are no restrictions in place which is most of the time. They must be kept contained and at a reasonable size. Boats can be launched nearby and moored at your campsite. Samphire can be picked and eaten from this location. Boat access directly to Marlo Hotel and river mouth. Pets welcome.

The area has a lot of old gold mines within a 5 kilometre walk and many bike trails surrounded by mostly thick trees. Take your mountain bike on the old gold mining tracks which some would say are 4x4 trails but I have a station wagon and if you go slow it's ok. Turn right at Bush Pixie Mating Circle in Google Maps. This campsite has access to drinking water and a toilet (but no shower). There is access to rubbish facilities. Relax by the crackling fire in the evenings. We offer sites for self-contained campers only and there is no services, pets are welcome. Please note - All the area that has been slashed in the front paddocks you can camp in and spread out.Beach access is straight over the road from the front gate. You can lite fires and firewood is for sale at the farm gate store honesty box further down the road from the gate you enter if you don't bring your own.Escape the modern tourist world and in a pristine, undeveloped old country farming area right on the coast near the mouth of the famous Snowy River. Amazing fishing in both the River and Corringle Beach, with many different species caught at different times of the year. Enjoy the 40-kilometre deserted beach, sun baking (even nude if that's your thing), and swimming, but care must be taken (unpatrolled surf beach). Romantic sunsets with no one but the odd seal and sounds of the waves to disturb you. Beach fire at night is something special to do. The beach track is across from the front gate, there is no beach sign from the road because the public will then use the track which is only for Hipcampers and you wont enjoy the deserted beach. Call me if you cant find the track, but most people have not had a problem. This walking access is steep, easier tracks can be driven to down the road.Or take a dip in the river further down the road, and explore the waterways, with many birds; black swans in the lakes next to camp, plus kangaroos, wombats, emu and deer. There is a boat ramp just down the road to explore the river system. Perfect for water sports, and with fish cleaning tables at the wharf.  Go by boat to the Marlo Hotel from the wharf straight over the river.Orbost is 15 minutes drive and has a supermarket, hotel, bottle shop and other conveniences. We are open to accepting larger group bookings, but please discuss this with us first. Other things you can do in the area: - Driving trips to High Country Scenic Route and exploring the High Country (4-5 hour round trip).- Visit the Buchan Caves about an hour into the High Country - they are amazing.- Explore Cape Conran & you can even Dive for Abalone and Crayfish.- Visit Lakes Entrance and buy Seafood from the Trawlers.- Drive to Mt Hotham ski resort and explore the Omeo High Country (3 hours)- Visit Gordon at the Opal & Gemstone House in Orbost and find out about the gold, geology and gemstones of the area, hearing first-hand stories about how the area was many years ago from a great local old-timer who loves to share his knowledge and the old ways things were done.

We do recommend a 4WD as the ground in some areas is quite sandy but still accessible with 2wd. Access to the pristine Cabbage Tree ck for kayaking/canoeing or fishing is available. We have two sites for campers (for either tents and RVs) that are tucked into cleared bushland areas, with lovely bush views, and privacy for just your own group. You'll need to be fully independent, with your water and shower, and must take all waste when you depart. Campfires are permitted,(except on total fire bans) and there are two fire pits on site with swing over hot plates and pot/kettle chain. Firewood is available. We also welcome dogs! Please just ensure they are kept under control at all times as wild life can be present. We don't offer self-picking at our farm yet, however when the berries are in season (Jan - Feb), you are welcome to purchase punnets picked that day! Fresh blueberries for your campfire breakfast, yum! We look forward to welcoming you to Konda Blueberry farm; a wonderful, safe base camp to explore this lovely region.

We have 20 acres of lush river flats adjoining the pristine Brodribb River in the Goongerah Valley. Due to the pristine, clean water straight off the surrounding mountains and the rich fertile river flats, early settlers used this place as a market garden to supply fruit and vegetables to the local townsfolk. After our purchase in 2000, we turned it into a self-sufficient paradise, always welcoming visitors to come and enjoy the land with us. Our BYO campsites are near the river where you can reconnect with nature amongst the tall trees. Kanukadale is a working Nature Retreat Sanctuary, so additional to BYO campsites, we also offer our Bell Tents when the retreats are not running. Here at Kanukadale, you will share the space with very friendly horses, ponies, miniature goats and our donkey. The property is child friendly as the boundary, river and paddocks are well fenced. You can do as much or as little as you want during your stay. Be sure to check out our awesome animal focussed activities that we offer here. You can find them under Experiences. You are welcome to bring your own horses and dogs. Dogs must stay on a lead whilst on the property and responsible pet ownership is essential here, as is a respectful attitude towards all the other sentient beings on the property. We do not allow generators here. There is lots to do in the area with heaps of nature immersion. East Gippsland is one of the most bio-diverse areas on mainland Australia. You can explore rare, Old Growth forest, historic gold mines, climb to the peak of Mt Ellery and walk through the Errinundra Plateau. Mountain bike riding, horseriding, 4wd touring and bushwalking is awesome in this area. There is a camp kitchen with a communal fridge, microwave, stove and electricity. There is also a composting toilet and hot shower facilities. There is free wifi. THERE ARE NO SHOPS OR FUEL OR MOBILE RECEPTION. WIFI CALLING WORKS IF YOU HAVE THAT OPTION. THE CLOSEST TOWN IS 50 KM TO DELEGATE OR 70KM TO ORBOST. YOU NEED TO COME COMPLETELY PREPARED OR IT’S A LONG DRIVE TO TOWN. THERE IS A PUBLIC PHONE BOX UP THE ROAD.

The mighty Snowy River winds its way through forested cliffs and plunging gorges at Snowy River National Park, and the wild landscapes provide the perfect playground for outdoor adventures. Take to the water to white-water raft or canoe, follow thrilling 4WD tracks up to spectacular cliff-top lookouts, or go rock climbing, mountain biking, or horseback riding through rugged gorges and old-growth forests. Hikers have plenty of options, including the popular Silver Mine Walking Track, while campers can take their pick of seven bush campgrounds, some of which are suitable for caravans and motorhomes.

  • Best for families: Waratah Flat Camping Area is one of the few campgrounds with toilets, firepits, and picnic tables.
  • Best for paddlers: McKillops Bridge Campground lies along the Snowy River and has a canoe launch and swimming areas.
  • Best for escaping the crowds: Jackson Crossing Camping Area provides back-to-basics bush camping for tents and camper trailers.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Campsites at Snowy River National Park are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. Campsites can fill up fast during school holidays and on holiday weekends, so arrive early to secure a spot. 
  3. Dispersed camping is also allowed throughout the park, but campers must be self-sufficient and leave no trace. It’s forbidden to camp within 20 metres of a stream or river.

When to go

December and January are the most popular times for hiking, rafting, and other outdoor activities in the Snowy River National Park. Weather remains mild through spring and autumn, but come winter, high rainfall means that access to much of the park is by 4WD only, and some trails might be closed.

Know before you go

  • Snowy River National Park is 390 km northeast of Melbourne, along the Princes Highway. The park’s main roads and camping areas are accessible by 2WD, but many tracks 4WD-only. 
  • There are no admission or camping fees for Snowy River National Park.
  • Facilities are limited , so bring everything you need with you, including food, drinking water, and fuel. 
  • Pets are not permitted within the park. 
  • There are accessible picnic areas, restrooms, and campsites within the park.
