Welcome to Goonieland. We are an off-grid Permaculture farm perched on the edge of the Rocky Mountains. We are conveniently located between Yoho and Glacier National Parks, 20 minutes from Golden BC. The sauna campground is in a meadow above our farm with mountain views and creeks nearby.
The purpose of Goonieland is to learn, practice and teach permaculture, regenerative agriculture, and natural law, while moving towards sovereignty, intentional community, and ecosystem restoration.
We open our land to our fellow freedom fighters and folks walking the road toward a regenerative future and self-responsibility. We have two tenting sites, a glampervan, a glamping bell tents (on Airbnb), with a shared wood-fired sauna!
Sauna Under the Stars Campground: Old Man Site

Goonieland offers a unique camping experience with stunning mountain views and a peaceful, secluded atmosphere that's close to Golden. However, the site is not without its challenges. Many campers have highlighted the overwhelming presence of mosquitoes, which can hinder outdoor activities and relaxation. Additionally, some guests noted the initial impression upon arrival may feel cluttered due to machinery and construction elements, but the camping area itself provides a serene escape overall.
Overall a great experience, love the atmosphere, the van was really comfortable and well equipped, the sauna was super cool, although we didn’t end up using it, the outside shower system was a neat idea, will come back and definitely recommending.
More Hippy and Hip camp. Driving up towards camp was full of old machinery and looked like a dump site. When we got to our camp the mosquitoes were so bad we couldn't even get out the camper. To be fair it rained the whole day and night we were there also so probably not the best time to spend the night. Not what I expected I'm afraid.
The Goonieland camp is great and well thought out. I actually would love to leave a great review for this place, but I was awestruck by the sheer amount of bugs at this joint. 30 seconds after arriving I opened the car door to take a look at the info board to see a map of where our site was located and let 30-40 mosquitos into the campervan that we were sleeping in. Upon jumping back into the car and shutting the door, I felt a super painful sting in the middle of my back. A hornet got in and was on my seat. I jumped off the seat shrieking and the same hornet then stung my friend who was driving in her face. We were planning on cooking our food at camp, using the sauna, hanging hammocks and generally relaxing while here, but we ended up spending 100 percent of our time stuck in a small sized van. There was a great kitchen area and table where you can eat both enclosed in netting for the droves of mosquitos but with 7 or 8 groups vying for the same area we were never able to use it. Not goonieland's fault but with the bug problem and the wildfire smoke in the region during our whole stay I'd steer clear of booking this again. In fact the bugs alone were a nightmare and inescapable, they even prevented me from using the sauna which I was really looking forward to
Beautiful views wherever you look. A very nice location.
Friendly operators, and very generous and helpful.
