Off-grid pitches on an organic farm – with a sauna on site

Park Farm Campsite offers you a pitch in a field with countryside views not far from The Cotswolds. It’s part of an organic farm in the Wiltshire countryside and the camping is pretty organic too. It’s low key and close to nature with pitches, for tents and campervans, all grassy and off grid. The entertainment is campfires and starry skies and the facilities are eco friendly. But some optional extras are available to enhance your stay so it’s more back to nature than back to basics here. There’s an honesty shop with a few local goodies, freshly cooked pizzas can be delivered to your tent and there’s an on-site sauna with a cold plunge tub nearby. This is wild-ish camping with wild-ish luxury on offer as well.

On arrival, you see yourself in and are welcome to choose your pitch from the 20 or so spaces that are mown into the outskirts of the gently sloping field. Or, if you’ve chosen the site’s single furnished bell tent, follow the signs to find it. The bell tent comes with all the gear for your stay as part of the deal – and the generosity extends to camping pitches too. Each has a fire pit included. Bring your own logs or buy a campfire kit for a tenner. There are composting loos, hot water showers and an undercover washing-up space for all to share. The sauna is booked separately, ask host Zoe for details. She’s also the one to ask for local advice – though you’ll find lots of her tips in advance as she sends you a digital guidebook before you arrive.

There are walks from the farm into the surrounding Wiltshire Wildlife Trust-owned woods and meadows and plenty of suggestions for days out further afield. Lots of campers head for the nearby Cotswolds Water Park for adventure and to Malmesbury for a day in town. There’s history at the abbey there – and lots more of that at Avebury where neolithic people erected the largest stone circle in Britain. All this plus Highgrove, Tetbury and Westonbirt Arboretum are just some of the sights within a half hour drive of Park Farm.

We have a large open field, once you’re booked in you can turn up and pitch up! The field has marked pitches but you can choose where you pitch. The owners try to meet their campers at some point during their stay and are around to answer questions if needed. We have simple facilities of compost loos and gas showers. We have a small honesty shop selling local produce, eggs, apple juice and some other goodies . We sell ‘campfire kits’ for £10 which are sacks of Logs, kindling and newspaper. The site is gently sloping which areas of open flat ground some more sloping along hedge lines and under trees. We can accommodate groups of tents (not loud parties!) we have spectacular views and especially wonderful sunrises of you get up early enough!

We only stayed for one night, but we loved it, despite the thunderstorm! Zoe was really friendly and welcoming, views were beautiful and the facilities were great - basic but all we could need. The pizza was great too!!

Great camping experience!
Tent · With pets
We had a lovely time, it was well run but felt very relaxed at the same time. Pitches were well spaced out and the grass was cut regularly. Firepits were a great addition. Zoes pizzas were delicious. Some nice touches with the maps for walks and a good selection of items in the honesty shop. Hot showers and composting loos all worked well. We would definitely recommend adding this little site as a place to stay in Wiltshire. We will be back.

Brilliant campsite and sauna
Tent · With kids
What a great campsite! We only stayed one night on our way to catch a ferry from the South Coast but we're already planning on coming back for a longer stay. Excellent clean facilities and friendly hosts. So many special touches and attention to detail. I got to enjoy the fabulous sauna on site too! (extra fee but great value)

Wild Inspired, back to nature camping with a touch of luxury. The campsite is an 3 acre open field surrounded by trees looking out onto an awesome view. We are a working, organic dairy farm. The pitches are large, each with the option to have a campfire (we sell our own wood). We have recently installed some compost loos and some gas showers, we also have a covered washing up area. There are chickens that live next door to the campsite and we have a small honesty shop selling eggs, apple juice, local preserves and other goodies. There are some local woods and footpaths to enjoy walking locally. We have a village pub 3 miles away, just about walkable! We are located on the outskirts only the Cotswold so lots of lovely places to explore further afield.
Nearby attractions

You don’t have to go anywhere for a relaxing session in the sauna as Wiltshire Wild Sauna is the campsite’s sister business in a neighbouring field. Liaise with host Zoe directly to either join a communal session during your stay (from £15) or to book the whole thing for your group (from £75). There’s a wood-fired barrel sauna, a cold plunge bath tub and a refreshing outdoor shower – all with lovely views. Off site there’s more cold plunge fun over at the Cotswolds Water Park (six miles) where open water swimming, watersports and wildlife watching are all on offer. It’s not far from there to the Cotswolds Sculpture Park (also six miles from site) and Circencester (13 miles), known as the Capital of the Cotswolds, is 13 miles away. Another pretty Cotswolds town is Tetbury (12 miles) home to King Charles III. You can visit the Highgrove Estate and gardens nearby as well as Westonbirt National Arboretum. The riverside town of Malmesbury (nine miles) is home to a 12th century abbey and lots of independent shops and eateries. The Museum of the Great Western Railway in Swindon (10 miles) is a great place for train buffs. Avebury Henge and stone circles are 14 miles away and a fascinating place to visit.

Food and drink

There’s a little honesty shop on site which usually has the all-important marshmallows for sale as well as eggs and apple juice from the farm alongside jam and honey from other local producers. Host Zoe also offers pizzas delivered to your tent; but capacity is limited so do ask ahead especially on weekends. Off site, The Three Crowns in Brinkworth (three miles) is the closest place for a meal out. It’s walkable if you’re up for the six-mile round trip. Other recommended options require getting in the car. There’s good food for lunch or dinner at The Somerford Arms in Little Somerford (six miles) and great coffee, cake and light lunches at the lovely Dragonfly Cafe (seven miles) on a Wiltshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve where there are lovely walks too. For more than what’s on offer in the honesty shop, Sustain Farm Shop (three miles) has lots more local goodies (and a little cafe too) and there are lots of independent shops and supermarkets in Royal Wootton Bassett (five miles) or Malmesbury (nine miles).
