The campsite is well-equipped with great amenities, and we especially enjoyed the kayaks and the dam. However, the site allocation process could be improved with better transparency.
We booked a one-night stay midweek and were assigned a pitch by the host rather than choosing one ourselves. Initially, we were given Pitch 1, which was closest to the road, shared toilets, and three other pitches. Seeking more privacy, we asked for a different spot, and the host quickly moved us to Pitch 5. While communication was friendly and responsive, it lacked details about the pitches.
Upon arrival, we realised that only one of the six pitches was occupied, yet we were still placed in a less-than-ideal spot. Pitch 5 had no grass and wasn’t suitable for tents—likely better for a caravan. Unfortunately, it rained that night, and due to the terrain, our gear became extremely muddy—worse than we’ve ever experienced while camping in the rain.
A clearer pitch selection process with accurate descriptions and photos would greatly improve the experience. While we enjoyed the facilities, the campsite was not as quiet or remote as expected. Nearby houses and a puppy farm meant occasional barking dogs and distant music.
Overall, a well-planned campsite with good amenities, but better pitch information and selection options would make a big difference.
