Our 300-acre off-grid property backs onto the Barmah National Park. This forest, together with the adjoining Millewa forest, forms the largest River Red Gum forest in the world - it's majestic to explore. Our property is just 500 meters from the Murray River. From your camp, roughly a 1 kilometre walk through the forest. On our boundary is Backwater Creek, which fills with water when the Murray River is up.
NOTE: Creek is often dry. It has water in it after environmental flows of the Murray. This can happen several times a year and the water lasts a few months. If you have any questions about water levels please ask before booking as it might be dry when you're here.
We're located just 5kms northeast of Moama, where you can hop aboard a paddle-steamer, visit waterside wineries and soak up rich riverboat heritage.
We offer a few large, beautiful, basic bush camping sites (the best kind!) in amongst 50 acres of bushland, with 100's of meters and trees between you and other potential campers.
The rest of our property is used for cropping and sheep.
Campers must take out what you bring in.
Big Bama and No 3 - you'll need to be fully self contained. There is a dump point in Moama.
Toilets can be hired from Central Hire in Echuca. They can deliver it for you.
Mobile and internet is usually reliable, though with long weekends and summer school holidays the service seems to disappear!
*Please feel free to book anyone in your possie that is under 18 as a child.
Kerry and Ben's campsite offers a tranquil escape into nature, perfect for families and nature enthusiasts alike. Visitors consistently highlight the serene environment, ample shade, and well-maintained amenities like flushing toilets and showers. The campsite's proximity to Echuca and Moama provides convenience without sacrificing the peace and quiet of the bush. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, such as the outdoor showers and fire pits, which enhance the camping experience.
We had an amazing time at Kerry and Ben's camping spot. The place was so serene and private. It was lovely being away from the busy town but then a quick drive to get there if we needed anything. Lots of shade and so much space to set up camp and the kids to run around. The water tank pool was great to keep the kids cool and the outdoor shower great to rinse off. The shower and toilet were fantastic, made the trip just that much better. One of the best hipcamps we have stayed at.
I loved the peace and quiet at Tooranie.
The natural bush setting, with birds and the natural bushland of the Barmah State forest.
Kerry was very welcoming and an easy going person.
I opted for a tent with a double bed wich was very comfortable.
And very close to the town of Echuca and Moama.
i loved staying at big bama, this is perfect for anyone who doesnt have many camping materials as ben and kerry provided a toilet, both hot and cold showers which were so clean and well maintained, for anyone looking to stay camping this is your best choice, thanks guys :)
Fantastic spot near Echuca-Moama - 8 kms from Echuca centre.
We took e-bikes with us and rode to town a couple of times - some dirt road but mostly bitumen.
Also a 3km walk along the riverbed to get to the Murray is a pleasant 2 hour round trip
Toilet and shower on site (we stayed at #3) were rustic but excellent. Massive sites (like a couple of acres) in a bushland setting amongst the river redgums with plenty of privacy and a fire pit provided with running tap water (not drinking) near the fire.
Plenty of birdlife for twitchers and so.e kangaroos.
Kerry was super helpful and very accommodating. Would highly recommend.
We loved our stay here! Massive area, clean toilet and shower! Kerry and Ben were super lovely!
The space is perfect and shady for the hot days and big groups!
