WINDY BANKS Hidden away on the river, beyond the bush, you will find a very private secluded 7 acres which will give you the privacy and the interaction with nature you seek. Stunning sunsets over the river and the rustling of gum trees in the breeze will make you feel like you are the only one on earth. Birds will sing you a song as you cook up a meal over the fire. If your lucky you might even see the local dolphins have a play.Windy Banks is a little out of your way from your travels north or south, but well worth your while if you are seeking privacy and a typical Australian bush setting. The river gives you cooling breezes in the afternoon, and you will see plenty of wildlife. You will have your peace and quiet and are invited to stay short or longer term. As you are back to basics in the bush, it is best you bring your own water, provisions, toilet facilities and rubbish disposal. We would like you to leave nature untouched for the next guest to enjoy. There are allocated fire pits for each site with swing over BBQ plate, fire restrictions must be followed. The site overall is covered in typical Australian bush, which brings with it your usual Australian characters like goannas, echidnas, wallabies, kangaroos and you might even get a laugh out of the kookaburras and see the occasional wedge tailed eagle!

Lovely location but not private
19 ft travel trailer
We camped at Windy Banks over the Australia Day long weekend as a group of five. Since each site accommodates only four people, Mike, the owner, kindly offered to open the second site and assured us we’d have the entire 7-acre property to ourselves. However, an hour before arrival, we were informed that his friends would be staying in a shack on the property, though only at night. Upon arrival, we found that Site 2 was unusable because the shack was right next to it, with a gazebo, swag, and a washing line with vests and underwear hanging nearby. A generator ran 24/7, powering the shack and keeping bright patio lights on all night, forcing us to wear earplugs to sleep because of the generator noise. After we complained, the generator was turned off at 11 PM but restarted early each morning. While Mike was friendly and extremely helpful in providing fishing tips, the experience did not meet expectations. The listing does not disclose the shack’s presence or its constant generator use, if occupied, significantly affecting the stay.

Beautiful but noisy
19 ft travel trailer
The campsite is at a beautiful location overlooking the Branch river with relatively easy access to the water. The site is level and we had enough space for a tent and two campers. On the negative, the site is also near a couple of buildings on the property (approx. 100) which is powered by a loud generator. The first night the generator ran to the next morning, and despite complaints to the host, ran till 11:30pm on the last (Sunday) night.

Great little secluded spot by the water with an easy to access boat ramp 50m from the campsite. Great views and would recommend to anyone thinking of going camping!

13 ft travel trailer · With kids
We had a great time at Windy Banks. The stand out things for us were privacy, dog friendliness, river front, and ease of fishing. Our kids (10-12) had a great time, but I wouldn't recommend for young children due to the steep river bank. We definitely plan on visiting again.

Disappointed
20 ft Class B
Quite an average site - while the view is lovely, there isn’t too much more to it, and the sites are not fantastic. The site I was supposed to stay at had a washing line with some other peoples things there and quite a mess….. I feel the place was over priced and the images online don’t really display the actual setup etc
