The Marthaguy Campground on 'Yarralla' is located on the Newell Highway 5 km south of Gilgandra - The town of the Windmills. 55 km North of Dubbo with easy access to the Dubbo Western Plains Zoo and 80 km South of the Warrumbungle National Park. The campground is 800m off the Newell Highway tucked in on the Marthaguy Creek out of highway sight. Yarralla is a working mixed farming enterprise running sheep, cattle and cropping. The campground also overlooks a large dam with a Jetty. The campground offers a safe and secure location to camp away from town with a shelter shed with water over a sink and picnic table. Wood is available for a camp fire during winter months.Campsites are located adjacent to the Newell Highway and the Marthaguy Creek. Only 800 meters off the Newell Hwy 5 Kms south of the 'Town of the Windmills', GILGANDRA. Gilgandra is located on the junction of three main highways and we are on the doorstep of the Warrumbungle National Park. Campsites are on flat ground and cannot be seen from the Highway. They are a safe and secure option for the night (no need for caravanners to unhook) or use this as a base for your local exploring for a couple of days. You must be self sufficient as there are no amenities provided. There is a shelter shed with water over a sink and a table and chairs. Gilgandra is home to the start of the Cooee March and the history of this can be found at the Cooee Heritage and Information Centre. The Heritage Centre also offers push bike hire. Other local attractions include The Rural Museum, Cactus World, many lovely local shops and the Windmill Walk along the banks of the Castlereagh River. The local Speedway track is opposite the campground. You are welcome to light a campfire during the winter months and wood is supplied.

Perfect location & helpful hosts

Awesome stay and perfect location just off the highway. The hosts were friendly and helpful! The paddock and sunrise was beautiful with our swag under the tree next to the dam. Great signage too! Would highly recommend.

This is more than an overnight stop

Great spot, lovely welcoming hosts, Sally and Pete run a great show here. We are fortunate to live in a place where we thought we could see the stars from our backyard, however Sally & Pete's backyard is worth the drive, fantastic big sky country. We will stay again, Pete checks all is OK, was happy to chat, discuss and provide samples of his crops, and found a few fresh eggs. This is more than an overnight stop.... however given the location, TV, internet and phone reception it works well for that too. Thanks Sally & Pete, see you next time! Stephen & Family

Great little campsite. Easy to find and just far enough off the road to limit traffic noise while still being accessible.
