The property is 40 acres of carefully maintained virgin rainforest. Our flora and fauna are exactly the same as nearby Litchfield National Park, unfortunately without any waterfalls.
We have cleared about 10 acres of undergrowth leaving the trees for shade. Animals and other wildlife are abundant with the lilly pond on our front lawn being the only permanent water other than the Finniss River that they have in the area. We have hundreds of wallabies, goannas, frill necked lizards and plenty of bird life.
Our pet Red Tailed Black Cockatoo "Butt" attracts the local wild ones, because she is happy they trust us so you can get closer to them than usual for photos.
We have toilets and showers set up for our annual fishing competition which we hold for charity each Queens Birthday weekend. There is also a large wood fired BBQ in the same central area. The fish filleting table and boat cleaning area is also nearby. The local kites and other raptors including sea eagles and if you are lucky may see a wedgetailed eagle come in for fish scraps.
Croc and dingo area - be aware!
Jean & John's campsite offers a serene and spacious setting with lush greenery, abundant wildlife, and a peaceful atmosphere perfect for nature lovers. The hosts are known for their warm hospitality, often inviting guests to relax and chat on their terrace. While the amenities are simple, they are well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable stay. Whether you're looking to explore nearby attractions or enjoy quiet moments in nature, this site provides a welcoming base.
Jean & John’s camp was incredible! The greenest of green grass, lush shade amongst the trees and the wildlife held such a peaceful atmosphere! Willie (family of J&J) is such kind company! Plenty of amenities and drinkable water, would 100% recommend this camp for solo travelers and groups of 10 or more! Family friendly, wholesome vibes and outbush feels, while still conveniently close to society.
Thank you for having me, would love to stay again sometime!
This place was just heaven. Coming out of Litchfield we decided to stay at Jean & John's for a night before going to Dundee beach. The property was big and spacious with all the neccessities. There was also lots of birds and wallabies roaming around making the experience even more fun. Even though we booked in late our hosts made us feel very welcome.
Thank you Jean & John for having us! You guys are very lovely.
Love, Emma and Anton
We had a wonderful time at this camping site! The area is beautiful and well-maintained, offering a perfect escape into nature. The host was incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway
A visit to this Hipcamp will not disappoint you and is highly reecommended. We were only sorry to have to leave after spending 3 nights in this private and secluded destination.
A great location to base yourself, if you want to explore the surrounding attractions, and Jean is more than happy to advise you on what you can see and do, whilst you are in the area.
The caravan and camp sites are in lovely wooded areas and you get to pick your own site anywhere on the estate ,which is wonderful. We have a large caravan (21.5 ft long and 2.3 metres high), and were still able to navigate between the tress and bush on the land, to find our perfect private spot..
John and Jean are fantastic hosts and I do recommend the voluntary visit to their terrace, at their home in the afternoon, where you can chat in a relaxed atmosphere, and get to meet Butt, the pet red tailed black cockatoo!
Also the kids highlight was feeding the chickens and getting to see a few friendly wallabies on our walk around.
We will definitely be back for another weekend break.
Thank you John and Jean!
