The Perfect Weekend Spot!
We had the perfect weekend at the Chalet! We came very late in the season - end of November. Jake made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed! There is so much to explore on the property and the hiking trails are very well marked. The chalet was equipped with everything we could have needed. Can’t wait to come back!

Great time under the stars
We had a great time! The Chalet is beautiful, Jake has everything you need. The views are amazing, we had a fire every night, the sky was nothing but stars. We came across a deer on the way back from the river. We will definitely be back

Perfect 1st HipCamp Experience
As first-timers on HipCamp, we couldn’t have found a better spot—Jake’s place is perfect! We stayed for three nights and couldn’t find a single thing that wasn’t perfect. The views, privacy, peace of mind, comfort, and warmth were exactly what we were looking for. On the first day, Jake guided us to the chalet, gave us some of his home-grown garlic, and showed us around. After that, everything was pretty self-explanatory. Jake has a trail directly from the back of the chalet leading to a riverside, where you can try your hand at fishing and catching crawfish. Unfortunately, the water was too shallow for paddleboarding or canoeing. We didn’t have to worry about any wild animals, though we did spot a deer. There was no need to worry about mosquitoes, bees, or wasps either. Do bring your own sheets and wet wipes for convenience. The kitchen is well-equipped with pots, pans, salt, pepper, and bathroom essentials. Firewood and fire starters are also provided. Just bring your own food, and you’re all set! If you need anything else, there’s a Walmart just 20 minutes away. A big thank you to Jake for making our stay so comfortable and unforgettable!

With pets
My wife and I along with our dog had an amazing time on Jake's property! Only complaint is that we did not stay longer. The property is well equipped with everything you need for an ultra-relaxing off the grid getaway. Close proximity to several quaint small towns with breweries, farmers markets, restaurants and grocery stores. We took a day trip to the beaches on Lake Huron and got there is less than an hour. Our host Jake was super accommodating and greeted us upon arrival to give us a quick tour of the property and answer any questions we had about the chalet and surrounding areas. He was kind enough to share some of his garden vegetables with us and was very responsive to any requests we had. We enjoyed the fire pit each night and the walk to the river through the farmlands directly behind the chalet was beautiful. We are looking forward to booking again and would recommend Jake's place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway outside the city. Thanks again Jake for hosting us! Patrick, Melissa & Rolo

Comfort in Nature
With pets
This chalet and property is the perfect mixture of comfort and nature! It has all the amenities you need to make your stay as rustic or luxurious as you desire. Jake is an incredibly warm, responsive host who makes you feel right at home. The property and trails are very well manicured and well signed. The 'big sky' view is matched only by the rolling fields of wildflowers. The washroom and outdoor shower were clean (like, lovely!) and easy to use/maintain. This place is a gem, right down to the guest book. Couldn't have asked for a better stay!

Enjoy Serenity and Peace of Mind
Amazing time at Jake's chalet! If you're looking for peace and quiet look no further. It has all the off grid amenities you will need. Outhouse (with waste diverter), hot showers, electricity, cold fridge, camping stove (via propane; generator). Comfortable bed, cute design. Fire pit, trails down to the river, and just a nice getaway away from the hustle bustle. You may hear a tractor (neighbourhood farmer has to work his fields!), you will be bitten by bugs if you go outside (which is natural this time of year), but your trade off is pristine beauty, sights and sounds of nature and the company of your loved one(s) (if you don't go solo). Jake was great, checking in on us via text (yes you have service, but no WiFi) on day 2. Highly recommend this spot in May, but I'm sure you will get all sorts of amazing experiences staying in June July and August too soon 😊
