    Established in 1870 as a mixed farm for new immigrants to Canada to settle and begin their new life in Canada. In the early days the farm housed dairy cattle and pigs. Had pastures for cattle to graze and grew corn and wheat for cattle feed. In the 1980's the farm was rented by the University of Guelph to house their goat research livestock. Our family purchased the farm in 1998 to raise our daughters. The farm is located beside Trish's home farm, where she was a dairy farmers daughter growing up. Dean was raised on a beef farm. Dean & Trish meet in University studying agriculture. We began a beef business, and marketed our farm products through our website, www.whisperingmeadows.ca until we sold it to a young couple in 2016. Dean & I care about the land and the environment very much. Over the years we have have worked with the local conservation organization to plant treed wind erosion areas, improve farm drainage and grow crops using no-till practices. In 2010 we were awarded the Pasture Conservation Award by the Canadian Cattlemen Association. We take great pride in our farm and ensure it is managed using the best farm practices available. We grow a roation of corn, soybeans and winter wheat for food production. Ideal for a quiet getaway or short-term stay. High-speed fiber wi-fi is included allowing you to work away from the office.The Farm Shed is on our working 130-acre family farm. Once used for machinery storage, a farm mechanics workshop, pig pen, farm store, and office. Now a retreat for guests to enjoy a farm stay, and getaway. Our 'slice of country paradise' we like to share with others looking for some peace & quiet away from the hustle & bustle of a busy life. We ensure a very clean and comfortable stay. The main floor is accessible, with a studio-style queen bed area, sitting area, and full kitchen. The downstairs accommodates a second bedroom, with an antique double bed, laundry, full washroom, and lounge area. This is also the access to the backyard shed garden with a picnic table, fire pit, and chairs (loads of firewood available as well as skewers for roasting marshmallows). This space is a separate building from the main farmhouse & is exclusively yours to enjoy during your stay with private, keyless access. Located 10 mins south of Elora-Fergus, 5 mins north of Guelph, 20 mins east of KW & St Jacobs. Cox Creek Winery is just up the road. Several bike/hike trails nearby. Please remember that The Farm Shed is part of our home and working farm. We welcome guests that will respect our home & farm operation, and understand that we live and work on the property.     We stayed at the Farm Shed over the Thanksgiving weekend. We had an incredible time and the cabin is wonderful! Would recommend getting the Farm fresh eggs!

    New experience living in a barn!
    Group trip
    The place is absolutely amazing, the barn is clean, tidy and really comfortable. Really unique experience living in a farm. Trish always response promptly and provided us all the help we needed. Will 100% recommend to everyone.
