A little haven of warmth and relaxation.
Enjoy the serenity of waking up on our 90-acre farm in the Adelaide Hills. Piney Estate is a beautiful base camp from which to explore the Adelaide Hills, but you'll be just as inclined to relax on the property and enjoy peaceful country time. The location is ideal, being just 5mins from Nairne village (which has a great Foodland, butcher and bottle shop). Plus there are plenty of foodie and wine options to discover in the region. We offer different options, some sites have water and power , and others are more remote, fully self-sufficient spots. Many sites have a campfire space (not available during the summer fire ban months). Please note we are a farm, we have dogs who are free to roam. If you don't like dogs perhaps this isn't the experience for you.

Camping with a view!
Tent · Group trip ·
Loved camping at the Hay She’d, nice flat spot with plenty of cover, views of hthe hillside and beautiful trees surrounding. Plenty of cows mooing and birds chirping in the morning. Close by to toilet and pool/sauna. Will definitely be back!

An honest review from a family that love the outdoors, farm life and dogs! We planned this trip to cater for our dogs and introduce our newborn to camping! The views from the cattle yard are beautiful, unfortunately our stay was during a dry hot period so we did not get to enjoy green scenery, this of course no fault to the host. However unfortunately my family and I left the cattle yard camp very disappointed… Choosing this remote site due to our dogs being rescue dogs and not handling busy places well, We chose this campsite with them in mind. We camped inside the “fenced in” dog allowed area, which unfortunately wasn’t actually well fenced so dogs can go in and out. We kept complete control over our dogs and entertained them so they were happy to not attempt escaping. Not long into our stay, the owners dog came and joined us almost causing a dog fight. We spent the remainder of our stay having to have our dogs tied up and listening to them bark due to the owners dog not leaving us alone… We are a dog loving couple and absolutely love being around dogs, unfortunately this dog caused us a lot of discomfort and the host would not answer any messages to help… We also planned to use the pool ( as an add on cost to this site) and had absolutely no luck in contacting the host. We paid $60 to park alongside a dirt road and be put in an uncomfortable position with a strange dog, we had no contact with the host and didn’t get to enjoy any time with our unsettled scared dogs.

We initially booked due to there being minimal power sites available last minute, great and clear instructions provided and beautiful views which definitely was a plus. The electrical situation was a bit misleading as the connection type wasn’t really advertised, if you have 10A connection (like the property) you will be fine, however for 15A vans/trailers you won’t get power. The electrical point was also a far distance with obstacles inside the shed so we parked out the front, ensure you have an extension lead greater than 10m. Another sore point was nothing was clean, cow and dog poo pretty much all over, understand it is a working farm but if that area is for people to stay in it could be taken care of. The toilets which were a bit of a walk from the site located next to the pool were also in a very bad state, a multitude of bugs were in the toilets which flew around so much so I had to duck to use the toilet (moths, flies, mosquitos) and looked like it had not been cleaned in a month. The shower/kitchen area was extremely underwhelming, after we opened the door we were met with a stale stench inside, the shower also only provided cold water with short little bursts of hot for 10 seconds. No cleaning or preparation had been made for a camp site especially putting the price of $90, would not stay again and would not recommend at that price maybe $20.

Stunning Views!
Tent · With pets ·
Overall we had a lovely stay at Piney Ridge. The view from the Hay Shed is absolutely stunning of rolling green hills, reflective ponds and cute cows 🐄 Having use of the pool (and the sauna add-on) is a luxury you don't normally get camping and made for some fun and relaxation. The toilets are nicely decorated and clean. The kitchenette for washing up dishes makes clean up so easy. Having showers available was great for those who wanted to freshen up. The shelter of the Hay Shed is a big bonus for protection from the elements. The main reason for my "mixed feeling" review was the dogs. While they were friendly when with their owners, each of us experienced being barked at, snarled at and growled at- not only when attempting to enter the toilets (which are just off the main house), but also down at our campsite. Both dogs also snapped at our own dog when he went over to sniff them. Also, the Hay Shed is advertised as being empty- it's not, although we still had room to set up kitchen areas and our large group could all sit inside. There were a few other ups and downs, but I won't specify them since they seemed unique to the circumstances of the time we visited, not a general reflection of the campsite. All in all a nice experience, a few in our group said it was one of the best trips they had been on, and some said it was their favourite campsite so far.
