Camp Moondog is a 36-acre forested property hosting 3 campsites in beautiful Greenville, South Carolina. Flanked on either side by the Saluda River (almost half a mile of river frontage!), this property is a must-book for nature lovers visiting the area or Greenvillians just looking for a getaway for some woods and river merriment. This property is located right across the river, or a short 5-minute drive to Dolly Cooper State Park that draws in disc-golf enthusiasts and park explorers alike. Camp moondog is only a 10-minute drive from the world-renowned Downtown Greenville, a destination known for its excellent restaurants, festivals, shopping, and social scene. Being situated so close to the city-center means that food delivery is just a click away, and running out for that last-minute necessity is a breeze. This is a unique opportunity to get “off the grid” without having to make those ‘off the grid’ sacrifices. At Camp Moondog, our philosophy is to offer a carefree, clean, natural environment for a relaxing camping vacation experience. We will be happy to use our ATV's to assist with getting your supplies to any of the campsites--just shoot us a message on the app if you need help! Because there is always ample deadfall all over the property for firewood collection, pre-packaged firewood bundles are not supplied or available for sale. Please take this into consideration if there has been recent rainfall. We look forward to hosting you here at Camp Moondog. Happy Trails! ~Mike and Kelly

This campsite by the Saluda River is a serene spot perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle. Many campers praise the peacefulness and natural beauty, with highlights like riverside views and the chance to explore nearby woods. Mike, the host, is often mentioned for his helpfulness and friendly nature, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. However, some campers noted occasional noise from a nearby highway and limited amenities, which might require some planning ahead.

This place was great. The hosts were really nice and communicative. Highly highly recommend. Worth the money for privacy and a spot you’d have to hike to find, anywhere else.

Escape to Fern Gully
Tent · With pets ·
This was mine and my girlfriend’s first camping adventure and it definitely did not disappoint! Our little spot at Fern Gully couldn’t have been more ideal. The slope to the water is a bit steep (careful with pets) but we not only survived it, we enjoyed it! The view of the river and sound of nearby rapids were peaceful and the fireplace at night was comforting and much needed, so thankful for that. The hosts Kelly and Mike were both friendly and helpful. I’m so glad I chose this spot to have our first camping experience!

Camping on the Saluda River

Five stars~! This campsite was very beautiful and well kept, the view of the Saluda river is awesome. If you come during warm weather there's a little dock you can enter and emerge from the river. Mike came down on his ATV and helped get our fire started then chatted with us for awhile, he is a very interesting fellow. I highly recommend this stellar hip camp~!
