Semaphore Farm is a 400-acre property with convict history, bordering the Port
Artur historic site. It is a private timber reserve and a working forest farm. We have a combination of native eucalypt forest and plantation, and we grow hay and our own beef.
We have many walking and bike trails through 150 acres of forest and pasture accessible to campers.
The campsite has spring water on tap, a hot shower, toilet, rustic camp kitchen, wood stove, gas BBQ, level sites, and a campfire when permitted. Tent sites are flexible so you can choose your own space within a 2-hectare area, while Level pad sites are limited.
The Port Arthur Historic Site and a safe swimming beach are within walking distance and Safety Cove and Remarkable Cave are only a 5-minute drive away. Longer walks, including the Three Capes tracks, are easily accessible.
Launch your boat nearby to access good fishing or fish for squid off the Port Arthur jetty.
There is plenty of wildlife to see at night and birds during the day. You might even see our resident Wedgetail Eagle!
Dog-friendly (must be under control/on a lead/contained).
Semaphore Farm offers campers a spacious and peaceful environment, with lovely views and proximity to Port Arthur's historic site. The campsite is well-regarded for its clean and well-maintained amenities, including a hot shower and a camp kitchen. It's a dog-friendly spot, making it a great option for pet owners. While some visitors noted that the site could be pricey and challenging to navigate for larger rigs, overall, the experience is positive with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere.
Lovely camp, plenty of space and the facilities were great. The kitchen was fully equiped with utensils, pots, pants, etc. No electricity which was ok. The shower was spacious and worked perfectly.
Caretaker very helpfull and kind.
This was a great place to camp with a fantastic position. All the facilities I needed and more. I ended up staying 2 more nights than I originally planned and will stay there again if I am ever down Port Arthur.
Location to Port Aethur was fantastic.
The rustic camp kitchen was very user friendly. Great hot shower.
The long drop composting toilet was very welcome and it did not smell.
Plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy this lovely farm. My dog had a ball.
Marion is a marvellous host and thanks to her phone call got to see an aurora.
Would highly recommend ✨️
Right next door to Port Arthur Historal site. Dog friendly. Can have a fire if you wish. Host was fantastic shared the history of the farm and surrounds. Site Manager was really lovely person. Would stay again.
The site is in a fantastic location really close to the Port Arthur historic site, a stunning little beach and the Nubeenna shops for groceries etc.
The large rustic camp kitchen/shelter area would get alot of use in bad weather and the basic toilet and shower facilities make it accessible to campers who aren't self contained.
It's set on a rolling green hillside with a number of spacious level terraces carved into the hill to camp on. When it's quiet the spot is lovely but the terraces are quite close together so when the site reaches the advertised capacity (or more when we were there) it tends to squish people together a bit too closely. Despite the overall site being so large the slope of the hill doesn't allow people to realistically use much of the area other than the terraces to spread out.
All in all a great spot, and with the bonus of being dog friendly, but just be prepared to have neighbours.
This is a great spot to explore Port Arthur and surrounds. A
Little steepish but level pads and a lovely big grassed area at the bottom.
Amenities are good and clean.
Adriana is a lovely person who has great stories of her families beginnings and the history behind this property.
