Our farm is located in Carrajung Lower, Central Gippsland where is 2.5 hours drive from Melbourne. As the name reveals we live on a small ridge with at least 3 pairs of Kookaburras living around our house. With a 52 acre property we run miniature sheep to keep our land green and produce ethically raised 100% grass fed lamb. Each site has three levels. The top level is for vans and/or tents; the middle level is for tents only and the bottom level is the fire pit area. Surrounded by pine plantation and native trees, you can enjoy secluded time without neighbours except native animals and birds! Perfect for bushwalking or mountain biking. What you can do around here: 30 minutes drive to Tarra Bulga National Park, Woodside Beach and Maryvale Pines MTB track. 20 minutes to Yarram for shopping and awesome coffee, also popular for Heesco murals. Outdoor swimming pool is open in summer time where you can have a hot shower. 5 minutes to Carrajung Estate which has exceptional wine and incredible cuisine.

Kookaburra Ridge offers a serene camping experience with stunning views and plenty of space to spread out. Campers appreciate the well-maintained compost toilets, which are a welcome change from typical drop toilets. The hosts, Daniel and Risa, are noted for their friendliness and responsiveness, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. While the site is peaceful and private, some road noise is noticeable, but it doesn't overshadow the natural beauty and tranquility of the location.

I have mixed feelings about this campsite. The positives: Daniel came and greeted us soon after we arrived which was great and he also told us to drop by the house if we had any needs during our stay. That made me feel welcome. The views at the campsite were lovely, overlooking a dam and lots of trees and bird life. The compost toilet was in reasonable condition. Also as promised, we had our space from other campers on the farm. The not so positives: The campsite itself was not as well maintained as we would have expected. Firstly, I understand that it’s a sheep farm but when we arrived the majority of the 3 tiers of our campsite were covered in a large amount of sheep poo all over the place. My fellow campers were very unimpressed and I had to spend probably 20 minutes with a camp shovel cleaning the area before we could setup tents and other stuff . There was also very long grass between the tiers which got in our way a bit. We also found the remains of a portable old camp table lying in the grass. A bit of tending to the area before we arrived and none of that would have been an issue. It unfortunately gave the impression of lack of effort in maintenance. Road noise - although the campsite is isolated from others, it’s close enough to the highway that throughout the day you hear traffic on a regular basis. We were there on the long weekend so traffic was constant and so was the noise. If you want peace and serenity, you won’t get it at this campsite.

I would highly recommend this campsite. The views are magnificent. The campsite are clean. They have a compost toilet that don't smell unlike the drop toilet in other campsite. And the host are very accommodating, helpful and friendly.

We had a wonderful few days at Kookaburra Ridge. This was our second visit. The place is lovely and peaceful and we enjoy watching the sheep. Having the loo is a great bonus. Communication is very prompt with Daniel too.
