Nestled right beside the Murrundini River, all 3 campsites are beside the river, and well spaced apart for privacy and peace. Campsite 2 (site two) is shady,
surrounded by tall swamp gums, black wood wattles and tree ferns. This spot is at its best from late spring through to autumn .
Site One is a large flat area beside the river that is good all year round. It has fencing and gates, perfect to let dogs run free without going too far.
Site 3 (Craig's flat), is a large open campsite, able to take more camper-vans/ tents with plenty of space.
All sites have fire places and gas BBQ's (byo gas bottle) And there are plenty of fish for those that want to try their luck.
The original home stead (built in
1876) burnt down in the 2009 black Saturday fires. There still remains many 150+ year old elms and other European trees near the toilet block, which are
delightful in autumn.
We have some fantastic views from the hill up and down the Murundindi Valley, especially at sunset. We're located only a few short km's from Wilhelmina Falls and Murundindi Scenic Reserve, you get the best part of the river, without the crowds. We are a
short drive from Melbourne, and easy access to the townships of Yea and Yarra Glen for supplies if you need them. Amazing, abundant
and rare bird life to enjoy and photograph. (see guests photos).
With no light pollution this is the ideal spot for star gazing.
Camping at this site offers a mix of peaceful seclusion and natural beauty, with many campers appreciating the easy access to the river and ample space for groups or families. The host, Michael, is frequently praised for his helpfulness and friendly demeanor, which adds to the positive camping experience. While most visitors enjoy the privacy and tranquility, one camper did have an encounter with a Highland cow that disrupted their stay. Overall, the site is well-regarded for its scenic setting and accommodating host.
We absolutely loved camping on Michael’s land. Our pup had the best time of his life swimming in the stream and chasing magpies. It’s the perfect location for dog owners who don’t want to stress at all about their pups running off, but still want them to be completely free range. So relaxing. Great communication. Will absolutely return
We loved staying at the Fern Glade. Such a beautiful spot beside the river. There were 2 other sites on this property but all spaced a decent distance from each other to ensure privacy.
Michael was great with communication and ensured a great stay. Would definitely recommend
This was my first time trying out Hipcamp and could not be more than happy with our experience on Site 1 at Michael’s property.
We were greeted on first arrival and then left to be how ever we wished. Michael was kind and very helpful giving ideas on places to explore
The river was very calming, relaxing and just by our the campsite. This space has everything you need to be one with nature
This is a must try! And we of course will be back!
The site was great and the host brilliant! Unfortunately we had a random Highland cow trying to stay with us and couldn't move it on. We were not so concerned about it being unsafe more concerned it would tear our tent as it walked through camp or tried to eat something it shouldn't. Decided not to stay and left him to it. Host offered us a different site for a longer period but we had already moooooved on. Great place and Great host but just not with the extra companion.
