Welcome to our not-for-profit grounds, now open to the public. The camp has been set up as a youth-oriented facility that welcomes travellers and regional people. All proceeds go towards running costs and improving facilities. We have an onsite caretaker (LES) for maintaining the property. Dog friendly (must be controlled at all times!) and good access for caravans and all types of vehicles.A large flat grassed area for camping and 200m walk to The Boyne River at Pikes Crossing with access for swimming. There is an area to launch small boats and ideal for canoeing and kayaking in protected waters. Close to Lake Awoonga (4km drive) for fishing and all other aquatic activities along with a great barramundi stocked impoundment.There is a large undercover area with tables and chairs, flushing toilets and hot showers and designated campfire area. All campers have access to this. We also offer a commercial kitchen and BBQs for group bookings. We welcome community functions, weddings, birthday parties and youth groups. Inquiries welcome.

Agnes Water Base Camp is a dog-friendly retreat spread over 120 acres of beautiful bushland. The property offers a range of sites set within this scenic natural environment, with more sites continually being created as the regrowth is cleared. While the track around the property currently has some overhanging saplings, it's ideal for walking and exploring, unless you wish to risk scratching your vehicle. This area is a work in progress and is constantly improving. The highlight of the camp is the large, swimmable dam, perfect for a refreshing dip on a hot day. The property also boasts approximately 250 fruit trees and is home to Brahma chickens and roosters, adding to the rustic charm. There's a 3-kilometer walking trail for those who love to hike, and you'll find potable water and ample firewood available. Guests must be fully self contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste with them on departure. Sunsets at Agnes Water Base Camp are absolutely stunning, with panoramic views of the nearby mountain ranges. When night falls, the starry skies above are nothing short of magnificent, making it an ideal spot for witnessing astrological events reflected in the tranquil waters of the dam. This camp offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and rustic charm for your getaway.

From the Marina, you can depart to Lady Musgrave Island, enjoy 1 hr to full day tour on the iconic Larcs and enjoy  spectacular sunsets.The are some must-visit small businesses in the area including Rusty Pelican Fish and Chips, Pancake Creek Tours, Katrina's Bar (for sunset drinks) and Marina Cafe (for best coffee and vanilla slice).There are no facilities here, campers will need to be self contained and leave no trace. Council's dump point is just 5 minutes away.

Our quirky communal building has lots of power points, hot showers, flushing toilets, free Wifi, pool table, dining areas, fire place and we now have a pool-side cafe, boutique and massage on site. We are pet friendly, "ONLY ONE DOG PER SITE" and must remain on leads or runs whilst on the property. Please note that animals are not permitted in any of the undercover common areas or swimming pool enclosure. We are a short 2 minute drive to the new Agnes Central shopping center, 5 minutes to Agnes Water town centre and local beaches, and a 15 minute drive to the beautiful town of 1770. Our property runs on rain water and On-tap drinking water is available in the camp kitchen. If you are looking to escape from the crowded caravan parks, you will love our piece of paradise.

BB Inland Rail Trail - Boyne Valley

The Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail Incorporated is facilitating the development of the disused rail corridor from Taragoola (near Gladstone, Central Queensland), through the Boyne Valley, on to Monto, Eidsvold, Mundubbera and south through to Gayndah in the Burnett Valley. This property covers those campsites in or adjacent to the Boyne Valley. The corridor is an inland link between Gladstone and Gayndah, which has great natural scenery, wildlife and historical structures with small country towns spread along its length. There are several campsites (shown here on Hipcamps), on former railway sidings along the trail and a range of other accommodation types, some community NFP operated, which we encourage you to support. Casuarina Park is a 640 acre working property situated 10.3km off the Bruce Highway in Central Queensland between Gladstone and Rockhampton. Camping is a self-sufficient affair with 2 long drop toilets. For small groups of campers we have available a hot shower and septic toilets.There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen as well as a 7km walking/bicycle track available to stretch out weary muscles. For fishing/crabbing enthusiasts it is a 15km 4 wheel drive access to Sandfly boat ramp for fishing and crabbing or 26km for a 2 wheel drive and larger boat to Ramsey's boat ramp located at The Narrows. Excellent fishing!Campfires are permitted with wood included (when restrictions aren't in place). Dogs allowed and must be on leash at all times.SPECIAL EVENTS: During the weekends only of QLD school holidays, we are open for motorbike trail rides. You need to have an MQ license and be part of a motorcycle club (we have our insurance with Motorcycling Queensland). If unsure please ask. This means things are a bit noisier on the weekends of school holidays. :)

When to go

The best time to visit Wild Cattle Island National Park is during the cooler months from April to September, when the subtropical climate is more temperate. Avoid the peak heat of summer, especially from December to February, to ensure a comfortable and safe experience amid the park's natural beauty.

Know before you go

  • Be croc wise in croc country; sightings of estuarine crocodiles have occurred in Wild Cattle Creek and on Wild Cattle Beach.
  • Carry plenty of drinking water as no water is available on the park.
  • Prepare for emergencies; mobile phone coverage is unreliable—marine radios and satellite phones are recommended.
  • Domestic animals are not permitted within the park to protect the delicate ecosystem.
  • Check the Bureau of Meteorology for weather forecasts before your visit to stay informed about conditions.
