Our site is within 3 minutes of paddling the Big Creek, 3 to 10 minutes to several A+ hiking trails, 15 minutes to amazing freshwater beaches of Long Point and Turkey Point, and the area is abound with cycling trails, motorcycle routes, geocaching, boat launches (we have room here for your boat!), cider/wine tours, and more! We are the perfect basecamp for everything the Long Point Bay area has to offer
We have some great watering holes nearby like burning kiln winery, hounds of Erie and Charlotteville brewing company.

There is NO HUNTING permitted on the property. Please expect bugs, flies and mosquitoes. Deck is mostly enclosed to make star filled nights that much more enjoyable. There is also a sugar shack and garage on the property for viewing purposes only. There is an outdoor propane shower and a large cooler available for your convenience as well. Our remote off grid property in the forest east of Eagle Lake is a great place to disconnect and decompress. The roadside Bunkie sleeps 4 and can accommodate a RV trailer or tent as well. Pets are welcome.
The property has a pit toilet, and campfires are allowed in the designated pit. There is also potable water in the bin with an outdoor kitchen and BBQ area. In the winter water would have to be stored inside. Linen not provided.
You’ll wake up surrounded by trees and can explore the great hiking, nature viewing, atv trails and boating in the summer months. In the winter enjoy glaming in the propane heated bunkie, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snow machine trails at the door. Wildlife is all around. Several lakes and parks are nearby, including Mikisew Provincial Park on Eagle Lake, about 20 km south, where you can go boating, paddling, or swimming and Algonquin Provincial Park is close as well with many lakes and hiking trails. Some restaurants and stores can be found in the South River, about 20 km away.

Surrounded by deer, moose, bear, fox, raccoon, rabbit, to name a few, you are sure to see wildlife.
When booking with us you will have the ability to choose 1 of 6 campsites, where you will camp in mature forest, immersed in the beautiful vibrations and energy of the minerals that cover the land.
If you have children, they are welcome to play with all of our boys, on their trampoline and play equipment, and enjoy the animals that live on our property as well.
There are countless amazing local stores, and many natural attractions to visit nearby to rock hound, hike, swim, boat, and fish. There is also, an extensive trail systems to enjoy on your bikes, quads, and sleds close by.
We are very child and pet friendly as well! Being newer to hipcamp, our campsites are always evolving and improving. So if you have visited in the past and enjoyed your stay, you can be certain it will be even better this time around :)

Rent the Indoor loft space (zone 2), with 2x double air mattress, power, TV, fridge, dishes, outdoor hot-water sink, and laundry. Zone 5 is good for motorbikers and singles to park up close to the small area. Power up your Van or RV (zone 1) with outdoor plugs, and park on the newly created flat drive area. For the more athletic, hike up to the cleared forest floor in zone 10 or get really rustic, hike into the bush for some natural Forest camping (zone 10 - deep bush).
There are 27 acres of beautiful Muskoka bush for you to explore and enjoy. If you’re feeling adventurous you can hike around the surrounding forest; stay within the property boundaries and you will discover the hydro cut and its valley view, the ravine, the waterfall, and a footpath that leads to a bridge at the back of the lot. Or simply just relax and enjoy the soundings and view from the sitting rocks.
The public beach for swimming is a quick walk down Beach Road. It has a large dock, picnic tables, grassy area along with an portapotty. Or check out the sandbar and drop off at the boat launch at the end of the road. The lake has a diverse shoreline and perfect for small boats and kayaks. Enjoy beautiful sunsets overlooking the western end of the lake.

Chris's Place

Presently offering a tent camping site only, but working to bring you an off grid glamping experience soon in our 19th century former granary by our lake! Parking is at the campsite, following a 400m tractorway over grass. This tractorway enters and exits onto the county road independent of the host’s private home driveway.
Our small, bio-diverse farm is in a quiet location but only 10km from shops and cafes. Our property is run with minimal chemical inputs and a lot of hard manual labour producing hazelnuts and chestnuts, sometimes heartnuts and pecan, in our tree nut orchard, and alfalfa: grass hay. We also run a seasonal farm shop selling our produce and crafts. We are very lucky to have a 1.5 acre lake which you are welcome to explore by our canoe (canoe, two paddles and life preservers provided) supporting sun fish, bass and perch with midland and snapping turtles and thousands of tree frogs in the spring, and the occasional musk rat, beaver, woodland ducks, and heron. You may also see bobolinks, barn swallows, and bats in summer, ask to borrow our bat detector to listen to their chirps at dusk, or binoculars to watch wildlife. Check out our ancient Jesuit pear tree, 65’ tall, you may never see another as it is a very rare tree. We are on the migration routes of Tundra swans and Monarch butterflies. Star gazing is very good, there is very little light pollution. Tall poplar trees provide shade and shelter as well as pleasant sounds of the wind.
We provide free 5G drinking water per day, firewood (unless there is a ban), use of fridge/freezer, electric outlet for short term use eg charging a battery, all picked up or found at the farm shop (5 minute walk). We provide a rustic recycling station including kindling, matches, and we collect clean, washed recyclables, compostable veg scraps and paper and garbage after your stay. Please don’t bring your own firewood, even if you intend to burn it right away it can still import plant pests that may harm our crops, thank you.
Footwear is advised. Conditions underfoot are usually extremely good, soils are free-draining sand and gravels, but there is lakeshore mud and fluctuating water levels in our groundwater-fed lake. Our floating dock and deck may be slippery when wet. We do try to keep poison ivy in check but it does pop up here and there.
We experience a modified continental climate with the effect of the Great Lakes. Winters bring often fluctuating temperatures ranging between plus 10 degrees and minus 20 degrees. Winters are long, once the Great Lakes freeze they keep air temperatures quite low until late Spring; daffodils and tulips emerge and flower in May, by when snow flurries and frosty nights are usually over. June is usually pleasant t-shirt weather and hay-making month with little or no dew. You can expect hot, sultry, stormy days and nights in July, and some daytime temperatures in the low 30s Celsius before the humidity index which can push the experienced heat into the high 30s and keep night time temperatures in the upper teens to low 20s. July is the best month for spectacular thunderstorms and strong winds with risk of a tornado. August is appreciably cooler at night so much so that you may need a blanket or extra layer of clothing, and footwear to withstand heavy dew. September sees the beginning of crisp days and the turning of vivid fall colours of red, gold, pink, orange and yellow which develop even further into October. November is when the leaves are all falling or fallen, with relatively mild weather and frequent rainfall and snow flurries through to Christmas, with more snow in January and February. The typical snow season lasts from November until April, interspersed by rapid thaws and rainfall. Rarely does this create significant problems underfoot due to our soils being free-draining sands and gravel, but occasional localized flooding can occur in low-lying spots over icey ground.

Overview
Camping in Ontario is all about lakes and forests, with easy access to nature in the province’s national and provincial parks, wine-making regions, and lakeside cottage communities. Though home to Canada’s national capital, (Ottawa), its largest city (Toronto), and its most popular tourist attraction (Niagara Falls), Ontario’s location bordering four of the five Great Lakes means sandy beaches, thousands of islands, remote canoe routes, and miles of wooded trails to explore. The province’s peak outdoor season runs from May to October before the area settles into dramatic autumn foliage and snowy winters.
Georgian Bay
Two of Ontario’s national parks, Bruce Peninsula and Georgian Bay Islands, as well as the Fathom Five National Marine Conservation Area, are located along the Georgian Bay section of Lake Huron, northwest of Toronto. Other area highlights include Killarney and Killbear provincial parks, known for hiking and camping, and Manitoulin Island, the world’s largest freshwater island, where several indigenous communities welcome visitors interested in learning about their cultures.
Northwestern Ontario
This immense region follows the shores of Lake Superior and stretches north through the deep woods to Hudson Bay. From the gateway cities of Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, campers can explore remote Pukaskwa National Park, as well as Sleeping Giant and Lake Superior provincial parks along the shores of the largest Great Lake.
Eastern Ontario
East of Toronto and hugging Lake Ontario, Prince Edward County is popular among campers and glampers who love good food or want to laze on the beaches and sand dunes of Sandbanks Provincial Park. Continuing east along the St. Lawrence River (which divides Canada from the United States), you can paddle from island to island or set up camp in Thousand Islands National Park. Major cities in eastern Ontario are Ottawa, Canada’s national capital, and Kingston, where the Rideau Canal meets the St. Lawrence.
Southwestern Ontario
Ontario’s southwest corner borders both Lake Erie and Lake Huron, between Toronto and Detroit. You can visit Canada’s southernmost point in Point Pelee National Park and tour the small wineries that cluster around the towns of Kingsville and Leamington. The popular beaches and campsites of Pinery Provincial Park are along Lake Huron’s southern shore.
Central Ontario
Encompassing the city of Toronto, Rouge National Urban Park, the Niagara region, and the Muskoka Lakes—known as Ontario’s “cottage country”—Central Ontario also includes Algonquin Provincial Park, one of Ontario’s most popular canoe camping areas, and Bon Echo Provincial Park, where more than 250 indigenous pictographs are preserved on rocky cliffs.
