It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. We are 5 minutes to the quaint town of Norwood, and minutes to Hastings Trent River's fishing adventures! We are close to all the needed amenities. Heavens Acres has been a stop over since the 1850's for people travelling by horse from Toronto to Owen Sound. We have 100 acres surrounded by another 200 acres of conservation land. There is camping in the pine forest as well at the very back of the property where you will find a hardwood bush with trails. Please note that the hipcamp map shows a large body of water on the property, as does google driving maps. It is a marsh, not a lake. Google Earth shows it better. There is however, a creek and pond, but don't bring your boat. :) This is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" campsite, so please take all garbage when you leave.

The Pinecone

Come to the Pinecone to completely relax and disconnect (seriously you will because there is no cell service!). During Summer and much of Spring and Fall, you should be able to drive up to the cabin. Unless your vehicle has especially low clearance. The road/path out to the bunkie started as a well-made tractor path that has held up well over the years but has some rocks and bumps. Once through the gate it’s only a 1-minute drive to where you will park. This road may be a bit muddy! If you are looking for a Bunkie getaway, we would be happy to host you; please note the following: - If there has been a lot of snow the private road from the street to the Bunkie is not plowed. Depending on the type of vehicle you are driving, you may have to park at the gate entrance and walk in (4-5min walk) to get to the Bunkie. - There is a mini wood fireplace in the Bunkie for sleeping but depending on the temperature outside and/or the wind it still may be a little chilly. - There is lots of free wood available for an outside fire but we are sometimes low on small pieces to start fire or use for the mini fireplace. You can bring in your own extra kindling or bring own saw/axe to chop. - Bring your own extra blankets. DETAILS: Sleeping loft accessible by ladder comfortably sleeps 2. You'll have an outdoor fire pit, picnic table and 2 grills (we have lots of wood but you can bring your own charcoal for cooking). Enjoy watching the starts at night by the fire and visits from the abundant wildlife. There is 1 queen size bed in the loft for sleeping which is accessible by ladder. You will melt into the pillow-top mattress, luscious linens and don’t want to wake up heavenly pillows. Our well-appointed shared bathroom features a refreshing shower with both warm and cold water, ensuring you feel rejuvenated after a day of adventure. With running water readily available, you'll have everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Plus, our convenient tap located at the side of the washroom is easily accessible for all guests. There is a small table for 2 inside the bunkie or you can prep food and eat outside on the picnic table. A small fridge cooler is available to store any perishable food you may have. Bring your own ice. The bunkie has solar lighting for the evenings. If you don’t want to find your own firewood in the forest you can pick it up from locals on your way in for $5/bundle (see stands at the end of driveways). It is a big chunk of land but you can't really get 'lost' on it for any significant period of time. We are bounded by roads so eventually you will find your way. But, if you aren't experienced in the woods you may want to keep your wandering short, to start, as you get familiar with the land. Dog friendly!! Dragonfly Ridge is a 98 acre farm. Our pretty cabins are perfect for folks to enjoy some glamping in the country, on the farm surrounded by friendly animals. We are confident you won't want to leave the farm, but in case you choose to explore beyond our 98 acres there is lots to still see and do within only a short drive. We are located close to Buckhorn, where you can explore more lakes, pick your own berries or visit pumpkin patches, pick up groceries or enjoy the restaurants in Buckhorn. Also, in nearby Bobcaygeon you can find world-class shopping and dining, parks, beaches, festivals, a heritage village, and even more lakes. One hour north of us is Haliburton, with the Haliburton Forest and Wolf visitation Centre, Sir Sam's ski resort, shops and restaurants, and Sir Sandford Fleming's college of Fine Arts. Lakefield is only 35 minutes away offering shopping, a world famous literary festival, fine dining, and antique shows most weekends. Trent University is only 40 minutes south, in Peterborough where you can watch Peterborough Petes play hockey, attend free music festivals in the summer months, experience the best restaurants around, shop, see a movie, watch the boats in the Lift Locks, a World Heritage, visit the canoe museum, skate on the canal, and much more.

Glamping by Sandy Lake

This unique space is steps up from camping. It is located on 32 acres of land with so much to explore and see. What used to be a sheep farm about a century ago is now a hobby farm with plenty of forested area and hiking trails to explore. The large glamping tent has a double futon bed and bunk bed. An indoor fire place, as well as a basic kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is a porch and outside area with your own fire pit to enjoy and relax (fire wood included). - Like all camping, everything that is brought in must leave with the guest (there is no garbage disposal and for extensive stays we can provide a pass to the local dump) - There is no cleaning provided between guests (no cleaning charge applied), for this reason we ask that you leave the tent in great shape for the next guests arriving. Failure to do so will result in additional fees. - Dogs are welcomed and we can even provide a dog bed on request, but we ask that you pick up after your dog and keep the dog off the beds. If there are other guests in the main cottage exploring the grounds; we just ask that you have a dog leash handy. - You must bring all the essentials, including your cookware and cooking utensils (given the lack of running water) - Guest must bring their own linens/sleeping bags. Pillows and extra blankets are provided. - Guests are encouraged to bring plenty of drinking water, wipes, paper towels, toilet paper and etc. - Buckhorn which is about a 5 min drive away has all the essentials, including a Foodland supermarket, convenience store, LCBO, a few restaurants including take out pizza. - The odd time, the guests may encounter the host and family on the grounds doing maintenance.

There is however, a creek and pond, but don't bring your boat. :) This is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" campsite, so please take all garbage when you leave.

Book a visit to sit in our traditional Mongolian Yurt. Eat in our authentic Finnish cookhouse, swim, in the 18' deep pond. Explore the honey bees in their natural habitat. Visit our chickens and rabbits, skate in the winter. Welcome to Anastasia’s Domain! We live off grid, our farm is biodynamic and biodiverse. Our small cabins are 200 sq’ on 2 levels, the loft has a queen bed and the main floor has a futon. Our Treehouse cabin is 400 SQ' and can sleep 9. The toilet has its own door with a composting modern toilet. We provide natural water in a pump dispenser and a small fridge. All is solar power. There’s a barbecue. The cookhouse is 200’ away and sits 10. Come enjoy the 50 km’s of trails in beautiful, historic, Alexandria. Experience living in a self sustaining way! This is a cabin experience, come prepared for an exciting time! For your enjoyment, we have 2 e-bikes available for 20$ per hour, snow shoes $10 hr. We also have fresh organic farm foods for sale as well as our own organic honey... We are pleased to offer a pool and shower availability at the beautiful Georgian House Day Spa & Restaurant. 5 minute drive the usage is $25 per hour per person and includes towels & bathrobe. Bathing suit is required. Spa treatments and eating can be reserved with them.
