Come and enjoy a traditional/rustic camping experience on the mighty Ottawa river. Be sure to bring your water shoes and a canoe or kayak, or you may rent one of ours. C-O-G is located on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, east of the bridge that passes over from Hawkesbury, Ontario. This beautiful (mostly) deciduous forest (situated on both sides of the 344/Rte Des Outaouais), has been in the family for generations. The 59 acre property (50 acres on land, ~9 acres of river/water) features scenic views, privacy and is host to many outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking and more, with many other outdoor tourism attractions (white water rafting (Rouge River ~15kms away), Parc Omega (zoo)) located nearby. By paddle boat, canoe, or other similar shallow depth water craft, one can head upriver, around an island, and loop back through the remaining historic canal. ...It's a historic lazy river! Many amenities are only 1-3km away, such as a gas station (with fast charging and an M&M Meats section), an IGA grocery store and several restaurants including, McDonalds, Tim Hortons. You will also find some of the best poutine around, for a traditional poutine, try Jos Patate (they've been there for many decades now) and for a wild variety of poutine, head to La Fromagerie ...want ice cream, La Crémière is in the same building. A little History... Our property has played host to a portion of the rich history of this area which included three railway tracks, a canal and a lock. The railway beds remain and the lock has simply been flooded over. Following the war of 1812, three Ottawa river canal systems were constructed between 1819 and 1833 to bypass the Long Sault Rapids on the Ottawa river. These canals were in use until 1961 when a large portion of the canal system was submerged due to the construction of a hydro-electric dam (~22kms downriver) at Carillion. As a result, the river level at our property rose high enough to submerge the top of the lock walls by ~3.5 feet. This submerged lock is located a few hundred feet offshore and can be seen using Google Earth as it measures 50' x 300' in size. Once you have a good idea where it is, throw on your water shoes and a life jacket and enjoy an interesting experience of walking on the walls of a submerged lock.

Situé sur un vaste domaine de 275 acres, le refuge du Lièvre Rouge est un site où il est possible de séjourner en micro chalet opérant en autonomie, dans une yourte, ou plutôt en tente sur un de nos sites aménagé à cet effet. Le site de camping du Lac Amik, est situé à 25 minutes de l'accueil est est seulement accessible à pied. Lorsque vous réserver votre site, nous nous assurons de vous préparer une quantité suffisante de bois pour vos feux de camp (lorsqu'il n'y a aucune restriction), et nous vous livrons de l'eau potable (1 bouteille de 18 litres). Il est également possible de louer un ensemble complet de camping pour votre séjour au Lièvre Rouge. L'utilisation des embarcations est incluse au séjour ainsi que l'accès au quai ainsi que nos embarcations qui se trouvent sur le Lac Manseau.

We live in our eco-friendly straw bale house on the property, and the forest behind can welcome you. We've prepared a flat space for setting up a tent in the heart of the forest with a view of the lake; you'll be very secluded! Access to an outdoor compost toilet is available at all times. Access to the wild lake out back with canoes on-site. Access to the fire pit. Access to numerous hiking trails nearby. If money is an issue, we can work out help in the garden or elsewhere in exchange for your campsite. Looking forward to meeting you!

(Un escalier en colimaçon robuste vous emmènera à 28 pieds jusqu'à votre observatoire privé). Dispose également de 2 terrasses pour apprécier le lever et le coucher du soleil, tout en étant immergé dans la forêt. 1 acre, nouvelle construction de la maison. Je suis entrain de finaliser mon cabanon et je vais débuter le grand jardin potager en forêt, tout un défis! La zénitude est la meilleure activité sur mon terrain et le calme et+ la paix intérieure. L'ensemble du lieu est naturel et organique, Un charme fou. J'offre l'espace pour camper ou installer sa Vanlife! Je n'offre pas l'intérieur de la maison sauf pour la toilette ou la douche, de temps en temps. Personnes autonomes uniquement avec leur cuisine portative pourront s'installer et stationner dans mon très grand stationnement. Vous avez aussi accès à mon petit lac.
