A quirky garden cabin for two in Wiltshire

If you’re looking for a bolthole from which to explore Wiltshire, Crown Cabin may just be the place for you. This glamping cabin is tucked behind its owners’ home in the village of North Bradley. It puts you in an excellent spot, a couple of miles outside Trowbridge, equidistant between some of the area’s top attractions. Longleat Safari Park, Lacock Abbey and the elegant city of Bath are all within half an hour’s drive. Avebury, Stonehenge and Salisbury are not much further.

Busy days out exploring will be complemented by peaceful evenings in this hideaway cabin. It has a private outdoor space with a gate through to a lovely paddock where Shetland ponies graze alongside your host’s friendly horse. It’s a lovely spot for a summer barbecue or a sundowner. And if the sun isn’t shining, that’s no matter as this bolthole is built for all weathers. It’s well insulated and has WiFi and a Smart TV. In fact, it has practically everything you need for a couple of nights away. Notably, that includes a lovely en suite bathroom but not a proper kitchen. There’s a kettle, microwave and fridge so hot drinks and snacks are taken care of and the barbecue outside means fair-weather dining is easy too. But for a warming winter meal, head out instead. And why wouldn’t you? You’re on holiday after all.

There’s a pub that does food at the end of the road and another a bracing walk across fields away. Plus, despite the rural scenery you’ll enjoy here, you’re so close to town that takeaways are always an option. This is high-end glamping on a friendly and domestic scale and if you and if you want tips on where to eat or where to visit on days out, host Gina is never far away.

Crown Cabin is a purpose designed single storey cabin with bespoke en-suite and kitchenette. Private sundeck for relaxing and al fresco dining with BBQ. Set in private gardens bordering our smallholding where you will be able to enjoy, should you wish, our horses at pasture, Labradoodle, chickens and working bee hives. Immediate access to a bridle path which leads to open fields with wildlife hotspots. WiFi, parking, kingsize bed, smart TV, microwave, fridge, tea, coffee & milk provided. Crown Cabin is a charming and quirky space for you to relax and enjoy with a sense of being in the countryside, surrounded by nature and close to beautiful places of interest including World Heritage sites such as Bath, Stonehenge, Avebury and many National Trust sites. Not forgetting a day out to Longleat Safari Park, Stourhead, Devizes, Bradford-on-Avon, Biddestone, Lacock, Castle Combe, Corsham and Frome all within an hour's drive.

Exceptional cabin, beautifully decorated with all the luxuries like steaming hot shower (cute bathroom) and hair dryer. Loved the chrome furnishings and trendy pipe fitting fixtures for lights and shelves (matching light switches too!). Very private and secure but with the most wonderful hosts that were so sweet and informative. Short drive from tons of touristy things, and a short walk from the local pub for an authentic well experience. Wish we could move in!

Crown Cabin Wiltshire is situated in North Bradley, just over 10 miles from Lacock Abbey, Longleat Safari Park and Bath. It has a sun terrace, barbecue facilities, free WiFi and free private parking. The kitchenette provides guests with a microwave and a fridge – and towels and bed linen are provided too.

Nearby attractions

Crown Cabin is in the village of North Bradley on the edge of Wiltshire’s country town, Trowbridge. You can walk into town from the cabin or hop out the back way for a countryside walk across fields. There’s plenty of good walking nearby with Clanger Woods (two miles) a nice destination for a woodland walk and the Westbury White Horse and Bratton Camp a good place to head for to see great views and archaeology. The cabin is equidistant from National Trust property Lacock Abbey and Longleat Safari Park (both around 11 miles away). The city of Bath is only a mile further with its Roman baths, Jane Austen connections and elegant Georgian architecture. Avebury Henge is 20 miles away and Stonehenge is 26 miles away. More recent history can be explored at English Heritage’s Farleigh and Hungerford Castle (five miles). Trowbridge is the closest town and within walking distance from site (two miles to the centre) but a more attractive town to visit is Frome in Somerset which is only nine miles away.

Food and drink

There’s a pub at the end of the road, The Rising Sun, just a short walk away which serves good-value pub grub, handy for a meal out in the evening. During the day, you might prefer the country walk to The Farmhouse Inn in Southwick. It’s about two miles from Crown Cabin. Trowbridge offers takeaways, eateries and shops nearby as well.
