Est. 1966, the West Fork Sports Club has been a special place for multiple generations of both local community members and people from across the country. Nestled in between two valleys with 3,500 feet of stream front property on the West Fork of the Kickapoo, we truly have one of the most unique campgrounds you'll ever visit. Having avoided glacial drift during the last ice age, the Driftless area boast beautiful valleys, bluffs and rolling hills that you won't find anywhere well in Wisconsin. We are an Environmental Conservation Club always accepting new members. A temporary membership is included in camping fees and goes toward environmental conservation work and maintaining grounds, free wifi, etc. Our 20 acre property boast 3,500 feet of stream-front class 1 trout fishing on the West Fork of the Kickapoo (a top 100 trout stream in the US). Our entire stretch of stream is fully improved and excellent to fish. We have a healthy native brown trout population. We work with a local school science program to raise and stock brook trout every year. We have resident Sandhill Cranes, Bald Eagles, Oriels, Willow Fly Catchers, Hummingbirds and many other avian species. Nestled between two valleys, we frequently have stunning sunsets. We are far enough way from light pollution to easily see the Milky Way Galaxy on a clear night. The star gazing is amazing and if you keep your eyes up at night, you're pretty much guaranteed to see a shooting star, if not multiple. The West Fork Sport Club is truly a special campground. We're a short 15 minute drive from Viroqua which has a lot of great local shops, the Driftless Café (Owned and operated by Wisconsin Foodie host Luke Zahm) and a fantastic farmer's market. We're 25 minutes from Wild Cat Mountain which has extensive hiking trails. There are also two great vineyards within 15 minutes. Even on a rainy day, you will have plenty of fun options. ***Electric sites are not reservable through HipCamp.Choose from 19 dispersed campsites spread across 19 acres of land. Dispersed camping means you can pick whatever site you would like as long as it's unoccupied. Just look for a fire ring and picnic table and if there is zero sign of someone camping there, it can be yours! (electrical sites are excluded and are not reservable through HipCamp). Modern Bathrooms w/ coin operated showers, free Wi-Fi. Up to three tents and six people per site (or one pop up and two tents). More than three tents and six people in your group? Reserve an additional site. With dispersed camping, it's usually pretty easy to find two sites next to each other. All campsites are on level mowed grass and the ground is easy to stake your tents into. Driftless area of Wisconsin was missed by five glaciers during multiple ice ages resulting in the Ocooch mountains being formed. Boasting over 300 trout streams with 40,000 acres of access to water, we're located almost in the dead center of it. Our campground has stream front property on over 1/2 mile of the West Fork of the Kickapoo River, most of which is improved and all is easily accessible. It's really great water to fish for people of all skill levels. A temporary private membership is granted for your stay but we encourage you to sign up for our annual membership ($30). It allows you to return at a lesser cost the remainder of the year and helps the club with conservation work to improve the resources and educate youth on the outdoors. Enjoy the Driftless Area!

Firewood bundlegood

$21.00

$21 for a fill-your-own wheelbarrow full of firewood. Please fill the wheelbarrow full to level with the brim, it's OK if it's slightly over. Just please don't stack as much wood as humanly possible in the wheelbarrow. Firewood is mostly red oak, cherry and some hickory. I recommend bringing an axe for splitting as some pieces are flat cutoffs. They are easy to split. Wood is located in the woodshed across the club house. There are also firewood locations on the north and south end that are covered with tarps. If you need additional firewood, you can pay with paypal, venmo, or cash at the green pay station in front of the club house. Most people go through about one wheelbarrow a night if you're having a solid fire for 4-6 hours. A wheel barrow full of wood is about 6-7 bundles of wood a the gas station so this is a MUCH better deal. Gas station firewood is usually pine which burns about twice as fast as oak.

Great sites not much privacy

Great sites but tight than expected, 2 separate areas but have no line of sight blocking. Good new.is we went it only had ~5 campers and we all spaced ourselves out. Shower and bath house are super nice. Potable water is tasty and portable potties are super clean.

A campsite right next to a trout stream...uh YES! Spacious sites to choose from and it was a great night for our stay. Fished in the morning and caught several brown trout.

In a van down by the river

Decided to stay here based on reviews. Was not disappointed. Nice quiet location just minutes from the cute town of Visqua. We were there on a blustery Sunday night. Just a handful of other campers, but all campsites are dispersed. The river is very nice and there is a nice walking path along. We decided to stay in campsite #3 as seemed a little more protected from the wind than the other sites on the opposite side. Bought a wheelbarrow of wood and had a wonderful evening by the fire despite intermittent rain. Would absolutely stay here again. There is a great co-op grocery in Visqua for provisions and a nice coffee shop on the way out of town, wonder state, with hearty breakfast sandwiches.
