Urban Regenerative Gardens

3 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents2 acres · Sherbrooke, QC
This rare urban site acknowledges our Abenaki heritage, who camped and lived along these shores for centuries. Our beautiful urban location near highway 410 and Bishop's University, directly on St. Francis river, makes it an exceptional starting point for cyclists who want to enjoy the Route Verte path; fish, canoe, kayak or tube the river or simply explore all Sherbrooke has to offer.  Our birdlife is amazing and is a recognized birding location by provincial authorities, especially for swallows and chimney swifts. A fire pit will be made available, in respect of all fire bans, with firewood available for purchase. In 1910, Agriculture Canada set up a research centre that operated until the 1950's. The property was sold to a family that emigrated to Canada from Europe, to set begin a new life post WW2. In 2015, I purchased the property to return it to its roots - regenerative farming, training, hospitality, poverty relief and healthy living. Be our guest at The Farmhouse, a vibrant small-scale farm with a heart for the earth and its people. (https://www.thefarmhouse.store) Seasonal, fresh farm produce will be available for purchase as well as guided garden tours.   Located within 5 minute walking distance to Lennoxville (Bishop's University).  It's perfect for campers who like to experience "urban" camping. Some road noise. If you are concerned about the weather, the site provides the use of a 8 sleeper tent trailer for your convenience. During the day, you are welcome to relax in it too. Portable water will be provided, but bring your own drinks if possible. As a bonus treat, you are welcome to sleep in a very HIP camper, a 1980 retro dodge camper van. Bilingual service. Prestation bilingue.

The best camping near Frontenac National Park guide

Overview

About

Frontenac National Park, in the Eastern Townships region of Quebec, is known for hiking and biking, plus lots of water fun. But even more than that is the draw of the area’s plentiful wildlife viewing opportunities. Keep your eye out for white-tail deer bounding across the hills, otters playing in the water, and great blue herons keeping a watchful eye over everything. Camping is available on the three loops of the Saint-Daniel sector, and about an hour’s drive away in the Southern sector.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for paddlers: The odd-numbered sites in the Baie aux Rats-Musqués have direct lake access.
  • Best for rustic campers: The Lac-Egan primitive campground gives campers abundant privacy.
  • Best for stargazers: The Baie Savage campground in the Southern sector is within a Dark Sky Preserve.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Reserve your campsite online from the Sépaq website. Reservations open in mid-November for the summer of each following year.
  2. Create your online account in advance to make the reservation process move as quickly as possible.
  3. A 2-night minimum applies for advance reservations. One-night stays can be booked up to 72 hours before arrival.

When to go

Camping is only available at Frontenac National Park from mid-May until mid-October. It is busiest during the summer months of July and August, when the weather is warmest. If you’re looking for a quieter time, consider spring and fall, although be prepared for the sometimes rainy or chilly weather of the shoulder seasons.

Know before you go

  • Be warned, there is another park in Ontario also called Frontenac Provincial Park. Double-check you have your intended location before making a reservation!
  • It’s called a national park, but Frontenac is administered by Sépaq, a Quebec provincial body. As such, Parks Canada passes won’t work here. A separate service fee applies for park entry, which can be purchased as an annual pass or daily. The daily admission can only be purchased up to 30 days in advance.
  • If you are camping and cycling, both sectors have dedicated sites for you that don’t have to be reserved in advance. Just register when you arrive.
