The Loft Glamping & Camping

12 units · Motorhomes, Tents5 acres · Kinloss, Scotland
The Loft Glamping & Camping is situated at East Grange Farm, Kinloss, Moray. It 's a working farm that has evolved over the years to include Wigwam Glamping and Camping for campervans, motorhomes and tents. A number of the old farm buildings are also perfectly appointed as venue spaces for Weddings, Events and Workshops. The "wilderness" campsite offers pitches suitable for tents and small campervans whilst the Stackyard area is suitable for motorhomes and mega tents. All motorhome pitches have electrical hook-up and we have a good number of electric tent pitches. Unfortunately we do not take bookings for caravans. Onsite, we also have Original Wigwam cabins which are wooden camping cabins (Pods) that offer all year round protection against the elements. With heating, electricity, fridge, kettle and toasters. For those wanting a bit more luxury there are also ensuite Wigwam Cabins onsite with wood fired hot tubs. We welcome families, groups, well behaved dogs and do allow campfires outside the wigwams and at pitches and can provide fire hubs on the campsite (this must be pre-arranged). The Loft Glamping & Camping looks forward to welcoming you throughout the year!

The Fauld Farm on the Isle of Mull

1 unit · Motorhome, Tent50 acres · Tobermory, Scotland
The Fauld is a small hill farm located close to Tobermory in the north-east of the stunning Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. In total, the land comprises around 150 acres - although most of this area tends to be grazed by our Highland ponies and Shetland/Cheviot sheep. In spring and summer, there are wild flowers and birds galore, and bracing fresh air is on tap all year round - as are the spectacular coastal views from the top of the hills. The farm lies within walking distance of the iconic and colourful fishing port of Tobermory, which offers a range of shops, cafes and pubs - as well as being home to the Tobermory Distillery at Ledaig. If you have a car, we can offer off-road parking for a couple of vehicles, and we also have parking space for two campervans (though we do not have water or electricity connections yet). PS: You are advised to come equipped for camping in wet conditions whatever the season - although we promise that the weather can be lovely too! We look forward to welcoming responsible, country-loving campers to The Fauld :-)

Highland & Transylvania Glamp. Pod

2 units · Glamping1 acre · Roy Bridge, Scotland
Glamping pods in a large garden alongside the river Roy A 10-minute drive from Loch Lochy and 20 minutes from Fort William Seating in the garden and kitchen and ensuites provided Right on the side of the river Roy, the Highland and Transylvania Glamping Pods is a properly cosy base in the Scottish Highlands. The large garden has a terrace, river views and a seating area, but perhaps the best bit is that it’s located a short drive from lochs, glens, rivers and long-distance trails. What might you get up to? Climbing, hill walking, mountain biking and water-based sports are all on the agenda in this area, but especially in Fort William (20 minutes’ drive) and Lochaber, which have been ascribed as a capital for outdoor adventures. Scotland’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, is also 20 minutes’ drive away. Even closer is Loch Lochy (10 minutes’ drive), which has access to part of the 79-mile Great Glen Way (around 10 minutes’ drive). From Fort William, start off on another long-distance trail, the West Highland Way, which stretches for 96 miles across the banks of Loch Lomond and ends in Milngavie. The pods here have been named after the places where the owners spent their childhood and continue to live. Feel free to stop off while travelling to or from the Isle of Skye (two hours and 10 minutes) or stay for a good while… Fort William’s centre has a splendid selection of pubs, restaurants, shops and a bus and rail station. Plus, there are lots of links courses for golfers a day trip away, like the Royal Dornoch (two hours and 25 minutes). Both pods have a small double bed (a bit narrower than a standard double) with all bed linen provided. The kitchen areas are equipped with a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster (crockery, cutlery and towels are handily provided). To keep things nice and tasty, the pods are also well insulated. The patio doors and the rear opening window are both double glazed and there are electric radiators to inject some extra heat into the kitchen and living area.

Campsites near Drumnadrochit guide

Overview

The Highland village of Drumnadrochit is a hotbed of tourist activities. Lying on the west shore of the legendary Loch Ness, the village pulls in a huge number of visitors in search of its infamous monster. Beyond Nessie-hunting, outdoor adventurers will find plenty to do, from exploring the romantic ruin of the lochside Urquhart Castle and sailing on the loch, to mountain biking along rugged trails and embarking on the 78-mile (125-kilometer) Great Glen Way. Overnight options in and around the village include cozy glamping pods and well-equipped caravan parks.

Where to go

Loch Ness

Loch Ness Bay Camping is located on a working farm, a 15-minute walk from the western shores of Loch Ness and surrounded by scenic beauty. The site covers a grassy field close to an indoor riding school, and has spacious hardstanding pitches, with or without electric hook ups. The farm also has two self-catering cottages for rent. A few minutes inland, Loch Ness Glamping has options ranging from glamping pods to a farmhouse apartment.

Bearnock

Around a 10-minute drive west of Drumnadrochit, the Bearnock Country Centre has pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes in its tranquil, shaded campsite on the edge of the River Enrick. The site is the ideal location for exploring the area by foot or bike and also has a selection of wood ‘hobbit houses’ for a glamping experience.

Abriachan

High above the western shore of Loch Ness, and a 10-minute drive north of Drumnadrochit, the village of Abriachan is home to the 1,324-acre (536-hectare) Abriachan Forest, around which there are a number of paths and mountain bike trails— the Great Glen Way long-distance path also passes through. Set in woodland, Camping Pod Heaven offers a range of glamping pods with easy access to mountain biking, canoeing and hiking.

When to go

For optimum weather and long daylight hours, the best time to visit Drumnadrochit and the surrounding area is from May through August. However, this is the busiest season, especially during school summer holidays. Although the weather will be cooler, you can avoid the biggest crowds by visiting in April or September instead. If you plan to visit outside of the spring/summer months, it’s a good idea to check that sites are open.

Know before you go

  • Wild camping is legal in Scotland as long as you follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
  • Biting midges are a common nuisance during the summer in the Scottish Highlands. Don’t forget to pack repellant and long sleeves.
  • Local buses connect Drumnadrochit with Inverness, from where you can take trains and buses to Aberdeen, Edinburgh and beyond.
  • There are some small stores in Drumnadrochit but Inverness is your best bet for stocking up on supplies.
