Secluded yurts in a Somerset orchard

Yurt glamping site, Blossom Orchard, sits in the very middle of Somerset. Find it on an OS map and you’ll see it sits very close to a place called Paradise. Just off Paradise Lane. Seriously. But it’s not just geographically that the place is heavenly. Blossom Orchard is home to two yurts, set among 300 apple trees and surrounded by wildflower meadows. It’s calm, it's tranquil, and it's home to friendly Hosts who've built each yurt like a boutique hotel room. For the grown-up glamper, it's a paradise indeed.

Each yurt is well dressed and simply but stylishly furnished for two guests. There’s a king-size bed with quality linen, comfy seats, and, crucially, a log burner to keep things cosy on cooler days. Tea and coffee-making facilities are provided inside your tent—along with a few marshmallows to toast on your fire pit outside. It’s a two-minute walk to the facilities, which are housed in a little stone barn. There are flushing loos and a surprisingly luxurious shower, as well as a farmhouse-style kitchen with an oven, fridge, kettle, and toaster. Whitewashed walls, a butler sink, a dining table, and sofa make it as homely as it is functional.

Blossom Orchard sits within the Somerset Levels, where the lie of the land is flat, marshy, and perfect for easy walking and cycling among the wildlife this landscape supports. The banks of the River Parrett, which flows through the nearby town of Langport, are a particularly lovely place to explore on foot or by bike. And you can even take to the water. A paddleboard is the vessel of choice round here. Bring your own or hire one to gently make your way along this meandering waterway. The Avalon Marshes and Glastonbury with its Tor and bohemian high street are both about a 25-minute drive. The Somerset coast at Burnham-on-sea is 35 minutes’ away.

Barn Owl Yurt
Luxurious little haven
Peaceful spot in an old orchard. Leanne and Matt have made some luxurious choices in the yurts and the communal areas - I felt quite spoiled. They were kind and available hosts but kept out of the way so I could enjoy unplugging for the weekend with doggo. Would happily stay here again - thank you 😊

From the host
Set amongst a 10 acre small holding, in the heart of Somerset, this beautiful orchard retreat is a family run business. Our luxury yurts are privately positioned in the beautiful orchard with over 300 native Apple trees. Surrounded by wild flower meadows, Alpaca paddocks and chickens free ranging, this truly is a magical place. We have a communal kitchen, dining and lounging area with wood burner separate from the Yurts, with bbq and outdoor seating. We have a shared toilet and shower room about a 2 min walk from the Yurts. The yurts are equipped with bedding, towels, robes, cooking appliances for use on the outside firepit only and a wood burner. We provide a basket of logs, after this bags of logs can be purchased from the HQ. Dogs are allowed however we request a £10/night additional charge. Dogs must be well behaved and kept off furniture. Owners must clear up after their animal. The outside seating areas have lovely views and are very peaceful.
Nearby attractions

Blossom Orchard at Lower Bays is situated just outside the Somerset town of Langport, an ancient market town on the River Parrett in the middle of the Somerset Levels. It’s a pretty place which is worth a look around with eateries and shops. You can also launch paddleboards and kayaks on to the river from here. There’s more fun on the water on the north Somerset coast, which you can reach in just over half an hour in the car. Burnham-on-Sea is the closest place to visit, a seaside resort with a long sandy beach, a pier and gardens. The south coast is not much further (about 35 miles) but takes longer to drive (about an hour). Lyme Regis on the Dorset coast is the closest spot and well worth a visit  – for its fossil-strewn beaches, cobbled streets and historic harbour arm. Closer to Blossom Orchard, Avalon Marshes RSPB Reserve and Glastonbury are both within half an hour’s drive.

Food and drink

There are several pubs within a five-minute drive including The Rose and Crown in Huish Episcopi which is famous as a pub with no bar. It hosts visiting food trucks some evenings when the kitchen is not open. The Black Swan in Langport is about the same distance and offers a traditional menu of good pub food – including recommended Sunday roasts . The Halfway House in Pitney is a tiny bit further, just two miles away. It’s a traditional Somerset inn with a fireplace which offers food and a selection of real ales and Somerset ciders seven days a week. If you want to pick up supplies to cook for yourself, there’s a Tesco supermarket a very short drive away with more shops and cafes in the centre of Langport too.
