Bell tent glamping on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, with views of the Black Mountains across the valley.

Grove Farm provides a secluded bell tent glamping spot in the Monnow Valley, just east of Brecon Beacons, with footpaths leading directly into the Black Mountains. This pop-up site is an ideal spot for ramblers, hikers, and cyclists looking to explore the Welsh border, while also providing a laid-back location for those who want to go camping but with none of the fuss, thanks to its private amenities and simple-but-well-equipped glamping accommodation.

Despite there being just three bell tents on the farm, they're spread across some nine acres of fields, guaranteeing real respite from modern life. That’s exactly why former city-dwellers Emily and Dan moved here too, so they understand the need to retain the peaceful, secluded nature of the place. The bell tents have exactly what you need – along with some things you don’t but will greatly appreciate anyway – so expect a good night’s sleep on high-quality bedding followed by an afternoon nap in the hammock next to your tent. A fire pit and gas burner are provided for cooking up a storm, while each tent has access to its own portable-style loo and a hot shower in the bespoke, freestanding shower trailer.

You’ll be spoiled for choice with walks, whether it’s the trek to the foot of the towering Black Mountains, the famous long-distance footpath of Offa’s Dyke, or the brief stroll to the local Herefordshire pub the Carpenters Arms. The mountain of Skirrid presents magnificent views in every direction for hikers who wish to traverse it, while there’s even an opportunity for those in the mood for a wild swim; the beauty spot of Keeper’s Pond is a short drive away, a natural infinity pool that’s every bit as peaceful as that sounds. Not that you need travel far. Sometimes a few hours lolling around your tent is just what's required. And the sunset over the Black Mountains is well worth sticking around for.

Wonderful glamping site
We had an amazing stay at Grove Farm Glamping. Emily was really lovely, very communicative and helpful and the site is just perfect with everything you could possibly want for a stress-free stay. The location is great. We didn't get a chance to try out the local pub, but it was in walking distance. Not far from Abergavenny for groceries, etc. We will definitely return if Emily will have us!

On a slant
The setting was lovely but it was annoying to have to park away from the tent and carry all out bags, there were no wheelbarrows, across a field downhill to the tent. The tent was on a slant under overhead power cables. The grass was long as were the nettles and thorns. I would have been worried had I bought my kids. The toilets were across back by the car park as were the showers. You are allocated your own facilities. When we booked I was happy that all cooking facilities were supplied so didn’t bring any of my own. The cooking facilities are a one hob camping stove which took ages to cook anything. Plastic knives and forks and plastic utensils which would melt by the fire. None of the cooking implements would be able to be used on the fire. All cups/ plates are plastic. If you book bring your own supply’s are we were very underwhelmed by the cooking supplies. We had a mattress on the floor and two single futon beds with very thin mattresses. The floor mattress has no base and is obviously on the slant so you feel like you’re falling out of the bed. It was also very uncomfortable and I woke with a very sore back. We left after one night and conveyed why to the owner who said she has never had a complaint before. Fair enough. They did have hot water bottles in the tent but there was constant wind due to no shelter and being on a hill. It was very cold and hard to light the fire. Some logs are provided by bring a log splitter as they were too big to light.

Beautiful spot for our anniversary!
Many extra touches, neat as a pin, and such kind and helpful hosts -- so special to feel like the whole valley view was ours ... and star gazing from the hammock, too! There is a little slope to walk up but not too challenging.

First holiday with our GSD.
The views were stunning! The tent was lovely and the beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of room in the tent for 2 adults, our GSD and his gigantic crate. Its so good to have separate facilities for each tent, a toilet and a shower. The cooking equipment all worked well for us. We didn't need to use any of the extras we brought with us. We were glad we stayed here.

Beautiful and comfortable stay!
Emily and Dan have dedicated a great deal of thought and time in creating this wonderful glamping experience at Grove Farm. A warm welcome awaits and very comfortable and spacious tents amidst ancient oak trees provides the perfect site looking out across this beautiful part of countryside to the Black Mountains. All amenities, including a fire pit, are provided and many extra touches make this a memorable experience. Relaxing in the hammock and enjoying a pint at the local pub help too! Thanks Emily and Dan we shall return!

Now in its second year, our small pop up glampsite is back for summer 2023. We have 3 bell tents, each one with its own fire pit, hammock and outdoor seating.
