A pebble’s throw from a beautiful lake, this is a campsite with traditional and luxury accommodation, plus bundles of outdoor activities, and all just a leisurely stroll from one of England’s prettiest cities – what more could you want?
Whitlingham Broad Campsite is a family-orientated place in a county with no shortage of magnificent spots to pitch. Situated on the spacious 80-acre Country Park, this is both a useful gateway to the Broads, and a perfect base for exploring the medieval delights of Norfolk’s county capital.
The spacious grass pitches are spread over the upper and lower fields, with a magnificent play area built on the slope in between. You can park up tent-side in the lower field while the upper is a car-free haven meaning there’s plenty of room for a run and a play (pooches are welcome too). There’s also a couple of fully furnished bell tents, a yurt, a shepherd’s huts and a converted railway waggon, plus brand new, luxury tree-house-like structures nestled against the trees, with views over the country park towards the Great Broad.
The lure of the Broads is inescapable in this part of the world. With scores of visitors flocking to enjoy the wet and wild delights of Norfolk’s many navigable rivers and waterways, Whitlingham Broad is ideally situated to join in the fun. The park’s award-winning Outdoor Education Centre provides a host of activities including kayaking, sailing and windsurfing. And if you’d rather keep your feet strictly on terra firma there are countless scenic walks and bike rides to enjoy. Why not nip in to Norwich for the day to walk the café-dotted lanes and visit its grand Gothic cathedral?
