Breaks Fold Farm provides camping on a traditional working farm within Yorkshire’s peaceful Washburn Valley, on the fringe of the Yorkshire Dales and in the heart of Nidderdale. You can choose your own spacious pitch here in a field enveloped by towering pine trees, providing a perfect base from which to explore the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are good views, ample footpaths, modern facilities and campfires and pets are allowed. It kinda ticks all the boxes, right?
Walkers and cyclists, in particular, will love it here. The site sits on the edge of the Thruscross Reservoir, the highest of four in Washburn, making it a much quieter option for explorers. A footpath runs around it, providing stunning views across the water and surrounding moorland. You can easily join the Six Dales Trail from the campsite, following the River Washburn south, or head to nearby Brimham for rock climbing and mountain biking routes.
Less than 10 minutes' drive west of Breaks Fold Farm, you also find yourself in the Yorkshire Dales, its famous three peaks – Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough, and Whernside – likely beckoning. You’re also roughly equidistant from Harrogate and Skipton, for more idle days mooching in shops and cafés and generally taking in the atmosphere of the historic market towns.
The facilities at the campsite are a cut above – all modern and well-maintained. There are wet-room-style showers and proper flushing loos and a good, practical amount of space. Firepits are available to hire and barbecues (off the ground) are allowed. It’s all very laid-back. With days spent exploring Yorkshire's most beautiful scenery and evenings stargazing beneath its unpolluted skies, Breaks Fold Farm is as easy-going a camping holiday as you're likely to find.
If you are looking for a totally non-commercial experience, then Breaks Fold Farm is the perfect choice for you. The camping field is set over a 3 acre field, surrounding by woodland, just a 2 minute walk down to Thruscross Reservoir.
