Great weekend
Great spacious field, plenty of space so we weren’t too close to other campers. Amazing toilet and shower facilities and highly recommend The Royal Standard pub. Lovely outdoor area and fantastic food. Only downside was the really long grass everywhere at the site!

We stayed in our camper van for one night at penn meadow and we had a lovely stay. The campsite had a really nice vibe and lovely views. Basic facilities but what you would expect from a campsite with a more wild feel. It was nice to be able to have a campfire and great that there was firewood that campers can help themselves to. Would definitely camp here again.

Foundation for something special
The camp itself was lovely. Great location out of the city but close enough that you're back in the home comforts within an hour or two. A couple things that I felt my group (of 6) agreed on which could make the site something really special is as follows - the renovations are gorgeous and quaint, with the shower toilet combo. However, there aren't nearly enough for the capacity of the site. The camp was probably half full when we visited and there was a queue each and every time someone needed the loo because the few other campers that were there, took 20 mins to wash. 3 wasn't sufficient in our eyes. This ties in to the portaloos as backups. They looked like they havent been cleaned or serviced for a considerable amount of time. They could also be put elsewhere as they look rank plonked where they were, so close to the cute wash point and kitchen area (kitchen could do with matches, gascooker is supplied with no spark and the lighter was long empty
) Final other point - if a weekend with many bookings is approaching, it couldn't hurt to maybe strip back the thistles and nettles etc, give the place a once over where it's very wild. they were in abundance. So many of course were stumbled upon when dark and it made picking a pitch spot harder. All in all, the camp is really lovely, conveniently located and has stunning views. With a bit of TLC and perhaps some more amenities, this has anything you'll ever want or need for a solo, family or big group camping trip. 4* !

It was the first time I camped with my son and we had an amazing time. Loved the alpacas roaming around the field. A few more toilets would help but the ones available are modern and quite clean for a campsite.

Great new toilets and showers! local dogs were allowed to come and eat your food so watch out for that! ;)

We loved camping at Frankie’s place - the views across the field, the friendly dogs, the herd of alpacas roaming freely! We went on a Sunday evening to celebrate my partner’s birthday and virtually had the place to ourselves which was lovely. We loved that you could light a fire and there was lots of wood around to use for it. One of our criteria with camping is having a pub close by and this one did not disappoint! The oldest pub, The Royal Standard Of England was amazing and only a 5 mins walk away from the site! Great style bathrooms with proper toilets and showers. We’ve already talked about coming back with friends and family.
Thanks Frankie!
