Bell tents and an accessible cabin, with activities right from your door

The glamping site at Brightwell Country Park is surrounded by things to do; there’s fishing right outside, country walks in every direction, and mountain bike trails in the surrounding trees. Yes, this is the famously flatlands of Suffolk. And, yes, you read that correctly. This site is within one of the only MTB parks in the East of England. And it's home to a handful of glamping options, including a fully accessible cabin, which makes the idyllic riverside meadow welcoming to all.

Alongside the cabin, there are four bell tents, each kitted out for three or four people with made-up beds. They each sit on their own level deck, with seating and a fire pit outside and a camping stove for cooking on. Other facilities are shared in a timber cabin in the meadow. There’s a communal kitchen, a couple of bathrooms, and an accessible wetroom. It all makes for an easy way to stay in the outdoors; camping without having to bring the tent or much else at all.

That’ll leave more room in the car for the fun stuff: your fishing gear if you want to try your luck in the two stocked ponds on site (one has an accessible fishing jetty) and your bikes. Though if you don’t want to bring those either, both can be hired on site. Day tickets for fishing or Twisted Oaks MTB Park, in which the site sits, are available to book in advance. There’s secure storage on site for your bike and the blue, red and black trails are only a pedal away. For days out further afield, the Suffolk coast at Felixstowe is about seven miles away as is the lovely market town of Woodbridge and Ipswich is not much further.

We offer glamping experience in the beautiful Suffolk countryside for all ages and abilities. The glamping yurts are located within the Twisted Oakes Mountain bike park that offer day passes for those wanting to ride. There is also fishing and nature walks on site, as well as a cafe and shop.

Glamping at Twisted Oaks.
With kids
The cabin was much bigger than expected. Lots of lovely bedding was provided with super comfortable beds. The shower area was one of the cleanest I've seen on a camp site. The gas stove worked really well and a small canister was provided, there were also some communal utensils (something we forgot!). The hot water bottles in the cabin were a lovely touch. We are looking forward to returning here.

beautiful cabins in nature
With kids
Beautiful cabins tucked away within the twisted oaks bike park surrounded by nature. The cabins were so peaceful, well equipped with a lovely shared cabin with kitchen facilities, toilets and showers. James was a very helpful host and made us feel very welcome. There are some beautiful walks, axe throwing, archery and the option to go and hire bikes from the bike park.

Amazing hospitality
The guy that runs this place is a legend. Hipcamp took the booking but never shared it with the owner, so we turned up a there was no where for us to camp. Jamie then proceeded to clear out one of the older cabins that catered for 2 people , ( there were 4 of us) and said we were welcome to stay there and or use the facilities for as long as we wanted to. He also refunded our money , he gave us Everything we nedeed for tea coffees showers bbq etc and really look after us, we stayed for the day and enjoyed ourselves until late evening. It wasn’t his fault he didn’t get the booking confirmation but boy did he go above an beyond. In todays world I’ve not experienced customer service like this , couldn’t be more grateful an we will return.

Camping in the nature
Group trip
We were 2 couples of friends and decided to do a last minute weekend away. We were so lucky to find James' camping site. We truly loved it. The place is immersed in the nature, you feel like you are in a different world. We would definitely return.

A beautiful overnight stay ✨️
With kids
As soon as we arrived we were absolutely amazed by the beautiful setting and location of the glamping site. We had the site to ourselfs for the night which was an extra special bonus. The glamping tent was so pretty and very big inside which was especially important as my son uses an electric wheelchair, the whole site was really accessible for him and he could access everywhere. The fire pit was an excellent feature and my children loved toasting marshmallows and having hot chocolate before bed. We loved everything about the site and we are already looking at coming back next May for a longer stay. Thankyou for an amazing first glamping experience.

The Glamping cabins come with a comfy double bed and 2 single beds as standard. We ask Glampers to bring their own bedding or they can opt for a fully furnished option. They are built on wooden decks that also provide enough hard standing for alfresco dining areas and relaxing on hot summer days and evenings. The cabins are made up with all the bedding and equipment needed for a comfortable stay. We also have a great BBQ area for camp cooking. The site also boasts a custom-made log cabin that’s home to the kitchen, toilet, and shower facilities. Each cubicle has its own shower, sink and toilet. The toilet block also offers a wet room for glampers with additional needs. During the day glampers can purchase tickets to the on-site activities that include, biking on the twisted oaks bike park and trails or brilliant fishing on the two well stocked ponds on site. Equipment is also available to hire for both these activities. If these activities don’t appeal glampers can enjoy the surrounding beautiful countryside and indigenous wildlife via the accessible track that runs around the site. There are also a variety of other walks available close to the site. There are two local pubs that are in walking distance that serve a wide arrange of beers and have excellent menus. The park is situated equal distant between Felixstowe, Woodbridge, Ipswich and Newbourne . These are all a short drive away and offer many shops, pubs and restaurants to choose from if people want to explore the local area. Each cabin is equipped with tea making and basic cooking facilities – a fire pit and gas bbs are also available to hire.
Nearby attractions

Brightwell Country Park glamping is within the 57-acre Twisted Oaks Bike Park which takes advantage of the Brightwell Valley’s ups and downs for the blue, red and black trails and training areas it provides. Day tickets can be bought in advance if you want to ride the trails. There are two ponds on site too which you are welcome to fish (day tickets available at extra cost). You can hire rods on site and bikes can be hired in from Dialled Cycle Works Ltd if you don’t want to bring your own. Beyond the site boundaries, there’s pleasant walking in the surrounding countryside. You could take yourself off to walk by either of the nearby rivers; The Orwell or the Debden which reach the sea either side of seaside Felixstowe which itself is seven miles from site.

Food and drink

Twisted Spokes is a food trailer offering burgers and bacon sandwiches within the bike park on weekends and from Wednesday to Saturdays during school holidays, just right for fuelling up if you’re biking. For more than that, you could walk or cycle to one of the two nearby pubs in the two nearby villages. There’s The Shannon in Bucklesham and The Fox Inn at Newbourne, both do food and both get the thumbs up from James and Jamie, your hosts at Brightwell Country Park. If you want to cater for yourself, there’s a Tesco supermarket less than three miles away, with all you’ll need to stock up.
