A five-minute drive from the beach at Crackington Haven, and 15 minutes from Bude and Boscastle is where you’ll find Tamarisk Holiday Cabins. These simple dog-friendly boltholes are situated on a community farm in an excellent location just three miles inland of Cornwall’s north coast. It’s a peaceful place to stay that feels off the beaten track but is still within easy reach of the sights. In fact, you can walk to the beach in about an hour from here. And after days in the surf, on the sands or hiking in the hills, the cabins are a great base to return to. Salty skin can be refreshed in the en suite shower, muscles can be soothed in the hot tub and dinner can be eaten al fresco on the deck – all before a good night’s sleep in your comfortable cabin bed.
This is glamping that’s as close to a holiday cottage as it gets. All the elements of a self-catering stay are included, albeit in pint-sized proportions. Kerensa Cabin in particular is a bijou place to stay and designed just for two – though your dog is welcome as well. And while it’s rather quasint it’s not without mod cons. This hand-built cabin has electricity and running water, WiFi and even a Smart TV. The kitchenette offers a kettle, toaster, fridge and hob.
Trelay Farm, where Kerensa and the other cabins (bookable elsewhere) are based, is a 32-acre community farm that’s home to several families living as sustainably and harmoniously as they can. Your stay here contributes to that. It’s a 15-minute walk away from the nearest pub and shop and in a location with plenty of North Cornish hotspots nearby. In addition to the surf of Bude and the harbour village of Boscastle, there’s Tintagel, Port Isaac and Bodmin Moor all within half an hour’s drive.
Kerensa cabin is our little shephards hut style cabin for 2. With a comfy double cabin bed, smart tv, wifi, a little kitchnette area and small shower room and toilet. It also has a private Oforu style wood fired hot tub, with added jets for extra luxury.
