All are welcome at The Slips campsite in leafy West Sussex. Whether you come with a tent, campervan, or motorhome; with your friends, family, or dog, there’ll be a pitch for you here. This is an easy-going summer-only site in a handy location close to the village of Henfield and not far from Brighton and the South Coast. Family campers will love the fresh air and proximity to the seaside, walkers are spoilt for choice with footpaths criss-crossing the surrounding countryside and couples will love the short walk to the closest pub.
This is very much a back-to-basics campsite, with portable toilets and no showers on site but what it lacks in facilities, it makes up for in on-pitch services. There’s electricity to each of the 28 pitches if you want it, and a handy water tap for each one too. This simple site is looked after by April and Maria, who will either welcome you to site or pop by to see you later, after you’ve let yourself in through the padlocked, five-bar gate. It's a family-owned field which has been called The Slips for as long as anyone can remember, though no one is quite sure why. Perhaps it’s something to do with its position close to the peaceful River Adur, just a short walk from here.
A footpath on the riverbank provides one of the great walking routes nearby – the Downs Link, a long distance route which passes not far from here, offers another. The shops and pubs of Henfield are also within walking distance, so if you’re after a slower pace of life, just pitch up, park up and stay local. On the other hand, if you fancy the thrills and spills of the seaside, Brighton is just 13 miles from here.
