A simple place to pitch up within walking distance of Porthleven Harbour

If you can’t decide between Land’s End and The Lizard, why not pitch up in between and visit both? Treza Camp Site is midway between England’s most westerly point and its southernmost, within walking distance of Porthleven Harbour. It’s a great-value, back-to-basics kinda site for tents, campervans and motorhomes with clean facilities, friendly hosts and campfires allowed.

What’s not allowed is amplified music and this one simple rule means peace pervades across this laid-back, six-acre site. The campsite’s slope affords visitors views of rolling countryside – from some spots all the way to the sea, but it’s worth noting that if you like a perfectly level pitch with marked-out boundaries, this may not be the place for you. It's a farm. And these are farm fields, given over to camping in the summer with free form pitching as you please. And it's all cared for by a family who've farmed here for a good 50-plus years.

Porthleven, the UK’s most southerly working port, has an ever-growing reputation as a foodie destination – it has nowhere near the crowds of Padstow and St Ives so its harbour is a great place to tuck in to fresh fish and seafood. You can walk there from Treza in around 15 minutes and there are three miles of sand and shingle beyond. And, if it's beaches you're after, you don’t have to go far to find another, and another, and another: this is Cornwall after all. The lifeguarded Praa Sands, for example, is four miles along the coast. Lizard Point is 14 miles east, Lands End, 22 miles west but you might find it’s more pleasant to just stay put and explore this little slice of the Cornish coast.

You are welcome to find your own spot and make yourself at home. Some areas have views of the Bay in the distance and other the countryside looking towards beautiful farmland. There is a slight incline so be aware levellers may be needed. The site is just outside Porthleven and within walking Distance of the Harbour. Tents, campervans welcome.

Wendy is a very cheerful ,happy chatty host. Clearly enjoys what she does, keeps her campsite spotlessly clean , toilets always topped up with toilet paper and soap. The showers were lovely and hot and felt almost like you were stood out in the sunshine due to the the clear roof. Beautiful views and relaxed atmosphere. Walking distance to Porthleven which is a beautiful harbour village with lots to offer and also has a local supermarket filled with everything you need. Hope to return soon.

Enjoy camping in the peace and quiet of the countryside on our beautiful site. Treza camp site is within walking distance of Porthleven and the spectacular Cornish Coast. Campervans and vans welcome. Enjoy the wonderful walks around Loe Pool, Penrose Estate and the Coastal Footpath. We are open May to the end of September www.porthlevencamping.co.uk
Nearby attractions

Porthleven is less than a mile from the campsite with its pretty harbour, eateries, shops, galleries and a beach. On the other side of town is Penrose, a wooded estate which surrounds Loe Pool, Cornwall’s largest freshwater lake. There are plenty of routes to walk and cycle here and you can hire bikes from nearby Helston, under three miles away. The town is connected with Penrose via Coronation Park where there’s a boating lake too. Families with young thrillseekers will find Flambards Theme Park on the outskirts of town. Another popular local attraction is the Cornish Seal Sanctuary at Gweek, eight miles from site. Lizard Point is 14 miles from site, St Ives is 15 miles away, Falmouth is 16 and Lands End is 22 miles from site, reached in around 40 minutes’ drive.

Food and drink

If you like fish and seafood, you are spoiled for choice (though you will probably be okay even if you don’t). Quayside Fish sells fresh, local fish and there are plenty of restaurants around the harbour that cook it. Try Kota for fine dining, or its little sister Kota Kai for more casual, small plates. The Square is another well-reviewed option, which uses fresh local produce and is open all day. For campsite cooking supplies Porthleven has a small family-owned supermarket, Pengelly’s, with a focus on local produce.
