Lovely, surprisingly secluded site with all the facilities needed for a break. Perfectly sited to watch the sunrise and sunset.

Sitting in someone's garden.
Overall we had a good experience. However from the description I thought we were going to be a lot more private. There are houses just at the back. You're not away in a field, you're in someone's garden, there's no escaping that. And suburban, small gardens, not grand mansions grounds. On top of which the two units are too close together. Sitting on our chairs we could see and hear the other one. The guests there were either never in or very quiet, so it wasn't a problem (a part from looking at a horse van instead of fields) but it could have been pretty bad. You're led to believe, from the photos, that it's an isolated idyll. That is very much not the case.

The perfect way to escape the 9-5
Staying at the Hares Rest was amazing. We thoroughly enjoying staying in the shepherds hut. It was about 2-5 degrees the whole time we stayed, but the heated fan and log burner were ample to keep the whole place warm.
Ruth was an amazing host. There was the most wonderful hamper left for us. With fresh bread, cakes, biscuits, hot chocolate, marshmallows, homemade jam, buttter, eggs and milk. We did not expect this and it was a lovely suprise.
The hut is about 20 minutes from Bath by car which is great for hiking the local hills and walking round the city centre.
Ruth was fast to respond to queries and only a message or phone call away.
All in all a very pleasant glamping trip. We would definitely return.

The perfect glamping getaway!
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Ruth and Partner's lodge. The Shepherds hut is built and finished beautifully as-well as fantastically equipped. From towels to cooking gear, and crockery to fire wood...Its all there perfectly available and clean. I honestly can not fault it. The welcome Hamper full of local and home made Wiltshire produce was both really touching and utterly delicious!
The Hut is located in a spacious and private paddock and is perfectly situated for long country walks to surrounding villages and pubs.
I would recommend these Hosts and their site to anybody. We would love to return in the future, its a yes from the dog as well!

A great stay in horse lorry
We were in the Hood, which is a horse lorry on a site shared with The Nook (a shepherds' hut). We were knocked out with the accommodation. Surprisingly spacious and well equipped, with a gas oven and hob, fridge and even point to charge your phone by the side of the bed.
