Elderslie lies at the foot of Mount Duval Nature Reserve. We encompass a variety of landscapes from stringy bark Forrest and creek lands to open timber and mountains. We travel through 1.5km of rough terrain that follows the powerlines, steep in parts. 4WD vehicle required.
The campsite is a flat, grassy area, the perfect spot to get back to nature and enjoy the tranquillity. Campers are welcome to enjoy a campfire - do not light fires during fire ban. Pets are allowed.
There are no facilities here, campers need to BYO camp toilet and leave no trace. Just 15 minutes down the road you'll find yourself in the regional hub of Armidale for all your shopping and supply needs.
It was great to take some time out in nature before returning to work. Troy’s place felt so remote and quiet, yet we were still able to head to Armidale and surrounds for a swim and to get supplies. Loved the star gazing at night and the friendly cows that came through camp each morning, unfortunately the creek wasn’t flowing at the time of our visit, but nearby Blue Pools was great for a cool off on the hot days. Troy and family were very welcoming and friendly and showed us to our spot. As previous reviews have stated, definitely 4wd needed, and higher clearance to some spots, as we scraped a little on some larger rocks in our Suzuki Vitara. Thanks Troy!
What an amazing property and an amazing host. I misread the very important detail about needing a 4x4, but Troy still found us somewhere to camp up. He also took us on a tour of his property in his ute. Which is absolutely gorgeous. We saw lots of farm animals too!
Fantastic, secluded, spectacular spot on the top of a hill. A large site to choose where you'd like to be , and great phone signal if needed. If definitely recommend and I'll definitely be back. Rocky 4wd track to get there, once you're settled you're probably not going to be leaving too quickly, but was ably guided there and easy enough to go to Armidale if you wanted to.
Had a great night by a big campfire (wood provided) on a very chilly night. Good 4x4 track in, following Troy to the campsite. Arrived at a large clearing by the creek with views up to Mt Duval. Large fire pit, long rustic table & bench set, with an old ‘vintage’ caravan (unused) make up the site. Very private and a great space for the dogs to run and sniff. Had a very good stay, close to Armidale.
We (group of 10) tented at Troys property. Troy was a great host and drove us to our location at the back of his property (sheep and cattle), near a dam that you can swim in.
For the location we were in, you did need a 4WD (which Troy did tell us), that added to the fun. We went for a great bush walk based on Troys recommendation.
Close enough to town if you need some supplies.
Troy and his family were very welcoming and accommodating. As the listing states you definitely need a 4wd vehicle as well as an offroad van/camper. The property was very scenic with lots of hikes. Despite being near a main road we couldn't see anyone else nor hear anything but nature. Lots of stars and beautiful sunrises. C clo
